Jambiya, the ceiling is ... well, it's kind of a mess. It's a jumble of stone and pipes and wood ... You don't really feel unsafe walking around on the ceiling, but it looks like you might should feel unsafe. The ladder doesn't end at any kind of door that you can tell, but everything is so jumbled, it's hard to tell right now.
Erric, you have absolutely no idea.
Maldorn, it smells musty and moldy. You're pretty sure this water has been trapped here for a while. You think you might smell the faint odor of bread.
Aseid, you don't see anything remarkable about the wall. It's kind of reminiscent of a well.
"Yeast." Maldorn ventures a guess. "Those fungi from before might have something to do with it. Maybe they are here in this chamber too. Be careful and keep an eye on the corners/walls."
"Is there any chance there is a door concealed somehow on the ceiling?" They were very close to the surface (obviously) or at least a large well-illuminated room above. "If not we might check another corridor."
You're a smart girl: There's a ladder here. Ladders are made to allow one to travel up or down. It could be there's nothing here anymore. It could be that there is. There are a lot of cave-ins around, so it isn't out of place to see something that kind of looks like a cave in, but is held aloft.
This kind of works as an answer for Aseid as well.
Erric, the only disturbances in the water are being made by you and your friends as far as you can tell.
Seeing what Jambiya is doing and hearing Aseid's question, Maldorn asks the goblin girl to gently step aside for a second as he aims one of his arrows at the spot in the ceiling where the ladder would logically lead somewhere. The old ranger is expecting the arrow to stick to the upside-down rubble, but part of him hopes it will simply travel straight through it, as if the rubble was naught but an illusion.
"I can try to hack through the layer of debris here," (had to be possible with Maldorn's help) "but maybe first we can check that other tunnel?" Aseid was ready to do so himself if needed.
"No worries."Maldorn waves at the goblin girl. "I have plenty of arrows still. We'll leave that one there as a marking post should we ever return here."
The old ranger turns to Aseid: "Do you see any crates or whatever it is that you were tasked with finding down here?"
Jambiya gives the arrow a little kick out of frustration, and heads back down the wall to join the others. “Onward!” She smiles and leads the way back into the tunnels.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
The party moves back through the tunnels, checking those they had not before and finding them all ending after only short distances due to cave ins. They end up back at the ladder that led them downward to begin with.

Erric is a bit nervous and looks around for any sign of tracks or movement or splashes or things in the water.

Jambiya will examine the ceiling more closely, again gripping her spoon. (What should she roll, Investigation?)

Attack: 26 Damage: 11
Maldorn aims and releases. The arrow does not pass through. It sticks in the ceiling.
"Not an illusion..." Maldorn concludes. "Do you mind recovering that arrow for me, Jambiya?"
“Not at all,” Jambiya says. She picks her way across the ceiling to pry Maldorn’s arrow out.

I can save us some posts. Unless you head back the way you came, all the tunnels are dead ends.
Jambiya, roll a strength check. *evil laugh*
Jambiya struggles to pry the arrow loose. Strength:3

She shrugs and says, “Sorry, Maldorn, it’s pretty stuck.”

"So what is this place? Does it have anything to do with the rod and the wire?" Erric asks, scratching his head, happy to move along.
"Looks like we hit a dead end and should return. Maybe there is another entrance deeper in the ruins."
