One of the cultists turns to face Brother Keefe while the other runs as close to Olisara as he can {BN-59}. Both try to stop their assailants on their tracks:
-> WIS saving throw {DC 11}:
Brother Keefe: 26
Olisara: 9
Their spells fail to take hold, and each of them draws a dagger in response.
The Harper continues to slink among the shadows, finding his opportunity to strike while so many were focused to the south by concentrating the deepest of a storm into an orb above the hand and hurling it for the tiefling apprentice. By the time any had a chance to glance back to where the mass of chaotic energy came from, the man has already ducked into the brush to hide once more.
Movement: To BK-60.
Action: Cast Chaos Bolt on Tiefling Apprentice, augmented by Subtle Spell Metamagic(1sp) and Empowered(1sp) to re-roll the whole set. Attack: 21 Damage: 9 of ??? damage. Re-rolled/New Total: 13, choosing the [8] making it Thunder damage.
(@Lerus: I couldn't get a straight answer one way or another in regards to cast spells from stealth, and whether that would take away the advantage from those with attack spells. So, using subtle to keep the advantage and avoid any counterspelling(if applicable). /If/ however ruled differently for both cases, then nevermind the expenditure)
(Also, if the area he is manuevering around is consider difficult terrain, assume he'll accept a cover penalty, and so moved only enough for the shot before relocating and hiding.)
Harper comes out of hiding with a Chaos bolt already in hands. He chucks it at the bald Thayan tiefling apprentice, hitting him with an explosion of sound that nearly deafens him. Blood drips from the magic user's ears and he takes a knee involuntarily, evidence that he is now quite weakened.
He looks up, planning on retaliating, but can't findHarper anywhere.
The Thayan wearing the fancier robes of all finally enters the fray. He does so by grabbing a severed snake's tongue dipped in some sort of sweet-smelling oil, turning to face Olisara, and suggesting that she "ensures that he, the Red Wizard, escapes from this fight alive on one of the griffons."
-> Olisara's WIS saving throw {DC 14}: 20
Olisara's elvish mastery of charming magic comes in handy (Fey Ancestry). She brushes off the Red Wizard's attempt at influencing her mind and prepares to make him pay. The Wizard does not wait, making his way towards the griffons anyway {BV-63}.
(Captain Aleyd and Brother Keefe are up next. Aleyd needs to arrive at the battlefield still. Keefe is in melee with the Thayan tiefling warrior.)
Captain Aleyd finally hears the types of sounds that necessitate her interruption. She dashes out of her hiding place and arrives at the battlefield {BY-72} while wielding her [Tooltip Not Found].
She arrives just in time to see Brother Keefe attempting to inflict wounds on a Thayan warrior, but the tiefling raises his shield just in time to force the spell to waste against it instead of his flesh.
END OF INITIATIVE ROUND 1
(OOC: Please refer to my latest post in the OOC chat. I'll have to stop here tonight, but should be able to post the updated initiative tracker for round 2 sometime tomorrow.)
The drow cultist curses the sunlight, for were it not for it, he would have been able to keep track of the other drow elf in the battlefield. Instead, he aims a finger in the general direction where he last saw Chaab and fires a spell. After a couple of seconds, it bursts into a ball of silvery sparkles, which spreads over the area in which both Aleyd and Chaab are standing:
Trusting Captain Aleyd to handle herself well, Chaab appears from beyond the tree he had just ducked behind and shoots an arrow at Brother Keefe's assailant.
While his hidden position should give Chaab an edge over his target, the sunlight is too strong and he is slow to aim. The arrow hits the tiefling's shield and remains stuck there.
Chaab changes his position a bit in order to keep the enemies guessing {CB-67}. (Cunning Action: 23.)
Having already decided to cut down the priest who got a bit too close to the griffons, the Thayan warrior twice brings down his blade on Brother Keefe's chest:
-> Longsword vs. Brother Keefe: Attack: 24 Damage: 9
-> Longsword vs. Brother Keefe: Attack: 6Damage: 7
The first slash hits true, but the second is neither strong or well-placed enough to get past the Kelemvorite's new armor. (Brother Keefe takes 9 slashing damage.)
Olisara plans to make the air around a the Red Wizard and at least one ally shatter violently, but her opponent quickly attempts a Counterspell incantation. Though he was not prepared for the bard to channel more magical power into her spell than needed, the Red Wizard still manages to force her attempt to fizzle harmlessly.
A bit irritated but still maintaining her superior poise, Olisara changes vantage points. She can better see the sickly griffons from there.
Struggling to kept herself standing, the bald female tiefling forces her own form to blur and distances herself {BO-73}.
The Cult Fanatic who is closer to Olisara attempt to magically restrain her. The other one approaches Captain Aleyd {BY-68} and tries to do the same.
-> WIS saving throw {DC 11}:
Captain Aleyd: 24
Olisara: 5
The Black Fist Captain barely notices the attempt on her freedom. Olisara, however, freezes in place. The cultist communicates loudly to his allies that he got the elf songstress incapacitated.
Seeing his partner in crime lock up in place, the Harper sneaks around cover for a better angle on the situation. Annoyance flashes across his face seeing one of the cultists focused on her direction, if not turning away from it, and in that moment is judged to be the culprit. And though he 'felt' the weave about him churn like a building storm, the temptation to call upon is resisted. For this one he would the more 'mundane' means of a sling and bullet sufficed, hopefully cracking his cultist upside the head prior to disappearing again behind the brush.
Movement: To BJ-58.
Action: Sneak attack with Sling of Certain Death at Cultist(BN-59). Attack: 27 Damage: 24 of magical bludgeoning damage.
Harper carries a beautiful and detailed leather sling. No one looking at it would doubt it to be an enchanted weapon. He puts it to use with one of the accompanying magic bullets and hits the closest enemy right at the temple. The cultist staggers and almost falls, but remains on his feet after all. (Cult Fanatic #2 takes 24 magical bludgeoning damage.)
Not only that, but the fanatic also manages to keep concentration on the magical hold on Olisara. Harper steps back behind a tree before the cultist can spot him, but it is pretty obvious that the half-elf sorcerer failed to achieve that this time.
The Red Wizard reaches one of the griffons {BX-61} but launches a magic missile at the nearby threat before he begins mounting the winged creature. The spark splits into three projectiles and hits Brother Keefe on the chest. (BrotherKeefe takes 12 force damage.)

Aleyd smiles at the Drow Cultist before her. The others might be better at subterfuge, better at stealth, better at subtler arts. But Aleyd Hyacinth Burral, she was made for moments such as this. She was made for battle.
Swinging at the Drow in powerful two-handed diagonal strikes, she calls upon Torm to help vanquish her enemies.
Attack 1: 17 Damage: 14
Attack 2: 24 Damage: 14
(OOC Spending a level 1 spell slot to make one attack a divine smite to add 2d8 or 10 radiant damage. If the Drow falls, AHB will book it full speed towards Keefe and the griffons.)
Captain Aleyd finally gets a chance to swing her blade, and her opponent is a worthy one. He is less armored than the the Black Fist captain, but he is very skilled with his shield. Aleyd swings her magical blade diagonally, but the Drow cultists bashes her attack with his circular shield. Her blade is not stopped, only deflected, and the experienced captain knows this to mean that she is stronger than her opponent. She uses this knowledge to her advantage with a second diagonal swing, forcing the drow to try blocking it with his sword arm instead. Aleyd overpowers the elf's blade and slashes his shoulder in what turn out to be quite a painful swordsmanship lesson. (Drow Cultist takes 16 slashing and radiant damage.)
Despite the successful slash, Captain Aleyd notices that she is still sparkling. This must mean that she did not hit her foe hard enough to force him to lose concentration on his unholy magic spell.

Hearing the sounds of battle commencing Aleyd Burral doesn't hesitate, drawing weapon and shield and dashing up the slope.
Pumping her arms and legs she arrives, ready to survey the scene and said her companions.
(OOC Happy to be placed wherever on the map as I can't see where the slope would bring Burral.)
Brother Keefe draws his hand back and reaches out to touch the Thayan Tiefling Warrior.
"Do not fear death!" says Brother Keefe.
Brother Keefe will cast Inflict Wounds at 2nd level.
Attack: 15 Damage: 29
