"I actually have a question of my own... But let's hear what he has to say about that, first." Valentia says while shuffling through her things, searching for the amulet that belonged to the kobold before.
"Valentia, are you sure about that..." Lia comments as she sees her companion digging through her belongings, guessing what she is looking for. "I will back you regardless, but what if it can call on the power there just by seeing it..." She glances around. "I am not sure we want to face that big kobold here..." Lia bites her lower lip as she messes her white hair with a hand, clearly unsure and nervous.
"I see so one become two can do both of those things. That's pretty powerful. How do you use the power of one become two? Is it a spell or does it come from something else?"
"That's fair. I hadn't thought of that, but I think the chance's small that that's the case so it might be worth the risk." Valentia picks the amulet but doesn't show it to him, she hides it inside her fist and then out of his view, waiting for a few more questions before pulling it up to show him.
Valentia pulls the amulet out and shows it to Korvak. "No magic in the amulet? It seems you may be incorrect, as I did find something magical in it." She points to the center of the amulet where she got a response thanks to her casting of Detect Magic earlier. "The amulet may not be magical itself but there's something magical right here. Do you know anything about it?"
"Rider andmaiden chooses worth. Disobedience and failure makes unworth." Korvak says in a solemn tone.
His face then contorts into confusion to Valentia's question, "Know nothing of middle of amulet. Amulet had magic, but now no magic. But magic in amulet...?"
Korvak starts looking around and wordlessly moving his mouth as if it was trying to put something together in his head. But whatever meaning he is looking for is escaping him as he starts moving his head around with increased speed and soon some speech starts escaping his mouth with greater and greater volume. No one is able to understand what he is saying.
In another cell someone else exclaims "Oh, what fresh hell is that thing doing now!"
"Okay, I think that is enough for right now." Forscal says as Korvak's rantings are reaching a fever pitch.
The guard with Gark reapplies the muzzle and tries to restrain Korvak from his now-violent thrashing.
"Let's continue to the office, so I can write you that letter." Forscal beckons.
"Probably a good idea." Lia agrees, following the guard towards the office. She glances back over her shoulder at the thrashing kobold, biting her lower lip a bit as she does so.
Gark follows the group to Forscals office getting filled in on the way about why they need papers. as he leaves he turns to the kobold and says “thanks for talking with me Korvak”
The moment Korvak starts acting strange, Valentia takes the amulet out of his vision and back in her bag. "I don't know what he's saying, but that must be Draconic the language he's speaking." When Forscal calls it off, Valentia nods and follows the group.
The Sargeant's office was just a short walk through the barracks proper. A small corner of the room cordoned off with some boards. Inside is a table acting as a desk in the center with a pile of parchment on one side, a quill with an ink pot near it, and some lengths of twine.
Forscal opens the ink pot, picks up the quill, takes one of the rolls of parchment, opens it and quickly scrawls on it for a moment before rolling it back up and binding it with twine.
"There you are! When you get to caravan, give this to the guard in charge. After you do, he'll add you to the roster of escorts. That will act as proof of completion when you get back." He holds the parchment out.
"It's still pretty early in the day, so if you want, you can stock up on what you need for the journey. Maybe you could also find that other girl who was with you last night. If not, I'm sure there are other travelers around."
Lia takes the note, then pauses as her companion asks for money up front again. She waits to see what the guard has to say on the matter. as she does she runs a hand back to push her white hair behind an ear.
"Sorry, I'm not in control of paying you." Forscal says as he shakes his head. "That would be the comptroller in the other barracks and she's quite a stickler for policy."
"You could try talking to her about it, but I wouldn't hold my breath..." He shrugs.
"Let's see what he has to say to that last question..." Lia suggests, interested to hear what the captive has to say on that subject.
"I actually have a question of my own... But let's hear what he has to say about that, first." Valentia says while shuffling through her things, searching for the amulet that belonged to the kobold before.

"Amulet was used for power. But amulet have no magic. Not since Korvak unworthy." Korvak looks down to the floor.

Gark sympathizes with him "oh... I'm sorry" then asks "What made you unworthy? Who decides who is worthy and who isn't worthy?"
"I'd say that is your cue if you want to try that." Lia suggests to Valentia with a nod towards the door. "It's probably worth a try, as you said."
