OOC: He’d be restrained. So no movement speed, advantage to attacks against him and disadvantage to his attack rolls.
Speaking of which I may have missed the D/A. - I’ll make the secondary roll here

Good spot! The prisoner would have survived after all! Although the intent was still there
Sorry guys! Was in a rush getting that done this morning and it was a stupid oversight. Updated the last round, will update the round map if needed too. Feel free to update your moves for this round.
OOC: While we're making corrections, I've been reading about play on a grid. There are rules in the DMG for it.
There is no penalty for attacking around corners, but in this case the wall juts out to meet the door frame. Attacks are still possible diagnally through a door, but offer 3/4 cover.
Also, there are optional rules for moving through enemy spaces. Tumble, Overrun and Shove are all something to consider.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"Not all those who wander are lost." - J.R.R. Tolkien
OOC: Thanks Almarath I’ll look into those. They’ll come in handy I’m sure! Have you got a page reference?
Edit: Think I found it. P251 DMG for cover. Drawing lines from the lower left corner of the one Serak would have stood on - 4/4 of the redbrands corners would be blocked, (including Beetle standing there otherwise 3/4), so 3/4 cover. That's a handy rule of thumb to bare in mind, thanks for finding that!
Overrun is a Strength (Athletics) contested check - (Adv/DisAdv depending on size difference) as an action or bonus action. Winning allows you to pass. Shove - Strength (Athletics) vs Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) - uses an attack to move the opponent 5 ft in any direction - D.Adv on check if shoving to the side. Tumble is an action or bonus action - Dexterity (Acrobatics) contest. Winning allows you to pass through the space.
There's a Disarm as well, which I think came up before. It's an attack roll contested with an opponents Athletics or Acrobatics. Winning disarms the creatures current weapon.
I'm happy to bring these in if you guys ever want to use them. Just some more options to keep in mind. Although you guys seem to handle everything I've thrown at you quite easily so far lol
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Enraged by the situation developing in the cell, Syna calls forth winters fury, "Pomerty povilʹno!!!" A wave of sheer cold blasts southwards towards the redbrand gripping at his cloak.
Redbrand Constitution Saving Throw: 13 Spell Save DC: 13
The blast rips through the creeping vines but the Redbrands dark thoughts is distraction enough to keep him warm.
Determined to put an end to this skeletal onslaught, Brots side steps out of the corner drawing a dagger into each hand. He flails them rapidly at the approaching skeleton, (S2), hoping to catch bone.
Attack 1: 22 Damage: 7
Attack 2: 1
His initial strike is well placed, slicing across the skeletons midriff tearing away warped skin. With a frush of adrenaline Brots tries to push the skeleton back. His second strike is not so lucky. Deflected by the skeletons own sword, the gnome fails to gain any ground.
Seeing the prisoner in peril, Beetle is enraged. He charges forward calling for aid "Tyr bring your vengeance to bear down on this man who had no right to take the life of an innocent.."
Attack: 14 - (24) - You have advantage against restrained. You don't need it, but just incase it's a crit Damage: 9
Striding through the jail cell door he stomps easily over the tangle of thorned vines around him. The imprisoned woman looks on helplessly. The paladins longsword slices through the vines and into the redbrands chest.
As the redbrand staggers slightly, the prisoner sees her chance.
She bites down hard into the redbrands grasping hand. He screams in pain, his grip loosens and she is released. As she turns to run her legs struggle to move. Tangled by vines she is rooted to the spot.
Enraged and filled with blood lust the Redbrand lashes out with his shortsword. "I warned you all! If it is death you came here for then death you shall have!!" He slashes his sword back at the defenceless prisoner as she turns to escape.
Redbrand 4 Attack 1: 5 (OMG actually, she has D/A as well if shes restrained. So both Prisoner Defence D.Adv/and Redbrand Attack D.Adv would have cancelled out last round. FML.) Redbrand 4 Attack 1 Corrected Roll: 17
A sudden red mist sprays across the jail. The remaining prisoners scream again as the slain woman falls to the floor in a tangle of thorns.Turning his attention to Beetle, the redbrand smiles and releases a demonic laugh, "Satisfied? You should have left well alone! This was an avoidable death on your conscience!" He swings his sword at Beetle.
Redbrand 4 Attack 2: 13
Redbrand 4 Damage Roll: 8
(I am having an absolute nightmare with this one! Minimum damage here is 3 so the prisoner is dead regardless. Also realise with hindsight that I hadn't given her a chance a Strength Save against Synas entangle. It'd overcomplicate things now. If she survived the strength save she would still have an opportunity attack to deal with as she left the redbrands reach. FS. For sake of argument, and because I'm a glutton for punishment - Delayed Strength Save: 9. Well that worked out nicely. As you were)
Swinging over the dead prisoner, the redbrands shortsword delivers a weak blow, clattering harmlessly against Beetles chain mail. The smug look on the redbrands face quickly disappears.
Zyltris meanwhile, charges through the jailroom door and is immediately confronted by a host of skeletal opponents and an exhausted Brots. He swings his morningstar to protect his gnome friend.
Attack: 15 Damage: 5 (x2 for Vulnerability =10)
The morningstar makes short worth of the creature, decimating its target and sending bone fragments flying across the crypt. With a sigh of relief Brots nods a thankyou to his elven saviour.
OOC: Thankyou guys for being so patient! This round should now be up to date and complete no matter how fudged along the way. I've actually learnt alot from running these encounters with you all, more than I would have otherwise and I really appreciate how patient and forgiving you've been as we've gone along. As frustrating as this can be for me at times, (and for you I'm sure as well), when I'm making stupid mistakes, it's still really enjoyable so I just wanted to take the time here to say thanks for your help so far.
Also.... sorry about the prisoner lol. If it helps, she hasn't been killed outright this time but is still in a pretty messed up way.
Continuing to hold his ground, Serak shields his eyes as Zyltris barges in and sends bone fragments flying through the air. Spurred on by this sudden reinforcement, Serak thrusts his rapier forward.
Attack: 13 Damage: 5
His rapier slices between the skeletons ribs, freeing a small pocket of wriggling maggots from underneath its skin. The skeleton continues to press forward at the bard. The scene is bleak, not helped by the constant screaming coming from the next room.
The skeleton raises its sword once more as the bard withdraws his own maggot covered blade. The dull steel screams as it slices downwards through the air.
Skeleton 3 Attack Roll: 22 Damage Roll: 7
Slicing across the bards chest the ancient blade cuts easily through his leather armour, reopening the wound from the earlier goblin ambush. Serak winces in pain as blood trickles down his stomach.
Enraged by the redbrands defiance, Syna calls forth another wintery attack. Another cold blast ripples through the jail towards the red cloaked murderer.
Redbrand 4 Constitution Saving Throw: 20 Spell Save DC: 13
Once more, the burning spite in the redbrands heart keeps him warm as he shakes off the cold. Syna steps backwards, suddenly aware of a great pain in the next room. Glancing through the open door, he sees Brots, barely standing after a near death confrontation. The druid calls out to his gnome ally in a soothing voice.
Feeling stronger and slightly refreshed, Brots casts a grateful look toward Syna and calls back, "Thank you friend! I was getting real weak there for a second!"
With a final skeleton across the crypt, he chooses his next attack carefully.
OOC: Brots, Beetle and Zyltris you're turns to move
Brots carefully aims his bow at the final skeleton. Taking care to slow his breathing, he sends an arrow soaring through the cold crypt air.
Attack: 20 Damage: 5
The arrow sails directly into the skeletons torso and bursts cleanly through the other side. The bony figure wheezes angrily and glares towards Brots, refusing to die.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Beetle will strike at R4 again...
Attack: 17 Damage: 10 I rolled advantage because he was entangled....I wasn't 100% sure though on that but even without it the 1st roll was the higher one.
OCC: The Redbrand failed his Savings throw, so wouldn't he be "restrained" by the vines, and unable to attack in Round 2? Either way,
An icy fury erupts from Syna at R4, "Pomerty povilʹno!!!" 5
"ALWAYS GIVE A MONSTER AN EVEN BREAK!"

OOC: He’d be restrained. So no movement speed, advantage to attacks against him and disadvantage to his attack rolls.
