If Varinth stands behind Scupper, he will catch Scupper in the blast. Also, the flame is only 30 feet long, so he would miss Nezznar. He can get Bugbear 2, Spider 2 and Nezznar if he stands in front of Scupper, but he will take an Opportunity Attack from the spider if he does that. So, behind or in front of the halfling?
The spider and bugbears save, but Nezznar does not, as the line of flame roll through the temple and hit the drow hard. He looks bloodied, but not ready to give up just yet.
As Varinth moves away, the spider bites:
Attack: 11 Damage: 8
*sigh* No need for shield.
Round Three
A: Scupper B: Nezznar C: Zhudala and Strix D: Giant Spider 1 and 2 E: Dekhan and Incantis F: Bugbears 1 and 2 G: Varinth
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bugbear 2 sees the arrow approach, but can't get its weapon up to block in time; the arrow goes through its furry arm and sticks.
Nezznar moves away from the group towards the far side of the temple. He looks at Strix, Dekhan and Scupper, as if unable to decide who he hates more. Finally, he points a finger at the winged aasimar paladin: Let's try this now.
Three bolts of magical energy spring from his finger and slam into Dekhan; you take 11 force damage.
We're we given enough direction or sight in our travel here to know how to get over to that door behind the Neznarr? And how many rounds it might take?
Zhudala, still in the form of an invisible spider, scurries up the wall behind the northeastern pillar, peeking around the corner to see what lays beyond.
((So it takes an action for Incantis to warg into Zhudala so I'll leave it to your discretion what she relays to me))
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Incantis, half-elf warlock (great old one) 4/bard 1 ● Thorok Earthhand, hill dwarf mountain druid 6/grave cleric 2
Cragmyre Ironseed, earth genasi ancestral barbarian 3 ● Cyrus Natriallae, aquatic half-elf warlock of the deep 3
(I don't think the Spider count's as Flanked since Dekhan's got the bugbear, similarly Dekhan's not flanked because I'm behind the spider - is that right?)
Quarterstaff Attack: 25 Damage: 11
Bonus Unarmed Attack: 19 Damage: 7
Strix attacks Spider 1, Moving around behind it towards Bugbear 2 to keep that bugger occupied.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Far out of the reach of the drow, Zhudala peeks round the corner and sees a tunnel extending east, no doubt heading to where the large crevasse splits the cave. And, only fifteen feet from where she stands, she (and Incantis) see a closed door in the north wall.
(I think Strix would have flanking on Spider 1 - the fact that a bugbear is attacking Dekhan doesn't matter, as far as I can see in the rules. But both attacks hit and kill, so no need to roll the advantage now.)
Strix's first attack with his quarterstaff skewers the spider, and black ooze trickles down the staff as you twist the staff and the body slides off it.
(I'll assume you head to Bugbear 2, as the nearest enemy?)
The second attack strikes the already badly wounded Bugbear 2, who also falls to the shifter's might.
The only remaining spider, Spider 2, is not intelligent enough to flee, and moves to attack the foe before it, Scupper:
Attack: 15 Damage: 7
(Assuming Mage Armor is active, that does not hit.)
Dekhan is up. Incantis has already used his action, I believe? But still can use a bonus action.
Dekhan Will charge towards Nezznar dashing just past him to cut off his escape. ((So double moving to get to one of the squares next to him on the far side hopefully forcing him to draw an AOO if he tries to escape.))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dekhan, you are able to move to the far side of the drow, gazing down on him as he snarls up, cornered. (Are you landing or remaining airborne? You would get an Opportunity Attack either way.)
The bugbear left standing ducks slightly as Dekhan soars over him, and decides to give the paladin a wide berth. Instead he focuses his attack on Strix:
Attack: 14 Damage: 7
Clang! Another morningstar striking the ground harmlessly.
Varinth is up. Incantis can still move/take a bonus action.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Scupper uses his cunning action to disengage (back 5 feet), a move action to get left enough to keep an eye on Dekhan, and the fire an arrow at the drow (I think I can get line of site on that).
Scupper, though you disengage, the spider does swipe a leg at you, not enough to hit but enough to knock you off your stride, and your arrow shoots off towards the back of the temple where it lands harmlessly.
The Black Spider surveys the remains of his forces, and considers his options. As Dekhan is hovering close enough to take an Opportunity Attack, he reaches up, touches the paladin's boot and casts Shocking Grasp Attack: 15 Damage: 4
Dekhan you feel a surge of electricity course through you, and as it tingles you find your reflexes numbed and slowed for a few seconds. Nezznar grins, and takes the chance to flee to the east. (Dekhan cannot take reactions for the moment, so no Opportunity Attack.)
Seeing the Black Spider flee, Strix gives his dancing partner an apologetic head-incline, offering "Poljeez, promise will punch Buggie next. Promise!"before charging after the wizard with preternatural speed. (Is it prejudiced to assume they're a wizard rather than a sorcerer or warlock?)
AoO for Bugbear#1

Not to bring up any Napoleonic Issues but could he not shoot over his head? But the point is moot as I thought the squares 5ft not 10.
Varinth will step in front of Scupper mumbling a quick apology and make his attack. He will activate his Shield when the spider takes a swipe at him.
DEX saves:
Spider 2 12
Bugbear 2 15
Nezznar 8

E: Dekhan and Incantis
F: Bugbears 1 and 2
G: Varinth
Scupper is up.
Scupper a sneak attack arrow at Bugbear 2 engaged with Dekhan. And shouts out strategy as he does to give the paladin advantage.
Attack: 22 Damage: 9
Sneak attack damage 6
Mind you don't get yourself flanked, lad
Bugbear 2 sees the arrow approach, but can't get its weapon up to block in time; the arrow goes through its furry arm and sticks.

Zhudala and Strix are up.
((Ouch! How high are the ceilings in the room?))
I'd say 30 feet.

Zhudie, what do you see behind the Black Spider?

Aganazzar’s Scorcher Damage: 6 (half on Dex save)

Varinth, the bugbear is too far for your flames, but the spider is just caught in part of the blast:

The spider does manage to duck down onto the ground behind one of its fallen, charred brethren, and avoids some of the damage.
