The fire giant draws near as Flint struggles to climb the rising ladder. Thankfully, the rest of you manage to climb quick and fast enough that you are able to take actions before the giant reaches you. You notice that Delsephine is giving orders, and the crew is beginning to turn the ship about and fly eastwards.
The giant is well over 200 feet away, but closing. What do you do?
Ink, last one to reach the ladder, grabs the bottom rung sends a message to Captain Delsephine.... "CLIMB AS FAST AS YOU CAN AND GET MOVING (insert direction opposite the giant) - FIRE GIANT INCOMING!"
7-12 seconds
Then, when he can, Ink will cast fog cloud (@ 2nd level) creating a 40' radii fog cloud towards the side of the ship facing the fire giant and slightly below.
13-18 seconds
As he continues to climb, Ink takes a bead of sweat from his brow and concentrates, the ilse rune flashes and the bead of sweat freezes. Ink touches his brow with the ice and is immediately covered in an icy mantle.
Icy Mantle. As an action, you can touch yourself or another creature with water on your finger. The water creates an icy mantle of protection. The next time within the next minute that the target takes bludgeoning, slashing, or piercing damage, that damage is reduced to 0, and the mantle is destroyed. Once you use this property, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Everyone else (besides Ink) has a third round action that they can use, including Flint, who is 25’ up the starboard ladder. On this third round, the ship begins to rise 10’ and the crewmember is currently engaging the propeller to accelerate the ship into a portside turn.
It is a simple matter for two people to use their action to haul Flint aboard.
"That's like asking if you could trip over a mosquito. Besides they don't have the range for that... this however might work" Matrix mans one of the balista, carefully taking aim at the giant. "Cant leave you guys alone for 10 minutes without something trying to kill you.... I should have charged double"
Crownsguard will lumber over to Matrix and stand behind him. He will then reach over his shoulders and grab the handles with Matrix, his statuesque dwarven face presses next to Matrix, “I will bless the weapon, you aim and fire when you deem fit. Agreed?”
Crownsguard uses Sacred Weapon: As an action you can imbue a weapon with positive energy. For 1 minute, the weapon is considered magical, you add +3 to attack rolls, it emits bright light for 20 ft. and dim light for 20 ft beyond that. You can end the effect as part of any other action, if you are no longer holding the weapon, or if you fall unconscious.

Ink approaches the edge of the ship closest to the fire giant, sheathing his swords (he'll pull his bow out next round), and casts message pointing where he imagines the giant would be past the fog cloud and says in GIANT, "We are on a mission from Amman the All-Father... The last fire giant to interfere was named Zaastrid... Do not share her fate."
You hear the giant shout in the jotun language, <Working for the All-Father? You lie, weirdner! Show yourself and surrender the star metal.> There is hesitation in his booming voice.
The propeller kicks in and takes you away from the fog cloud as the airship continues to slowly rise, revealing the fire giant at a distance of less than 100 feet away, on the ground. The giant holds a rock in hand, ready to throw.
