Erric thrusts forward with his rapier. At almost the same instant, Ebokk — inexplicably — takes a step to the side, pushing the halfling's weapon arm off target. Erric opens his mouth and eyes in surprise, and his mind starts to tell his arm and back to abandon the attack. But then ... there it is! He lets his body continue its forward movement, and the point of the blade enters the creature's soft neck. Following through, he pushes the point through and out the other side. In slow motion, he, Ebokk and Anafrey watch as a spray of blood exits both sides of the creature's neck from the puncturing. As the bard retracts his weapon, pulling the blade from the vulture-headed beetle's neck, it collapses to the ground, and Anafrey releases it instinctively.
The halfling bounds up on top of the beetle's carapace. "What was that!?! Everyone okay?"He checks in with everyone and catches his breath. (Anafrey, remember, Erric healed you.)
He looks up again, checking for other beetles, and assuming none, sends Jack down the tunnel, following about 30 feet back. "Maybe this beetle kept the grimlocks from whatever's at the end of this tunnel? Anafrey, we haven't forgotten about your need..."
"I'm okay, I managed to stay out of the way this time. I should do that more. Anyone need berries?" Jambiya walks up to the beetle, illuminating it with four dancing lights as she looks it over. "I don't think I've ever seen anything like it." Looking up at Maldorn's suggestion, she nods decisively. "Yeah, let's go on."

OOC: I didn't have my notes at work, but Anafrey should have 11 hp with the 5 healing.
As they move further down the tunnel, the echos of their voices begin to sound more distant. The passage leads onto a rough ledge overlooking a vast chasm. A treacherous looking path, hugging the chasm wall, descends out of view. Distant flickers of light hint at signs of life in the distance, but this dark expanse could take days or even weeks to traverse, taking you far into the deeper reaches of the Underdark. Two more things of interest: There is a grimlock lying face down on the ledge, and there is another tunnel about 25 feet away heading back south.
Erric ducks down, and has Jack walk back into the tunnel 50 feet to get the torchlight out of view. "I don't want to go there. And Skadoosh couldn't have meant us to, right?" Is there enough light from the chasm to see by? If not, he asks Jambiya if her floating lights can be directed or dimmed in order to not give away their position, yet illuminate the ledge more. He creeps closer to the grimlock lying down on the ledge, checking to see if it's missing a head. Also, what direction is everything else, if the tunnel you mentioned heads south?
“I can keep one light,” Jambiya says quietly, illuminating a single dancing light. She keeps it low to the ground and floats it out with Erric to help him examine the grimlock body.

Anafrey would drop the creature as life leaves its body. Blood would drip from her gaping wounds as she unconsciously scoops up her flail and put it back on her belt. after sheathing her dagger she would pick up the torch and continue to march with her companions. "I... Think i'll be fine." She would reply with a smile when Jam offers a berry. "I think I need a drink more than anything." Anafrey would reply to Erric before giving him a playful punch on the arm. Although she was covered in sweat and blood, with her injured shoulder sagging a bit.. she seemed a bit happier after fighting.
Erric is game for trying the southern tunnel after checking the grimlock body. When Anafrey responds with some element of happiness, his face brightens up a bit more.
Jambiya illuminates the "floor" of the ledge with one dim globe as Jack takes the torch back down the wider tunnel toward the vulture-headed beetle.
Erric, the grimlock is not missing a head. Without actually touching it, you observe no injuries, but you're pretty sure it is not breathing. If you want to know more, roll a medicine check.
You came from the south, so the unknown tunnel would be heading back in the direction you came from.
The body is without injury, but the face is frozen in a look of worry and fear ... but it is a strange creature and without eyes, so you can't be 100% sure.
But still not breathing, dead, hmm okay. "Could it have been the vulture beetle that scared it to death? Or is there more? Let's just go take a peek in that tunnel and see what we see. Then let's go back and check on Thrakk and tell the myconids what we've found. Maybe they have some idea of what's out there." He will then go and do just that, leaving the torch to burn back in the first tunnel and then have Jack join him in peeking into the southern tunnel (is it to the left or the right?).

Going to use a luck point to reroll that attack roll because seriously these dice are not being kind. New attack: 23

Maldorn takes a few moments to reward Sagitta for a job well done with some jerky pieces.
"Forward we go?" he asks.
