Beyond the gatehouse, the corridor turns slightly to the right. There's a door in the wall on the left side further down, and you can see another passage branching off on the left past that. A little further than that another corridor branches off to the right, albeit a smaller one. When you move forward and if you attempt to peer down either of them, the left one is a broad passage with pillars in the center that opens up into what appears to be a bridge or causeway across some sort of underground moat. The right one seems to turn after a bit, and run back towards the gatehouse.

"Do we want to deal with those kenku first, or continue onward?" Rubin asks as he pauses at the intersection. "Can someone check that door as well?" He nods to the door they passed to reach the intersection. "Might lead to more of those bird-men, or something else." he keeps a watch at the crossroads while the others check the door and answer his question about the kenku.

(So something like this? Sorry it's weird, I made it in a rush lol, but the document is editable.)
(Kind of, but the arrow slit corridor was in the gatehouse and the arrow slits didn't extend beyond it. Also the gatehouse is technically diagonal, but that doesn't really matter and you had no way of knowing that.)

"Very well, let's head down to check out the tunnel that leads back towards the Kenku." Rubin agrees. "Though, first, let's finish checking out this door..." he moves over to give a hand at it, if it needs anything.
"Yes. Let the the Light shine on these peculiar bird people." Marros sounds almost excited to take on the Kenku. "What bird would choose to live underground away from the vast sky above? They must be an abomination." He readies his sword and looks for direction from the others as to which way to head.

(Ok, fixed.)
Kethra will use her action to examine the iron shutters with her smith's tools to check for a weakness (whatever roll that needs) while signaling Marros to stick with her while the Tyde and Rubin are checking out the door.
Tyde opens the door, and sees a stone fountain stands in the middle of a grand plaza, its sides sculpted into the shapes of dwarves bearing drums and horns. Near the fountain, several figures in feathered attire play a shrill, discordant tune on flutes made of bone.

"Not likely where we want to go just now..." Rubin comments as he glances through the door. "Shall we head towards the kenku, and see about taking care of them first?" he moves back to the intersection, planning on heading down the passage that leads back towards the guardhouse.
"Didn't pay much attention." Rubin says with a frown. "Seemed like musicians to me though, so I would guess not heavily armed." He pauses though. "Or did you mean the kenku? The bird-men I didn't get a real good look at either, and would expect they are armed, but they did not attempt to shoot at us, or to attack me, when I shot one of them. So not sure if they are going to put up much of a fight or not."
Before the door is shut, Xanranzan, who had initially gone ahead searching for some means of egress into the gatehouse from the currentside, but hesitated by the one door found. He would've tried to peek inside as Tyde opened the door. But a tad out of it or distracted thinking, the door is closed and soon Tyde's away again. If there had been a gesture or suggestion to follow(in retrospect), Xan had ignored it in favor of staring at the mystery door.
A bit frustrated after only a few moments, the Earth Genasi settled for waiting nearby the door with a weapon at the ready in case something came running out. That is, at least until Kethra and Marros eventually caught up and looking to regroup with the rest.

Marros responds eagerly to Kethra's beckoning. He stands guard while she goes about fiddling with the shutters. He stands with his back to her so he can watch in as many directions as possible. "Uh, you might want to hurry that up lady warrior...ah Blacksmith." He's still not used to the nicknames everyone holds. "The Light will hold back any darkness that comes our way."
Rubin pauses in the tunnel that leads back towards the gatehouse, and, hopefully, a way to get at the kenku. He glances to his single companion. "Should we wait for the others, or just get this done with?" He asks. he is clearly ready to just keep going, and deal with these kenku, but sees the wisdom of waiting for the others, in case they find something else prior to the bird-men. "If the others are distracting them from the arrow-slit passage, we might get in a surprise attack on the kenku if we keep going, though, if we find something more dangerous than kenku, we could be in trouble."

Kethra's frowns at the shutters, then nods.
"Weeeell let's make sure they can't shoot us in the back."
Taking out her maul, she strikes the iron shutters with the intention of denting it so the creature inside can't open it.

Map girl here! So we got some tokens, but you can move them around if I'm wrong. I know they're not the same size as the squares...meh.
Since Rubin doesn't have a pfp, I put a crossbow picture hehe.
Rubin and Tyde, you see a door that you guess would lead into the walls of the gatehouse.
Kethra and Marros, you manage to wedge a good few of the shutters shut.

Resting the maul behind one shoulder, Kethra smiles at the handiwork.
"I feel bad for the smith that needs to fix that up! Shall we?"
The pale eyed girl gives Marros a glance, then nods towards the wizard and the ranger having already rounded the corner ahead.
