OOC: Good Roll Beetle, Advantage exists here because the target is entangled/restrained.
Determined to vanquish this blood thirsty redbrand, Beetle swings his longsword, hopefully for one last time. The blade cuts horizontally, slicing through the brambles towards his entrapped foe.
Attack: 17 (With Adv) Damage: 10
In an instant the expression on the redbrands face drops completely. The paladins sword emerges from the vines soaked in red, tatters of fabric hang loosely along one side. The redbrand falls dead into the twisted growth around his feet, gutted and sliced across his stomach.
In the next room, Zyltris charges forward towards the last remaining enemy. With Serak by his side the pair trap the skeleton between the two coffins. Zyltris swings first, morningstar in hand.
Attack: 7
The elfs attack misses. The skeleton steps aside shakily and directly into Seraks path. With his injury making it difficult to breath, Serak makes a desperate but well timed lunge at the undead beast.
Attack: 14 Damage: 11
The bards rapier slashes the skeleton almost in two. With a final voiceless rasp, the creature quickly dismantles into a pile of bones and fabric. Finger bones tinkle across the floor as the crypt falls quiet once more, broken only by a gentle sobbing.
In the jail next door, a young boy in the northern cell calls out for his mother. The dying woman lies in a heap beside Beetles feet in the arms of her crying daughter.
(Prisoner Death Save: 1 - well thats unfortunate)
With a last gasp of breath the womans life slowly slips away. Overcome by grief the young prisoners scream out in unison at the loss of their mother. Their haunting cries fill the rooms, echoing throughout the quiet basement corridors. Outside in the forest, a flock of crows take flight at the sudden echo, faintly rolling through the tunnel.
OOC: 110xp each from this one. Serak and Zyltris that should be you levelled up
OOC: Of course a 1 on a death throw is just two failures not instant death! For a moment there she was a goner lol
Brought back from the brink of death, the womans eyes spring open. She gasps for air holding her daughter tightly. Tears in her eyes, the daughter looks up at the paladin, her voice breaks as she whispers "Thankyou, thankyou sirs so much!"

OOC: Didn't Syna stabilize the prisoner last round?
After slaying the last skeleton, Serak is inspired by the victory. Rushing into the cells to find the battle here over as well.
He then says, "You're safe now." Taking the key from the Redbrand, he opens the northern cell door. He then searches the bodies, skeletons and their sarcophagi.
Now some additional rolls: 7,71,54,4,88,85,94,20,19,8,19,6,13,18
Searching the bodies between them Serak and Syna discover a combined pot of 46 Copper Pieces, 17 Silver and 32 Gold. Ill gotten gains from the redbrands torment of the town. Meanwhile in the crypt, Zyltris and Brots investigate the stone tombs finding a platinum signet ring still attached to a dismembered finger.
(6GP, 8SP, 3CP each - 1 extra cp for whoever wants it)
Brots glances over the dead bodies and chuckles. "Man, I'm sorry guys, I guess I get a little shoot happy. Won't happen again." Brots walks around collecting his arrows. "These are expensive "
"Lets go get Iarno and get these people back to town where they belong."Beetle says, making sure everyone is alright and ready to travel out. "I think we have been through this whole place and if not we should still escort these people to town and come back if we must."
Serak: Nodding his agreement, Serak says, "There is but the path north left to explore, and our exit likely lies that way also."
Addressing the prisoners, "You are all safe now. Morthen sent us to rescue you. He's been quite worried." Turning to the third prisoner, he asks, "And who might you be? Why we're these things holding you prisoner?"
Serak then quickly searches the skeletons and sarcophagi before falling back into formation.

Opening the northern jail door, Serak is shoved aside by the young man who charges forwards towards the south jail. No older than 13, hes strong for his age. Wide shouldered and clearly put to work since he was able. He grabs the two women, squeezing tightly as if to never let them go again. The other young prisoner also tightly embracing the older woman, is around 18, fair haired dressed in rags.
With tears in her eyes the older woman gathers her breath. Looking up at her liberators, her voice cracks, dry and broken, "M... Morthen sent you? Hear that young ones? Your papa sent these men. After all this time" Welled up eyes turn to tears as she breaks down. The young man squeezes the woman tightly again, for an instant looking as if he might crush her in his broad arms. "It's ok mama. We're free now! It's over." The trio kneel huddled together on the dirty bloodstained straw of the cell, arms interlocked. Tears flow freely. This ordeal has clearly taken alot out of them.
Serak and Beetle leave them in peace for a moment. Double checking the cleared rooms for any signs of any treasure or traps they had missed. When they return empty handed, they find the prisoners out of their cell. The young woman sifting through the pile of clothes, the man supporting the older woman as she nurses her wounds. Seeing Serak enter she finally answers his questions.
"My dear sirs, you have our endless thanks. We have been entrapped here since my husband, Thel was taken away and murdered by these monsters. When they came back they rounded us up, put us in these cages. The torment we have endured...." Her voice trails away quickly. Tears again stream down her face as she turns her head away into her sons shoulder.
The boy speaks up and gestures to his older sister across the room, "My names Nars and thats my sister Nilsa. Are you here to take us home?"
Weakly getting to her the woman gathers her brood together. Nilsa her daughter has brought over a set of robes, ragged and dirty and covers her mothers shoulders, “Thank you Nilsa dear. Come, let us leave this foul place. I’m sure your papa is excited to see you both. Lead on sirs. I’m afraid they had us bound, gagged and blindfolded when they brought us here. I’ve no idea where we are.”
Taking her sons arm, the woman gestures for Beetle and Serak to lead the way, gingerly followingbehind them.
Brots is going to take Iris out and look over to Nilsa. "Hey there, my name is Brots and this is Iris. Would you do me a huge favor and look after her while we head back?"
Serak: Serak heads to the northern passage and creeps forward to the end of the hall, looking for traps and hidden doors. He listens at the door at the end of the hall for signs of enemies. He assumes any Redbrand here would've heard the fighting, so he slowly and cautiously opens the door.

While Syna contemplated creating a perfectly placed bonfire in the basement, Iris runs up Nilsas arms to the delight of the teenager. She giggles happily, temporarily distracted from her recent ordeal. The first time she has smiled in many weeks.
Carefully pacing through the north passage, Serak finds himself between two doors. On his left, the hidden door which opens out into the storeroom north of the crevasse. To his right a locked door. The basement is silently still as he turns the bugbears key and pushes the door open with a loud creak.
Inside he finds a smaller storeroom, filled with a wider variety of arms than the first store they encountered. Racks full of spears, swords, crossbows and bolts line the walls as well as a set of twelve freshly made red robes. Equipment for new recruits, which sadly shouldn’t be needed any longer.
Serak: Once the path is clear for the others, Serak hands the keys to Beetle and says, "Let us collect the two drunkards and Iarno. We can return after Morthen's family is safe, to explore upstairs and dispose of the rest of the Redbrands. Also, the supplies and weapons in here are worth a pretty penny."
