"Well, I suppose one thing at a time then." Lia says with a shrug. "Should we go into this other realm, and travel to where one of us has slept before now?" She glances to the others as she is asking the group this question.
"I would suggest going back to the main town myself and a few others just came from." Lia suggests. "Seems to be where a lot of this started anyway... Thoughts?"
"Sounds good. Sooner is probably better. Also, my cut of the treasure from downstairs is more than I have ever owned in my entire life, possibly in total, and I'd love to see what civilization is like when you can afford basic necessities." He idly fingers his blood-stained bow. "And maybe new equipment."
OOC post. Just summing up the conversation (since it's been the better part of a week, and I'm losing details). Anyone else want to help clarify or put this together?
Find other overseer to keep the realms from merging.
opponent: 2 pieces of the soul of a dragon the Dragon-Tyrant Scerfozar trying to destroy the world (or at least merge the two realms?)
Is Nukelavee (Lysidda's taskmaster?) one of those parts (he fears "returning to be part of the Dragon-Tyrant Scerfozar")?
Could the "Library of Flying books" help us to identify the dragon or its minions in some way? Or maybe learn about the "darker knowledge" that it protected? Could it hold a key to destroying the dragon?
We need to avoid the ogres, and stepping through the portal seems the best (only?) way.
Continuing OOC: The door said "WHEN TWO BECOME ONE ONE WILL BECOME OVERSEER NOT OF DREAMS BUT OF ALL" which tracks with the realms merging. If Gods aren't allowed in Wyrdrealm, merging the realms means you ban Gods everywhere, meaning the hierarchy shifts - whoever's top dog in Wyrdrealm becomes top dog everywhere. Not world destruction, but world domination.
That in mind: if Nukelavee is Lysidda's taskmaster, and he's concerned about becoming part of the Dragon again, that suggests that the "two pieces" are now the two taskmasters. If they "become one," the dragon gets to merge the realms and it's game over. Going to the Library of Flying Books seems like a good idea, so that we can maybe figure out how they would "become one" and thus figure out how to avoid it.
Also, being able to travel anywhere we've slept means we're getting a fast-travel system, so if we do hit up the Library we should make sure to sleep there at least once just in case.
Full disclosure, I OOC do not fully trust Lysidda. It seems too convenient that she showed up right here, looking for a group of 3rd level characters of little reknown. Plus, a good portion of this loredump suggests that she has something to gain from all this... and she's the overseer of nightmares, for cryin' out loud. That's not a title a good guy would take.
But if she wanted us to fail, all she would have had to do is not show up, probably... so that's a point in her favor. But it may just be because she wants to use us before we become a threat, or shape our growth to prevent us from stopping her (see also: Persona 5).
I vote we accept her offer of a fast travel system, head back to civilization, then look for a way to fly. The Library should be a high-priority goal - if not our next, then sometime soon after.
OOC: So, if Nukelavee is one piece, who is the other piece that we alerted when we attacked that orb thing (which resurrected those abominations). Duh duh DUUUHHHNNNN! Perhaps it's like a yin-yang thing, one with good intention, and the other nefarious?
Oswin send his robot into the portal, followed closely by Lia.
"Welcome to the Wyrdrealm," Lyssida, says a little awkwardly as people and a machine start coming into her realm. "This is... quite a first. I had not had a chance to meet a visitor who wasn't using a soma. Nor has any outside construct been here, for obvious reasons."
"Ah, yes. When you visit here while you sleep, only your consciousness makes it here, but not your body." Lyssida starts explaining. "However, your mind cannot fathom not existing without a body, so you subconsciously envelop yourself in a temporary shell. Usually in the shape of your body. We call that shell a 'soma.' "
"As for dangers, the worst you could encounter are those ids. However, their formation takes quite a while, usually about six months in your world. I'd be surprised if you run into another so soon after destroying that one. Egos are usually made by their summoners, so you'll have no problems from them here."
"You may encounter other figments. Just because nightmares are more overt, doesn't mean that fantasies are any less dangerous. Some of the more extreme nightmares will take frightening forms and attack because. On the other hand, there have been cases of those eschewing their waking lives in favor of indulging some of the more *ahem* attentive fantasies."
"Also, this may literally be the dream world, it still its own plane of existence and has its own fauna. Both docile and predatory."
As more and more party members slowly trickle in with trepidation a thunderous crash is heard downstairs and a sizable rock obliterates a window and its frame, which settles right near a surprised Nessarian.
"Oh! While the neat-and-orderly fashion is appreciated, it seems it is no longer an appropriate - advisable - method!" He says as he runs through the portal.
Valentia is the last to go through the portal, not for a lack of confidence, as when she does step in, her face is serious and determined. She holds her shield still in hand and seems to stop to think and assimilate all the things the group has been talking with Lyssida.
"Nes'rian, ware d'ya t'ink dis flyin' libra'y migh' be? Shoul'na we be 'eadin' tha' way? We got in dis place through tha' temple. 'ow will we git in again?"
From a pouch on her hip, Lyssida produces a small stone with an octagram on its surface, "This is your lodestone whenever you find yourself in this realm. The lands change wildly from day-to-day, this will keep you on your path. All you need to do is concentrate on where you want to go and it will lead to a dormant portal nearest to it. It will also act as a key to opening the portal in both ways."
"I have a thought on that, Miss Lyssida. It is related to what Jororic had just asked me." Nessarian chimes in, "If the library's magic is based off of this realm's own magic, could we use that stone to try and locate it?"
"That's a good question..." Lyssida replies, "Considering that it technically is part of the Wyrdrealm while not being in it, I believe that would work. But again, the issue lies in getting there."
"Well, I suppose one thing at a time then." Lia says with a shrug. "Should we go into this other realm, and travel to where one of us has slept before now?" She glances to the others as she is asking the group this question.
Oswin will gesture out the window, "Any route which doesn't mean facing down a bunch of ogres sounds like a good plan at this point."
"Anywhere we've slept before?" Smallfry asks. "There's, uh... a lot of cellars and tavern floors we have access to, then."
"I would suggest going back to the main town myself and a few others just came from." Lia suggests. "Seems to be where a lot of this started anyway... Thoughts?"

With this, what will be our next goal?

Oswin will send his SD into the portal then pause for a moment to see what happens before following it through.
"Let us do this then." Lia agrees, stepping through the portal after the construct.

Smallfry steps through. "Two questions: first, what the heck is a soma, and second, are we in immediate danger of anything?"

Seeing that no one has exploded or drifted off into vapors, Jororic will step through the portal testingly.
