Talon is tired and not sure if he believes what he is seeing. He stands and walks towards the bugbear that is motioning to him. “Are you friend or foe?” He pauses 10 feet from the new creature and waits, ready to defend himself is need be but understanding the transitions that take place in this magic prison of sorts and hearing his name he is more inclined to be patient.
Grixx echoes Talon's words, "Yes... I did not think I was to make it out of there and I feel... strange... Vigilance died trying to get us out of there but.."
Grixx stops at the sight of the bugbear and wonders if he will ever get rest.
Not sensing an evil intent towards the group from the bugbear, Karwin (autopilot) suggests that he arcane altar where the Nagpa and Furloth were defeated is probably the quietest of places you have come to so far. "I could use a rest myself. Perhaps, the arcane altar would lend itself to being a temporary or makeshift resting abode."
It is a long track back up, but assuming the party agrees, you can then consider the walk upstairs to be a safe one. The arcane altar is as you left it, corpses included.
As Bone stares at her, the bugbear stares back unblinkingly and unmoved outside of the small rise and fall of her chest: answering silence with mute questions. Was this vigilance, or another prisoner that managed to slip the noose of the gith? Looking at her more closely, there was some recognition from her... as well as profound tiredness.
Seeing Nox sprint off further down and the others readying to the do the same, a deep but thoughtful sounding "hmm" from behind finally alerts the rest of her presence. After next waving and beckoning Talon over next, nothing about her betrays any sense of being perturbed by the guarded reactions. And when questioned the bugbear simply canted her head at talon, only to right herself and squint. "Technically. Neither." She admits. It is then she puts a hand to her clavicle and adds, "Ally. More appropriate. I am. Le'gal." She states haltingly yet clearly, as if unused to speaking common.
"Keeper of Word. Curse Breaker. Mender... One who was many." She paused, then shook her head. "I help you now."At that, she again beckons all that remained on the steps. Whoever is brave enough to step up first receive a strong grip on the shoulder, a soft nod, then the spell Remove Curse cast upon them. "More aid. I give. Protection. You accept? After rest. As suggested." Le'gal at that point stands up, and if none disagree, leads the way back up.
The bird telepathically reports back to Nox that the staircase leading down eventually stops going in circles, and becomes straight. This signals the creature reached the bottom of the tower before returning to its master.
While walking back up he report his findings to the party "my bird just found the end of the stairs leading to a straight hallway. It shouldn't take long before we reach it, if it save we can setup camp there. I can summon another pet as sentry duties and setup an alarm around us."
Talon is ready to head back to known territory even if it holds mixed memories. "Thank you for removing that curse .... Eagle is it? It is good to meet you. Of course we have met before in a manner of speaking." He follows the others back towards the arcane alter.
Le'gal immediately flicked Talon upside the forehead. "You heard. No jests."She intoned, giving him a narrowed eye look. Turning to Grixx next, she sees to it that his curse is removed unless the barbarian proves stubborn about accepting help. Before the others can get too far ahead, she turns to Nox and does that deep "hmm" thing again. "Still Risky. Hallway patrol. More Likely. Incursion. Less Likely. Up better. Keep bird on watch. Down there."Caring not to say more, Le'gale continues on up.
At the top, she almost mechanically goes through the process of moving the bodies off to the side. Then if not destroyed by the others, sees to a casting of Nondetection over the area around both them, as well as the slow tedious process of casting ceremony on them to prevent any undead shenanigans.
Talon will use his racial skills to Alarm the doorway. His companions are welcome in and out but any other creature size tiny or larger will cause a alarm bell to ring for 10 seconds. This will last 8 hours and reaches 20 feet into the hallway.
Dredge uses his primal connection to the totems of nature to tune in to Nox’s bird vision (casting Beast Sense as per Spirit Seeker) and then follows Le’gal, acknologing the need of his companions for rest.
Grixx gladly accepts the removal of the curse and feels relieved when he starts to feel his muscles respond to his commands. He is relieved as once again magic almost claimed him.
"Thank you, my friend! Both now and in the past. You may not remember but I do."
Grixx follows the others but has no spells to cast to be helpful.
Talon finds a corner to make himself comfortable but before he starts his rest he walks over to Le'gal. "I'm glad you are with us and I'm not just saying that because you healed my curse. I miss both Jury and Vigilance. Let's see if we can make the third time the charm aye!" He goes back to his comfortable corner and falls asleep almost immediately.
Aside from a narrowing of the eyes and long stare back at the speakers, Le'gal says nothing in turn. Rather, she silently resolved to stay awake for at least a few extra hours, taking first watch and munching on some jerky in her pack. "Foolish." She muttered at some point or another as she watched over the others.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Nox suggests an alternative resting spot but is overruled by the majority of the party, who all seem intent on barricading themselves at the top of the tower. On the way up, Le'gal applies a casting of the Remove Curse spell on Talon, and then another on Grixx. Both warriors are successfully relieved of their extra, cumbersome muscle mass.
Once back in the arcane altar, dead bodies are put aside and a sleeping area for most party members is selected and protected from scrying by means of a single casting of the Nondetection spell. Two castings of Ceremony (Funeral Rites) puts the party at ease regarding the corpses, and two castings of Alarm protect the 'door' and its surroundings. For added security, Nox commands his Peryton to keep watch downstairs, and his Owl to keep an eye just on the other side of the arcane altar's 'door' (remember there is no door as they were ripped off with an Animate Objects spell). Dredge attempts to tap into the mind of Nox's animal companions through Beast Sense, but realizes mid-ritual that none of them are actual beasts.
Le'gal then offers to take the first watch. Nox picks up the second so he can take full advantage of his psychic connections with his feral companions. Bone volunteers for the third and Karwin for the last. (Perception checks below.)
Assumed stealth for the two animals - Peryton: 11; Owl: 13. (I'm using passive stealth here because it was never called out that they were actively seeking to stay hidden.)

1st watch - The Peryton sees a tall man with a dark complexion and a soul-patch (but no other hair) walk in its direction in the straigh hallway at the foot of the tower. The man notices the monstrosity as well, examines it for a few minutes, and walks back the way he came.
2nd watch - Nothing to report.
3rd watch - The Peryton sees a bald dwarf with a long, silky, braided red beard walk straight up to it and ask what it is, cock its head to the side, and leave the hallway with a puzzled look on his face.
4th watch - The Peryton sees a small group of armored guards walk right past it, in formation. An hour before the rest is over, Nox's Alarms go off, but not Talon’s. If waking up to look around the room and down the winding staircase, all that is found is that the group is one tortle lighter and a note is left on a piece of parchment on the floor (see below). The Owl sees Karwin leave, but the Peryton never spots her.
Eight hours of rest later, the group feels refreshed. Instead of finding Karwin keeping her mandated watch, the group finds a note. It reads: "I have decided to investigate this place on my own, as one will surely be harder to spot than seven plus however many birds you have now decided to keep. Do not seek me. I'll find you once I have useful information to share."
Le'gal isn't one to waste time upon awakening. While the others busied worrying further over the implications of Karwin's choice and thensome, she got work almost mutely or through monosyllabic offers to strengthen the group through her magics. But she is attentive, and in overhearing about the rest's events, her attention turns towards the symbol emblazoned upon her shield. After a time she grows still as if entering a sort of trance from her Commune(ritual casted) with the divine.
Anyone that is attentive overhears the following of her just scarcely whispered questions spoken in unbroken common. But the voice was different, yet vaguely familiar.
"If they had slain the giants fought prior to our rest, would the platform be rendered unusable?" "Would attempts to bargain with the dwarf,(*insert description here*), seen by Nox's familiars over our rest yield any favorable results?" "... Is there yet a means to restore us into the being known as Jury remaining in this place?"
(@All The spells/offers she cast are in order from 1st to last going down in case it becomes relevant for a possible surprise attack.)
Le'gal, Talon, and Bone are offered the benefits of a 30 additional HP from a 7th level Aid.
Nox, Grixx, and Dredge are offered the benefits of 25 additional HP from a 6th level Aid.
In order: Le'gal, Grixx, then Bone are offered the benefits of Death Ward cast at base(4th) level.
Le'gal ritual casts Commune for answers to the above.
Nox ask telepathicly to Peryton how the night went. Reading Karwin note he says "What an irresposible tortle only thinking about himself could atleast notify us before leaving." Just as he finished saying that he got curious about the bird report and immediatly start rushing downwards again followed by his Owl.
