Yessaris' hands slowly falls away from his ears as he comes up from a half-crouch, and takes a proper look of the change in scenery. His eyes lingered the longest on the crystal glowing in the center, but eventually his eyes narrow upon sighting Lysanderoth -- Lot. No pity entered his eyes seeing the man so broken. Nor did the Yuan-Ti seem to feel any more triumphant now that the group had come so far. However, he did stare at length, prior to finally shooting Abe a look.
Receiving a slow nod in turn, Yessaris broke the silence in speaking to his gauntlet and giving giving it a command. The dials twist on their own and from some sort of vent pours out golden mist, and then as if it had a life of its own, it flies over and encapsulates Abe. Immediately after, Yessaris is jogging around and up the stairs, getting as close to Lys--Lot as he could before leveling his rapier at him. "I won't say its over. Not by a longshot, Lot. You've fought this long, after all. But.... is it worth it, my friend? To keep pressing on, that is to say."Yessaris asked coolly.
Future Reaction(Yessaris): Cast (1st level)Shield if applicable for an 'attack' that's 27 or less If subject to an effect that would apply to Elemental Dampeners first that does 20 or more damage, using that instead.

The artificer nods at and protectsAbe. Then, he poses a question to Lysanderoth. The man answers: "Worth it? Of course it is. Immortality is worth anything. With it, you buy the time you need to achieve any other goals you may have. Is that not why you are here? All this talk about bringing me down cannot be just for the sake of defeating me. You... all of you... want my power. What happens when you have to face the same decision I did all those years ago. When only one of you gets to make the Wish? Even if you defeat me, you'll surely just turn on each other. Like that pathetic excuse of a party once did against me!"
While Lysanderoth talks, Yessaris tries to approach. He goes up the steps onto the platform where the crystal is placed and tries to move around and past it. The runes on its base shine brighter, preventing the yuan-ti from reaching his desired spot. Yessaris then hops down one level and back up onto the wide staircase on the central-west part of the chamber (hopping down a level or up a level without using the stairs count as difficult terrain).
The ooze-lady finds this an opportune moment to tease her enemy. Lysanderoth snarks back: "You may have taken the Unsettled Heart from me, but the source of its power, the Wishing Stone is still mine. Do not rest on your laurels just yet, monstrosity!"
Trying to protect at least part of the party, Nox then moves to a more central position and releases a Globe of Invulnerability around herself and Abe. Flying above, Tupoc is left outside the created dome, while Boomshakala is half in and half out. Yessaris and Selrach are completely outside as well.
"Now, let the final act begin! Our spectators have been waiting for this for a very... long... time!" Motioning with both hands in the space just ahead of his face, Lysanderoth utters the Abyssal words for: "Curtail-Call Scythe," producing a grim hooked-blade weapon that emanates black flames from its entire length. He takes a few steps forward and uses the reach of his large weapon to attack "the fool who came closer!"
-> Curtain-Call Scythe vs. Yessaris: Attack: 24Damage: 43 magical slashing and fire (misses due to reaction; reference).
-> Curtain-Call Scythe vs. Yessaris: Attack: 17Damage: 46 magical slashing and fire.
Yessaris quickly reacts with a simple magical Shield, nullifying Lysanderoth's attacks.
(@Ori: As per your post, please let me know if you'd rather use Absorb Elements. Also, please don't forget to mark down the spell slot).
(@Superbad: As far as you can tell, Lysanderoth/Lot looks human, but based on all that Selrahc has seen him do so far, it is safe to assume he has lost his humanity long ago.)
The Couatl-hybrid swoops around his enemy and delivers a series of punches and kicks. Though none of them seem to hurt Lysanderoth that much, the man still raises an arm in time to block the fourth strike (Lysanderoth takes 14 magical bludgeoning damage). Tupoc notices that Lysanderoth feels unnaturally hot to the touch.
Selrahc follows the path Yessaris had just taken and attacks from the staircase to the west. He puts all of his muscles behind each axe swing. Every slash releases a streak of fire from the wound it deals (Lysanderoth takes 89 magical slashing damage).
Lysanderth frowns at the barbarian and retaliates with a Hellish Rebuke spell:
While the Xorn-hybrid recoils in pain (Selrahc takes 47 fire damage), Tupoc sees the opening he was waiting for and delivers an extra kick to Lysanderoth's head (Lysanderoth takes another 6 magical bludgeoning damage). Selrahc himself also retaliates (Lysanderoth takes another 19 magical slashing damage).
The inside of the crystal in the center of the room begins to swirls in a motion simply too familiar to the trialists. The group can finally pinpoint the source of the grayish swirl that had been part of the liquid walls during the proper competitive part of the trials. However, the swirl does not stay plain-colored for long. A multitude of colors appear within the crystal and begin to vie for dominance. Reds, yellows, blues, greens, and many more hues come and go and reappear. It all happens quite quickly, until the crystal settles on a combination of bright orange and deep purple.
A bright orange ray shoots out of the crystal first. It is clearly trained on Abe. Luckily for the aasimar, Nox's Globe of Invulnerability stops the ray on its tracks. The globe warps and takes some of the orange ray's color, clearly looking less stable than before. A deep purple ray follows, also seemingly targeting Abe. The Globe of Invulnerability comes to the cleric's aid once again, but at the high cost of being disintegrated.
"The only fool here, Lot, is you! Immortality cannot be worth all this! Not worth the lives you've cosigned to these games of madness!"Abe shouts to the man as the barrier melts away. Afterwards, if Boomshakla is still close, he'd slap him on the shoulder, and deliver the healing warmth of the morninglord. But if not, he calls out a warning to keep at least ten feet away before calling upon a prayer that seems to invert and dim the color of everything within ten feet of the cleric.
Action(If Boom's Within Range): Cast (4th level)Cure Wounds on Boomshakla, restoring 43 HP, and 6 to Abe.
Boom will see Selrach suffering and decide speed is no longer his best friend. Boom will drop concentration on haste and instead use a 4th level spell slot to transform Selrach into a Mammoth using Polymorph.
Seeing his companion's bloody state, the dragonborn sorcerer makes a tough decision. Boomshakala extends Selrahc's survivability at the cost of his immediate mobility. The transformation into a Mammoth happens quite quickly but, in the process, Yessaris is pushed towards the western part of the room {MH-3}. Additionally, Selrahc looks stiff at first glance post transformation.
-> Concentration on Haste is dropped and Selrahc suffers the consequences.
-> Selrahc's Frenzied Rage subsides.
Noticing that the dragonborn himself could use some assistance, Abe takes a step to his left {MC-9} and touches the sorcerer warmly (Boomshakala heals for 43 HP). Abe himself benefits a bit from the healing light, as is tradition (Abe heals for 6 HP).
Between the ongoing barrier and his own inherit resilience, Yessaris shrugs off most of whatever began praying on his mind, and just shakes his head at Lysanderoth. "You are correct, Lysanderoth. I do want your power... to make sure that none of this happens again. That was the Jury's mission, ultimately. And as one of the collective... I will see it done, and the great labor committed to once more."He states as he tried once more to stride into a more favorable position past the giant mammoth. "Even if all are not agreement initially. We will find a way. For you have shown us at the very least the fate of those that follow your folly."Yessaris then turns to the crystal, and between the last few interactions and those in the past, tries to unravel how it works or might be suppressed for a time.
Future Reaction(Yessaris): Cast (1st level)Shield if applicable for an 'attack' that's 27 or less If subject to an effect that would apply to Elemental Dampeners first that does 20 or more damage, using that instead.
Nox appear back at MG-7 and then walk toward Lysanderoth to MJ-7 She then tries to grab on Lysanderoth and give her a Shock. Attack: 14 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. Lightning damage. (incase advantage from metal armor 14) (OOC: welp XD)
"That's if you even get the opportunity to make that decision!" Lysanderoth responds as Yessaris squeezes past the Mammoth. The artificer uses the distraction afforded by the conversation to quickly study the central crystal, counting himself lucky not to have disappeared this time so he could afford the extra study time.
Yessaris learns:
There were a total of nine colors swirling within the crystal at some point. It is safe to assume each one is associated with a different type of magical ray.
You did not see what effects the bright orange ray can deal, but you are sure the deep purple one works similarly to (though not exactly the same as) a Disintegrate spell.
The crystal seem to be defending itself, primarily. It chooses its targets at random among anyone present within its surroundings. That said, there is a clear connection between the crystal and Lysanderoth (he did call it "his" at one point), so he is unlikely to be a potential target.
Each ray's intensity also seems to be somewhat randomized. The same ray shot twice may be much easier or more difficult to dodge a second time around.
Lysanderoth called it the Wishing Stone, so shooting rays and serving as the ultimate source of "liquid walls" are likely not all of its powers.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
NOX
-> Initial WIS saving throw was supposed to be at advantage, so here's a second roll {DC 25}: 17
Nox tries to reappear at {MG-7} but is prevented by the magical runes on the ground from doing so. She is force to reappear at {MG-6} instead. From there, the wizard immediately feels Lysanderoth's Captivating Presence, and begins to succumb to his will. Luckily, the enemy cannot get past her Experiment-enhanced Mind, and Nox recovers.
Nox also squeezes past the Mammoth and tries to hop back up to {MJ-7}, but is once again repelled by the magical floor runes and remains at {MK-6}. From there, she reaches up to grab Lot's leg and releases a Shocking Grasp, but the enemy slips out of her grip just in time. Without much stamina left at this exact moment, or options for where to retreat, Nox then simply steps over to {ML-6}.
Lysanderoth extends a hand towards the nearby monk. His human-like nails extend to become hellish claws, and his muscles loosen as to extend the reach of the arm. His hands shoot at Tupoc like a still-attached projectile:
-> Touch of Pain vs. Tupoc: Attack: 31 Damage: 12 magical slashing.
-> Curtain-Call Scythe vs. Nox: Attack: 19 Damage: 41 magical slashing and fire.
The first attack slashes right through one of the wizard's fakes (images left: 2). The second attack finds its true mark, cutting into the harder parts of Nox's ooze-like body and delivering a strong blow. She has just enough time to absorb some of the fire (Nox takes 40 magical slashing and fire damage). The fire is especially damaging, as it triggers Nox's Aversion to Fire (disadvantages on attacks and ability checks until the end of her next turn).
(Tupoc and Selrahc go next. Both need to start their turns with a WIS saving throw {DC 25} with advantage due to Aura of Purity. Selrahc won't be able to do much else as he just came off Haste).
