"Should've taken the truce my friend." Harper cockily says as he puts away the dagger, only to conjure a whip of electricity, and lash out with it while hoping back. Between the power of the spell and throwing his full weight into it, knocking the skeletal that much more easily off balance had been the hope. The fiery undead turns to look at the insult slinger. Olisara notices that his cranium cracks open as he turns. (Blazing Skeleton takes 8 psychic damage and has disadvantage on his next attack.)
-> Harper's beginning-of-turn CON saving throw {DC 11}: 16
Harper delivers a little verbal jab of his own and takes advantage of the distraction to slip past his assailant. He then cracks a lightning whip at the undead, right around the spine, and pulls it closer {BK-63} just as the whip discharges. (Blazing Skeleton takes 7 lightning damage.)
-> Harper's CON saving throw {DC 11} for re-entering the AoE with the pull: 18 Damage: 3
Harper pays for his little maneuver with a patch of burnt skin. (Harper takes 4 fire damage.)
After feeling the flames getting a little too close, Harper expends the last charge of his magical rod in a calculated self-pain-inflicting move. The lightning arc bends in strange directions, only licking the intended target. (Blazing Skeleton takes 8 lightning damage.)
(@MB: I'm afraid that AHB is still 35 feet away from her target after moving, so the javelin throws are made with disadvantage. Here are two extra attack rolls to account for that: 10 and 15.)

Grabbing a javelin in each hand, Captain AHB runs forward and launches them simultaneously at the last remaining enemy. From behind her, Brother Keefe rings his magical bells once more.
The creature focus on resisting the spell and, although it is successful in that endeavor, it fails to notice the approaching projectiles. One lands a foot or so to its left, but the other rips right through the flames and strikes the creature's spine. It completely dismantles it and its flames. (Blazing Skeleton takes 9 piercing damage and is DEFEATED.)
YOU ARE NOW OUT OF INITIATIVE. YOU MAY DO AS YOU WILL.
Brother Keefe breathes heavily and looks around at the fallen.
"Well that was a terrible experience."
Brother Keefe walks in between Captain Aleyd and Chaab.
"Thank you. I thought that warrior was going to carve me up."
Brother Keefe winces at his pain.
"Well apparently he did a decent job of it but I'm still alive."
Brother Keefe walks over to the griffon that tried to fly away and will attempt to lead it back to the other griffons. Gently patting it along the way. He will then inspect these collars to see if he can remove them from the griffons.

Brother Keefe perks up at the mention of searching the tent.
"Yes! The only undead I detected was that abomination we just killed. It was housed in the tent so no doubt there is likely more evil within there!"
Brother Keefe looks back to the Griffons and announces to all.
"These poor griffons are in great pain. They have been exposes to magical and chemical elements in their life by looking at their wounds. And this collar here, it has some runes on it that I believe are causing them to suffer. Would anyone know more about these magical things?(Based on prior post from 10/24 these would require anarcana check.)

Harper pats himself down if only to make sure nothing caught ablaze from the creature. After which though, he tried effecting an air of cool and calm in the presence of others, bruises and and burns be damned. "That was certainly exciting," He said offhandedly."Certainly more than it needed to be, it feels."He pointedly looked in the direction of brother Keefe, or at least wherever the man ran off to. "But yea, sure. I'll see to them in a bit."
A later smile would convey no actual issue taken, and without another word, he politely ignores AHB's suggestion, and instead 'helps' in the searching the bodies for anything of interest. Brother Keefe had that well and It mattered not if it was a spellbook, odd fetish, or even a grocery list said body happen to have on it. Everything is given a once over, and most things are collected to be show to the others. Starting with the Red Wizard, who Harper happened to have been closest to since the whole debacle.
When that's done, and assuming someone hadn't beaten him to the punch, THEN he sees to Brother Keefe's stupid birds that nearly spoiled the whole mission in more ways than one.
(@Lerus: Not sure if a separate roll or simply adv. assumed given for the Investigation, but if separate.. her goes one from Harper: 13.)
The group takes a chance to let their shoulders drop and sigh collectively. Nonetheless, they do not waste time in scavenging and investigating.
Brother Keefe leads the astray griffon back to its brethren. While walking, he performs a quick investigation of the magical collars and guesses that there must be a way to remove them. That is as far as he gets, though. He has no idea how to go about it. Eventually, Harper comes to his aid and analyses the collars from an arcana perspective. The glowing runes on the collars are as clear as day to the sorcerer. They control and corrupt the creatures, though they are not the only source of their ailment. He also concludes that removing the collars could be accomplished by disturbing the magic on the runes (a.k.a. dealing magical damage to them.)
Spurred on by AHB and Brother Keefe, Olisara takes the lead in exploring the tent. In it, she finds a set of simple furniture and light refreshments. She deduces the Thayans were using it as a waiting area before their meeting. More interestingly, there is a slightly charred wooden chest, which suggests it was being guarded by the undead creature. Upon close inspection, Olisara realizes the chest is locked.
Meanwhile, Captain AHB and Harper have been searching the bodies. Here's what they find apart from clothes and worthless trinkets:
Restocking her supply of javelins, AHB also stops to collect a shield. While it did little to protect its previous owners, she guessed she would rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
"I'm not sure there's much here for me, but I suspect there are things here that might interest others. Right now we need to find out what's in this box and see if we can't do something for the griffons. Harper, Olisara, I believe those tasks will suit your particular skillsets more than mine or Keefe's."
Harper more than happily confiscates the shortsword, hand, crossbow, and vial of drow poison, provided Chaab or Olivara didn't raise much of a fuss. The same for the coin and spellbook too, having known another wizard that could perhaps benefit from it. And if not, the man was something of an arcane dabbler all the same.
"Actually, that weapon of yours seems to be just what those overgrown and underfed chickens can use, Cap'n. A few good whacks of something enchanted on those runes aughta do the trick. Though, you'll have to figure out the other half of their ailment yourself." He admits, then rubs chin in thought for a moment before adding more alongside a toothy grin. "But, I'm sure a woman of your resourcefulness and unique talents might have something for that too."
He looks to everyone else. "Now on to the chest. You may wish to step a ways back just in case I overlook something. Though granted, that's unlikely, but-..." The sorcerer trailed off there giving a hapless shrug, and waits to give people a chance to move some distance. Turning back, Harper waggles his fingers, reaches inside his pockets, and...
"Oh dear. Chaab, you wouldn't happen have, uhm, very particular toothpicks on hand, would you? Can't rightly get this chest to open without them, if you catch my drift."

Harper seems taken aback by the last part, but modestly accepted them with a nod. And he certainly wouldn't turn down the advice from the elf as he set to work; trusting the rumors of their elven ears being quite keen.
