As Ser Knewt and Davik along with the others venture into the darkened alley, Ser Knewt turns to Davik and says, "The Spires of the Morning is a true marvel of architecture. The way the spires catch and reflect the light from the rising sun, much like a beacon of hope within the darkness of the sleeping city. I would be honored to have you attend service as my guest." Ser Knewt smiles up at the elf who he has been speaking with for quite a few minutes now.
He notes his spring like appearance and wonders to himself if Lathander might not have arranged their meeting for a greater purpose. He soon sets the thougt aside noting that the musings of a deity such as Lathander are beyond a lowly goblin. Still he can't get it out of his head and keeps circling back to it, worrying it like a wolf pup on a bone.
There was a time when Davik was in a dark place, and he couldn’t feel or embody anything but the darkest depths of winter. At his lowest, he thought he was perhaps stuck that way forever, never again to experience happiness or joy. Years went by like that, decades. But for a while now, just recently, his fortunes have been changing, and he’s able to embrace the hopes of spring once again, relishing each new day for the gift that it is, and throwing himself into new opportunities as they arise.
His face lights up again looking at Ser Knewt and he says, “Yes!”, with great enthusiasm (but quietly). “When we’ve found Volo’s friend, or if we get a few hours to kill, I would like that very much!”.
Davik nods again to Ser Knewt, then turns to Raiko besides them: “Raiko, does your line of work bring you out this way much? Or perhaps your downtime does? Are you familiar with these streets? Or the warehouse districts?”.
Sorry for the wait. Eyes are still acting up but will try to add things now and more later as things get better.
Jorah moves forward hugging the darkness. The building is a ramshackle two story warehouse. It stands at the back of an outer yard behind a high fence. The kobold sees that the gate on the fence isn't locked.
Davik moves forward also shedding lights where he can.
The building’s three points of entry — a front door, a large warehouse loading door, and a painted-over window — are locked. The front door has a sliding peephole that can be opened from the inside.
For those who are actively looking for ways in .
Either of the doors or the window can be unlocked by a character who makes a successful DC 12 Dexterity check using thieves’ tools, or can be forced open with a successful DC 10 Strength (Athletics) check.
OOC: Didn't make a move for everyone and for that i am sorry. You all get an inspiration point for the great RP.
"Are we expecting a fight?"Duncan says to the group as some start to case the building, finding entrances and exits. Assuming the answer received is 'yes,' he nods and moves towards the front door away from the peep hole and is ready to kick the door in at the group's ready. He's ready, excited, and nervous at the same time to continue testing his skills
Jorah ponders for a moment, before nodding, "Fight? Likely, yes. Kidnapping, likely, means that pink man is being guarded." He then points up to the painted window, "I will go up and circle around. After 60 counts (1 min), sneak or attack through the front. Sound good?" As he speaks, he seems already to have his mind, set on the plan, as he readies his thriving gear and takes a few steps back to start scaling the wall of the building up to the window. His clawed digits stretching slightly as he politely waves the confirmation of the group, before rushing off to execute his plan. He gives a polite tug to his hood, making sure it covers as much of his snout as it can.
(for confirmation/clarification, he's not doing it yet. He's waiting to hear if someone has a better plan or wants to do something else)
Davik says to Jorah, "I like that plan...", nodding thoughtfully, and then adds, "but before you go up, lets check all the entry-points together, for traps or alarms...".
And turning to the rest of the group, he says"...don't forget, our priority is just to find Volo's friend. If the opportunity arises to negotiate or make demands we should take it. If push comes to shove though, and we need to fight, then we fight to subdue first, NOT kill..... ...Caught in a fight, is one thing, murder is entirely something else... Agreed?". His face looks uncharacteristically serious and also slightly haunted. He looks at each of his companions in turn for agreement...
(OOC: assuming people don't actively disagree, then Davik will take the help action to give Jorah advantage checking for traps).
"Ready when you guys are." Ruvin says, nodding to the plan. "Best not take too long at checking things, or we will lose any chance at taking them by surprise." He stands near the main door, his hand crossbow already in hand and about ten feet away from the door, so he can shoot through it once it is kicked inwards.
Ser Knewt moves off to the side and out of the way of his larger companions. He lacks the skills that the nimble Jorah possesses to scale a building and sneak his way in. Not for the first time he wonders why he is so different from his old tribe mates. They would surely be able to keep up with the stealthy kobold. He stands ready with a javelin to throw should the need present itself. He nods to anyone looking at him to signal his readiness.
Seeing at least a few head nods, Jorah gives a thumbs up before rushing off from the ground, scampering up the side of the building, before reaching the window. Attempting to be as quiet and careful as possible, he brings his body inside.
After checking over the exterior, Davik helps boost Jorah up towards the window, and then settles immediately to the left of the large loading door, his back against the wall.
He watches Jorah disappear inside and waits, listening keenly to any sounds inside, while silently counting down from 60.
Once he's in the window, Jorah does indeed start mentally counting down from 60, quickly examining whatever room he's in. If there was someone in there, he'd keep hidden, before moving onto the other room, looking for the pink haired one. If not dpotting him, he simply keeps an eye out for items of use.
Duncannods, and seeing the others prepare to breach into the warehouse starts his own count. When he feels it's time he'll attempt to kick in the door, scan the room, and deal with any threats (he almost is hoping there is a threat) inside.
( I ll let Jorah do something once before moving to the others. )
For Jorah:
As you peer into the large room inside the building through the window he sees four short, avian creatures with long beaks and black feathers in the middle of the warehouse? each have hooded cloaks and are wielding a shortsword.
It seems that main business here is recruiting, training, and equipping sellswords. Crates packed with weapons, rations, boots, black uniforms, and other gear fill the warehouse.
Tables and chairs have been carelessly tossed across the floor. The corpses of a dozen men lie along the walls, their rapier and daggers lying nearby. On the north side of the area, stairs rise to an open level above.
Duncan stands to the side of the main door ready to open the way.
( Could you tell me where each of you are before we begin.)
Ser Knewt is off to the side out of the way of the larger members of the party who no doubt would surge forth should they encounter any resistance. He would want to have a good field of vision to cast spells or javelins through the doorway until he could enter the warehouse.
Davik is waiting immediately to the left of the large loading door (listening and counting), his back against the wall there (ready to step into the open doorway, if need be, after it’s smashed in).
Jorah, noting the birds, racks his brain for a moment, before quietly retreating back down the side of the building and going back around to let the others know what he saw. In a hushed tone, he quickly counts off the details, "Blackbird people. Short. Well-armed. Lots of dead, might be a trap, be careful." With that message delivered, he quickly scampers back towards the window, this time, attempting to quietly enter without being noticed.
(I'll roll stealth again since this feels like it might be another roll XP) Stealth: 27
To start Rubin is ten feet straight back from the door, with his hand crossbow in hand and ready to shoot through the door once it opens. He will move up to the side of the door once the melee fighters go inside, into a position to shoot through the door and move out of line of sight after each shot.
The night air around the building is heavy. It may be the tension building up as the possible confrontation is looming. A few people, seeing the group gather and the way they act leave the area in a hurry knowing full well that violence is possible.
Jorah's warning hangs in the air as the group begins to shift their positions. The little dragon kin leaves the party once more aiming for the window.

The quick survey of the building reveals nothing more.
