Crownsguard nods, “It would be highly concerning if he was also a werewolf. Imagine a wolf-spider. Wait... In any case, I am thankful that we halted the spread before such a change could occur.”

"Want me ta take th' lead this time Ink? If Marav tries ta bite me ah'll remind 'im o' th' mark on 'is face. Maybe ye should mark our faces as well, just ta be sure."

Marav just shakes his head and heads back up the hall toward the branch we didn't go down.

Ink laughs. 

"I'll happily let you take the lead behind Marav, Flint. I think he's bearing left on that fork in the passage ahead," Ink says.

Noting Marav the Spider walking silently, Ink tries the same. 

Stealth 16 

Eventually, bearing left through the tunnel passages, you find daylight. The westernmost tunnel branch opens high upon a windswept mountainside. The slope is very steep here, treacherously so, and icy as well, though there are abundant handholds suitable for climbing. 

You have encountered no resistance so far; no other spiders have met you in the tunnels. There is still a northern branch back a ways that you haven’t tried yet in the tunnels, or you are welcome to climb around the mountainside if you like.

Ink peeks out his head and says, "I've no intention of climbing around out there while we have a perfectly good airship parked at the temple's front door. Let's continue through that northern branch back there."

Marav goes back the other way.

Marav's ice spider form has no trouble navigating these tunnels, and he is able to skitter along just fine despite his large size.

The tunnel leads eventually to another cavern, this one much larger than the spider queen's chamber. Your vision here is obscured by translucent ice spider webs that fill the cavern. The ceiling of the natural cave hangs 30 feet above you, supported by five rocky columns. The floor here is relatively flat, at least as far as you can see.

Ink looks for Marav as he walks in the room with Flint and Crownsguard.

"Marav," Ink calls out, "let us know where you are so we don't burn the web you're on. Need to clear out these webs."

Ink stows the pole of collapsing and removes a torch, lighting it with Flint's. Once he has the all clear from Marav, he burns the webs.

The sticky, icy webs in the room are easily smashed and melted with fire. Doing so reveals three cocoons, all roughly human-sized, all hanging perfectly still in the frozen cavern.

Flint moves in, pulls down a cocoon, and tries to peel back the webbing around its face.

The first cocoon contains the exsanguinated body of an adult mountain goat.

Flint will continue  to examine the cocoons.

Crownsguard will examine the other.

Opening the second cocoon reveals a long-dead shield dwarf, wearing a tattered fur cloak and clutching a miner’s pick close to his chest. 

The final cocoon holds a woman with tattoos showing her to be a member of the Uthgardt Great Worm tribe. A silver torc graces her muscled neck, and frost forms crests on her brow and upper lip.

Crownsguard will feel for a pulse and attempt to put 1 point of lay on hands into her.

Ink searches the dwarf, with particular interest in any names or markers commenting, "He likely still has family alive - I'm sure they'd appreciate the closure."

Then noticing what Crownsguard found, he asks, "Is she alive?" 

If no one has already, Ink will place his ear above her nose and mouth listening for breath.

Crownsguard responds, “Testing...”

The woman gasps as life flows back into her, and she begins to panic. She struggles to rise, stumbling in the cave, looking wildly around, trying to get some distance from you and some sense of her surroundings. 

Crownsguard waves, “Hello User: Strong Lady, welcome to being alive again. It is very weird. I should know, it happened to me. I am Crownsguard, your robotic resuscitative, rescuer. Are you feeling amiable?”
