Maldorn scraches his head: "These underground tunnels seem to have little to offer besides that horrific hilly monstrosity and its fungi sidekicks. I wonder if they were protecting anything... Also, what do they live off of? That thing tried to eat Mr.Aleyd here, so it must eat other living things, no?"
"Can you figure out where that other tunnel ended? With the ladder and now with your arrow in the ceiling?" Aseid did not give up yet on the treasure search.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Jambiya shushes everyone, “Hold on, let me see if there’s anything I can ask…” She looks about and listens for anything that. Ugh T be alive, fishing some food out of her pouch (a nice cricket or some such).

edit: autocorrect typos above, sorry. J wants to ask animals if anything else comes down here besides the mound.
"I kind of hoped you can track the tunnels to that exit, Maldorn." The comment about his smell he left out - after all, everyone who walked through the tunnels did not smell like a rose now. Some lovely notes of compost he had on himself did not add much to the general bouquet.
(Whatever help Aseid can provide - spotting interestingly shaped piles of debris? Posing as a measuring post for Maldorn to determine the north or the potential distance to anything? - he will do it!)
No, the idea is to find the entrance to that last room with the ladder (and now arrow in the selling) on the surface. To check what is above - maybe we were just too deep? And the treasure is closer? Actually, it's the question that had to be asked before - do Jambiya or Aseid know how to get to the treasure at all? Some signs, or "that many steps from that corner/building/post/whatever"?
I'll admit that Aseid's plan wasn't entirely clear to me at first. I'm glad to see it spelled out. Maldorn will follow Aseid's suggestions and benefit from his help, as per the post above.
Jambiya is clearly stumped. She scratches Snap’s head while he eats a would be informant, and thinks out loud. “Was it not all a ruin above ground? I mean, we should go check, for sure, because I’m stumped down here, unless there’s some sort of hidden passageway somewhere… there are so many dead ends that aren’t cave ins…”

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Erric will try to see if any of the cave-ins actually contain openings small enough for him to potentially squeeze through, or look through. "I'll give it one more shot to see if there's anything more to be learned but I think we may have to look elsewhere..."
While Erric and Jambiya stay below to doublecheck each of the dead ends, Maldorn and Aseid head up the ladder. Maldorn does some complex mental mapping and determines that the ladder is directly below the derelict fountain in the center of the square. Taking a moment to look at it, the two humans see that the statue at the center of the fountain appears to have represented a humanoid form with arm aloft, but it has been so badly damaged and defaced that its identity is beyond determination. The surrounding stone basin now contains more rubbish than liquid, and it is cracked in several places.
Below, the halfling and little goblin girl move from dead end to dead end, poking, prodding and prying, but see no hidden passages. They do happen upon a curious rodent that doesn't immediately run when Jambiya spots it.
"Perhaps we are approaching the whole thing from the wrong angle. Or, better say, got too distracted by those wires that- let's face it - non of our business. Maybe we have to think where is that burial place and go from there."
((Surely Jambiya's dad's specified where they buried their friend and treasure? It's not like they dug a hole in the middle of the temple. What exactly did they say about the place?))
Erric pauses, remains quiet, and looks to Jambiya to take the lead on the rodent communication. (She's still got an inspiration stored in her ring, right?)

There is another crunch, and the party sees Snap huddled a little ways off enjoying another furry snack. Jambiya waits, but nothing presents itself.
Jambiya rolls her eyes. “Well, I’m out of ideas. And I think someone needs a bath,” she side eyes Aseid.

"Hmm..." Maldorn tries to answer his own question: "Maybe the mound eats whatever it is that Jambiya's baby dragon is munching on."

"Should we rifle through the remains of those mounds to see if they ate anything else interesting, aside from Aseid?" Erric says, piping up.
If no one objects, he pokes through it with his rapier.

What is it you two are trying to figure out?
Erric heads back to the room with the deflated mound and pokes his rapier into the vegetation several times. He doesn't hit anything but the floor.
Here's a map:
You entered at 9, fought the mound at 11, and the ladder to nowhere is at 13.
