"I'm ready for the road." Lia says with a shrug. "Nothing really to purchase as far as I am concerned..." She glances to the other two. "Do either of you need to make a stop before we head out?"
"I may not be as familiar to this location as Gark is, but if we have one on our team who's able to help us in that location, we should fare okay." Valentia responds to both the Sargeant and Gark, before turning to Lia's question. "There's not a thing in mind I find the need to buy. The things I was hoping to get are still out of my scope, so I think we're ready to go."
"Very well... Keep your eyes peeled, there are some bands of bandits lurking along the road. One, in particular has been more active lately, the Alpha Jackals. Don't know why, but they've started muscling out most of the others." Forscal warns the trio.
"Well, I take it you are to be our guide then." Lia says to Garth, as they head out of the guard station. She nods to Valentia then as well, before turning towards the road.
Gark nods "Yeah, I know the route. Do you guys need to buy anything before we leave? I'll can probably forage some extra food for you guys in this forest, but not enough to sustain both of you I think"
After Lia and Val are done, Gark leads them out following the caravan route reading the tracks to determine who's been on the road.
(OOC: the text of favored terrain says "while tracking creatures, you learn the exact number, sizes, and how long ago they passed through the area", does that mean I don't need to roll in favored terrain?)
(Usually it means that 'while tracking' so you need to be using your survival to track, so, at least normally, it requires a survival roll still. DM might say differently though...)
(I always interpreted as you roll for Survival, and if you succeed, you get a lot more information than other classes would get trying to make the same check.)
Valentia keeps an eye out, trusting her perception skills to be able to avoid any problems.
In the late morning, Gark, Lia and Valentia set out down the road, by which, the caravan is slated to arrive.
Gark is taking point. Being at home with these forests, he is well aware of animal activity as well as recent traffic on the road itself. On their path, he is able to notice some the several-day-old tracks. While faded, he able to tell that there are six sets of humanoid footprints consistent with the uniform boots seen on the guards at Kohmstead. He is also able to see some ruts settled in from several trips in and out of town. The most recent of these reveal they are from three carriages.
Valentia keeps on the lookout for potential dangers.

Valentia hears deep growling and sees 3 wolves at the side of the road just ahead of them, surrounding a deer carcass. She also notices a few pups run into the thick brush.
Gark can tell at a glance that they likely had not eaten for a few days and had just made this kill within the past few hours.
Lia, assuming someone points out the wolves to her, glances over at them and pauses, looking to their guide for suggestions. "I would rather not offend those guys if we can help it." Lia observes. "Should we try to go around?"
Gark agrees, “they’re just beasts trying to feed the pups. We can walk around them.”
Gark walks into the woods on the other side of the road from the wolves about 50 ft but within sight of the road. Then walks a hundred feet past the wolves before veering back to the road.
(sorry about that. either I'm having network problems or DDB was having problems. I clicked on the post reply and nothing happened so I clicked a few more times and a while later they appeared)
