Ink recognizing the man, calls out, "BRONSON, you're the one getting court-martialed?" Then, whispering, "Did you really say what they said you said?"
He looks at the soldiers and asks, "Does he really need to be in chains? It's not like he'll cause any of you harm or grief. He just has a habit of putting his foot in his mouth..."
"Who is the one accusing him?"
The soldiers on guard nod stoically at you, but give no answer.
"I'm afraid the chains are for my own good," says Bronson. The older elf looks much more worn than you remember, as if the years haven't been kind. "I was drunk on duty, and apparently I said some rather lewd things to the lady of the hold. The captain has turned a blind eye to much of the drinking, but this is a political machination. Everlund needs the holds, and so the lord's demand for justice must be met with the proper measure.
“I believe there'll be a public flogging, and I'll likely be discharged from the Army. That's how these things usually work, when they are enforced.”
// Just let me know when you're ready to get going on to Everlund, and if there's any changes from last time in your behavior (travel order, etc) and if there's anything specific you wanted to try and do on the way. //
//flint has nothing else here but looks like ink made some discoveries. Did we find out if the barbarian corpse sighting was on the way to everlund?//
The soldier is able to give you landmark directions—"about two hours past the Horse's Mouth Inn, there's a stream that crosses under the road and heads west to a small lake. The lake is where we found the bodies."
//Marav will end up running into battle, get separated then attempt to take on something he can't damage by himself... you know our standard operating procedure.//
//I don't think Marav has been knocked out yet. Druids have too many HP and heals in shape shift. I can't do magical damage in those forms, but I can be a pain sponge... absorbing pain for the party.//
// Sorry all - only have time to pipe up every other day as of late, I'll try to increase the postings - I just got home from work, so I figured I'd post before bed. //
"Apparently? Were there other witnesses? This seems like a frame up. I cannot believe that they discharge you for this. Why have the Holds become so important?"
Then, looking again at the two guards, "Come on gents, I know you can offer more than just a nod? What say for a fellow soldier looking out for a friend?"
One of the soldiers says nothing and shakes his head. The other pipes up, "Serves him right for ruining it for the rest of us!"
Bronson shrugs at the insinuations, and says, "I don't smell a conspiracy. Several of my men corroborate the story that I was too drunk to remember at the time. And it's not exactly out of character for me...well, you know," and he gives Ink a wry smile.
He sighs. "It'll be alright. I'll be fine, and I'll still be able to find work. Figure I might try somewhere closer to Waterdeep or Neverwinter, get out of the Silver Marches. Maybe something quieter this time, like an apothecary assistant or curator for a wealthy family."
A voice comes from outside the tent, belonging to the commanding officer: "time's up. The hold lord's on his way to question the prisoner. You need to make yourself scarce."
Feeling the hurry, Ink says to Bronson, "Very well, no need to Harp about this - perhaps we'll look back and laugh on it. I'll stay on a bit to see the proceedings through though."
On the way out he tells the soldier who piped up, "You very well know you all were thinking and acting alike - he's just the one to get caught - careless perhaps, but he's still one of us... Treat him as such."
On the way out he thanks the CO, again, and asks - "Anything you can tell me of the hold's lord? Fair? Stickler for rules? A jealous man? What does in store for my old my platoon-mate? And I know - I owe you a favor."

The soldiers on guard duty are shamefaced, and avoid looking Ink in the eyes.
Outside, Ink can see a man dressed in furs and silk approaching along the wall, a small retinue in tow. "He's right over there, and I don't really know the man—but I expect any husband has a right to be jealous when it comes to his wife. I'll smooth things over best as I can, but there's nothing I can do to avoid kicking old Bronson out of the Army."
When Ink mentions a favor, the officer brightens and reaches into his pack. "We're stationed here for the foreseeable future, so I don't suppose we'll be collecting on this bounty anytime soon," he says, handing over a poster. On the parchment is written,
WANTED ALIVE: Worvil "the Weevil" Forkbeard, for crimes against Mirabar. REWARD: 5000 gold pieces.
"Figure you can look into it. He and his band of brigands raided some caravans along the Vale last year, and word is he's likely holed up somewhere near the coast after raiding Mirabar not that long ago. With all this giant business, and goblins and orcs being more active, we can't spare the manpower to go after him. But I want to see him brought to justice!" He finishes as the lord of hold arrives.
Ink replies, "Thank you for the gesture and effort, he never could keep his mouth shut," Ink replies with a wry yet melancholic grin, "- and my friends and I will look into this Weevil matter. Any specifics on what he looks like and perhaps current or former known associates?"
After the discussion with the CO, Ink will nod respectfully at the Hold's lord as he walks pass taking the opportunity to take in every detail he can of the man, which he will write down later to better remember. He'll do the same if he learns any more of the Weevil.
Ink will share all that transpired with the group, foregoing the visit with the priest as they make preparations to leave for Everlund.
Lezryk clams up again, and spends the next long while stewing, his jaw set.
