OOC: Sorry Sposta, I thought Toots was still in their 20s, like a point or two higher than Tommary HP wise when I scanned sheets before I made my turn. Otherwise I would have foregone a shot at the MP5 and laid some cure wounds down. I have two spell slots left and should be able to blind man's bluff my hands upon she with some cure wounds if we can count on Ely's saving smite agains the compact submachine gun.
OOC: speaking of projecting bursts, The green flame has to leap but rules as reasonable for me doesn't seem to insist on any available living thing, but I do have the player pick the vector of the flame if there's no adversary. If the target is surrounded by the PC's friendlies, sure someone gets burned. Coincidentally, I was cute on one of my game's last session where one of my party's characters used it on a monster it had prior turn put under a net. Rather than having the flame jump, the flame got caught in the netting and torched the net ... this character has a history of one use nets, so it fit a running gag.
OOC: Ilyara's got enough slots left to CLS unless things go terribly wrong. Also I'll let Wysperra tell me if GFB recoils on the caster if there's nothing else to hit and I'll take that damage, but then I would like to request the chance to change cantrips at next level-up, because half of Ilyara's game plan is stacking stuff on GFB and if I'ma be punching myself in the fluff every time I do I really need'a know :P

"On a hit, the target suffers the weapon attack’s normal effects, and you can cause green fire to leap from the target to a different creature of your choice that you can see within 5 feet of it."
That is they key word. "CAN" not must or does. Even without, I wouldn't have that happen, that would be dumb. I try my best not to be dumb.
Of course the spell doesn't say you damage the target either at least until lvl 5 which is really wierd.
Elyona says to Ilyara "Thanks again, Ilyara." Then she closes her eyes, folds her hands ver her chest and prays to Arvoreen. A green glow surrounds her, and a scent of flowers brightens the stench briefly. "Once more into the brink?" she asks, as she runs towards Toots and Tommary.
OOC: 30 HP from lay on hands; 25' of movement toward teh smoke and her compatriots.
As you rush down the hall, all of your metallic items start to heat up immensely.

"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
Ilyara actually can't drop the smoke. That's the benefit and drawback both of the ring - its version of Fog Cloud only lasts a minute, but it requires no concentration from the caster. It just happens, which is great for covering escapes or screwing with people but not great when blindsight critters are using it against you T_T
"Tommary, go save Toots!" Ilyara yelled, drawing her sword and rushing forward herself to aid in handling the last creature up and aware in their vicinity. She opened with another attack from the Traveler's blade, commanding the spiritual weapon to slash at her foe before diving in next to her duplicate. Fauxyara's distracting antics gave Ilyara an extra edge as she traced a skittering vein of foxfire down her blade and struck for the kill, hoping to end the back-here fight so the others could move forward and help Toots.
{Spirit blade attack: Attack: 14 Damage: 4 fizzorce damage.} {And GFB, with advantage from Invoke Duplicity: Attack: 27 Damage: 30, mix of slashing and a bit of fire damage.}
OOC: You know, I was reading an interesting conversation about G-F B a little while ago, and RAW, the green flame MUST jump to another creature within 5-ft of the initial target. If there are no hostiles then it must jump to a non-hostile/friendly creature. And if the only other creature within 5 feet of that target is the caster, then technically the green-flame back flashes on the caster in that case. That’s not RAI AFAIK, but it is technically RAW. Bizarro, right?!?

No worries. Toots was at 29 HP, but then this happened (I just didn’t see it to record it until just before I posted my turn is all 🤷♂️):
“You could help me by dropping this *caughs* damned smoke! That’d be swell.”
Toots moves another 5-10 feet (however far to make sure she’s out of the fire.and then plays [spell]chill touch;a quick dirge[spell] for her new neighbor.
Attack: 22 Damage: 4
At the beginning of Toots' turn she takes Unable to parse dice roll. damage from hot stuff.
When she moves away from the marquopolo it take the opportunity to slash at her with dirty black claws Attack: 21 Damage: 13
Toots can hear the creature sniffling near her before it attacks!
claw Attack: 24 Damage: 12
clawclaw Attack: 24 Damage: 14
Heck, one successful medicine check is enough to stop a PC from dying. It’s not that critical. And if Toots doesn’t survive, she most assuredly won’t be the first PC I’ve had die, heck, I’m not even sure how many PCs I’ve lost over the years. Toots would likely be closer to the 100th than the 1st, I don’t know exactly how many didn’t make it, but I’m pretty darned sure it has been more than 50 so far. (I’m pretty sure I lost close to 50 just in 2e alone. We used to run them 3 PCs/player at a time and always kept a supply of backups on hand.)
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want her to die or anything. But if she does it wouldn’t be your fault, and it wouldn’t be anywhere on the list of great tragedies in my life. Nothing in a D&D campaign could ever be anywhere near all that.
OOC: Ilyara's got enough slots left to CLS unless things go terribly wrong. Never would I ever have actually expected Wysp to rule that way, not in a million years. That was just a little crosstalk at the table. It wasn’t meant as any commentary on this game or Ily’s action, more as a “funny you mention that, I heard on the radio the other day…” kinda thing is all. I only put stuff together in the same post (like this one) to try and cut down on how many times I see my own avatar per page. I know I words too much, and have been trying to stay more conscious of it. I don’t want to flood the thread, and have started feeling like I have been. If I condense stuff together like this, at least I feel less guilty than when I see pages where every third post is one of mine.

Hearing her sword warn her, Elyona's feet freeze just as she was beginning to run. Instead, she yells "Tommary, Toots, you got it up there, or should I brave the furnace?"
Unable to see into the smoke field she'd popped to cover her own escape and unable to shuck all her metal quickly enough to help, Ilyara cursed quietly and sent Fauxyara forward, able to push her illusion to the very edges of the cloud and a step or two into it. Left without any sort of sight of her target and unwilling to risk cooking herself and making the situation worse, Ilyara resorted to a spell she almost never used in combat. Invoking the Traveler's spark of potential within her, she amplified her voice to levels beyond the possible for such a little gal as her and bellowed down the corridor.
"OIY! YOU SALLOW-SUCKING COLOSTOMY BAG! TOO AFRAID TO COME GET THE TOUGH *****ES WHAT DID FOR YER BUDDIES?!"
Without anything else to do but position her duplicate as close to the action as she could and wait for a chance while hoping her taunt worked, Ilyara stood in place, fist white-knuckled around her sword in frustration.
{Illusory Duplicate thirty feet forward, into the edges of the smoke. And whatever else happens. Stay alive, Toots T_T}
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Unable to break the Marquopolo 5's grasp, Tommary instead leans into his captor's embrace, placing his head against its chest and, so cradled, he whispers, "do you really wish for us to be so entwined?
