Ink leans over to Rip, whispering, "I don't trust them. That injury the younger man had did not come from a club or rock. Something feels off about it."
Then sitting up straighter, "So what's your idea? I still have a laundry list of things to do before the sun goes down, so how can I be of help?"
"well we want those things after us not the villagers, so i say we make the hut out in the open and easily seen. providing of course they cant break into it or something of course. that way we draw their ire to us. do you have to stay awake to keep the hut going?"
"No. I can rest within it, but there's a possibility that an arcanist could cast dispel magic on it. Other than that, it's impenetrable - but it's a dome so they could dig into it, I suppose. I'm not entirely sure. I did consider your same idea. And it is worth trying for the sake of the townsfolk. Speaking of the day's terrible results - the rapier I gave you earlier, the one on your hip there - you should have Flint take a look at it, perhaps identify it - perhaps it'll give us further insight into what we're dealing with, or be helpful in some other way - I know you mentioned you didn't want to use it... that's fine, that's your prerogative."
Leomund's Tiny Hut
A 10-foot-radius immobile dome of force springs into existence around and above you and remains stationary for the duration. The spell ends if you leave its area.
Nine creatures of Medium size or smaller can fit inside the dome with you. The spell fails if its area includes a larger creature or more than nine creatures. Creatures and objects within the dome when you cast this spell can move through it freely. All other creatures and objects are barred from passing through it. Spells and other magical effects can’t extend through the dome or be cast through it. The atmosphere inside the space is comfortable and dry, regardless of the weather outside.
Until the spell ends, you can command the interior to become dimly lit or dark. The dome is opaque from the outside, of any color you choose, but it is transparent from the inside.
"well considering it was whispering to me a minute ago i think i will have Flint look it over" Rip then presents the blade to flint "would you give this a look-see for me?"
"well considering it was whispering to me a minute ago i think i will have Flint look it over" Rip then presents the blade to flint "would you give this a look-see for me?"
"It was whispering to you? Well, that's... interesting," Ink replies with a half-hearted puzzled expression. "Yes, perhaps it's best that Flint take a look at it. In any case, keep an eye on those brothers - they're holding something back and I don't buy their story. Also, I have things to do for me and us. I'll return shortly, definitely before sundown. Decide among yourselves where we should rest tonight and I'll follow along."
Off to do the below, I already calculated in the short rest earlier:
...and then go outside to find the general store and the weapon/armor smith, seeking incense and herbs and arrows at the first, and more arrows at the second.
As he's walking through the streets, he'll pick up any arrows he sees that could still be usable, whether it be shot by Marav, Ink, or the skeletons.
Ink also says that he plans on returning to the burnt forest to see if the Tree Ghosts return, and, if possible, collect the dead wight's studded leather armor to bring it back to Flint in the hopes that it, along with his own leather armor could be combined to make some proper studded leather armor. (perhaps magical as this guy was a proven fighter for centuries!)
He will then discuss the theoretical possibility of imbuing it with magical defensive properties, offering his knowledge of mage armor and shield in combination with Flint's skill and divine abilities for armor making. // Arcane/divine armor? Yes, please! (If possible - LOL) // (discussed in PM, this is more flavor than anything)
He also tells Flint his observations regarding the new weapons, specifically, how ever since he attuned to the scimitar, he's not been as good at handling any other weapon continuing that he's seen too much in his long life to assume that this is coincidence.
// Away, I take it we'll adjust the above based on environmental factors as they arise - for instance a giant skeleton standing on top of the keep..... ha! Figured I'd break it out with bullet points as there's a lot in there, and I am guessing it'd be better for both of us if I parse it out somehow. //
In the village, you notice that most doors are closed and windows are shuttered. The keep is still swarming with longbow-wielding skeletons. How close do you want to try and get?
Ink will just wave super friendly, "Hey guys - don't mind me, just looking to buy some things from the nice townsfolk here. And we need some arrows for hunting later - something about a hill giant - I don't know. Anyways, I'll be walking around - thanks!"
The closest Ink is willing to get, provided he doesn't incur a hail of arrows, is about ninety feet east of the keep's walls, near the three stones (// I moved my token in Roll20 the furthest west he's willing to go, only because due north of that is where the wight Ink took out with the fireball was left. // ) He picks up whatever usable arrows he can find in the vicinity. As he moves toward the keep from the inn, he'll check pretty regularly to see if the skeletons start threading their bows and arrows to shoot at Ink. Ink will stop moving towards the building if any skeletons actually knock an arrow to the bow.
// deleted general store search pending results of above //
As he walks west towards the keep on his search for usable arrows, Ink keeps an eye out for a general store along the path.
As Ink gets within 40 yards of the keep, the skeletons see him and begin to nock their arrows. Backing off causes them to let down their arms. He’s able to find 5 arrows at this range, and searching the woods for several minutes will turn up 5 more.

// What’s everyone else doing? //
While in the woods, if the wight's burnt studded leather armor is still there, he'll take it and throw it in the bag of holding. Ink goes the long way back to town (completing the circle) still seeking a general store or the like.
From your recollection, giants have generally avoided the younger races. Such a concentration of activity is unheard of, as far as you know, in the last few millennia.
(Found it! The original was "From your recollection, giants have historically stood apart from the younger races. Hill giants are easily duped into service of various evil entities, but as long as you've been aware, it is practically unheard of to find giants wandering around wreaking such havoc as you've heard described recently." So yeah pretty close.)

The only place that you know of for sure is the cottage of the butcher/baker whom you previously visited. There are no signs here and no blacksmith or general supplier; it is obvious that this village of several dozen people gets by on their few tended gardens and hunting, and likely trading with their neighbors for any needed supplies.
The doors around you remain closed, or slam closed when you draw near.
//How strange indeed. Btw, has it been 4 hours yet?//
// Not yet, just wanna get a sense of what everyone else is doing. I'm assuming Marav is taking his long rest, but would like to know what Rip and Flint are up to while Ink is out and about. //

Seemingly frustrated, Ink cries out, "Ay citizens of Noanar's Hold - know where I can get some arrows?!? They're needed for some hunting! I am trying to be nice and calm about this, but you all are trying my patience!"
Seemingly frustrated, Ink cries out, "Ay citizens of Noanar's Hold - know where I can get some arrows?!? They're needed for some hunting! I am trying to be nice and calm about this, but you all are trying my patience!"
Silence for several moments...and then, down the street, a double-hung door opens—just on the bottom—and a quiver half-full of arrows is thrown out on to the dirt road. The bottom half of the door is then shut once more.
Ink leans over to Rip, whispering, "I don't trust them. That injury the younger man had did not come from a club or rock. Something feels off about it."
