OOC: I may have missed it from my distracted life here in PA in the IR of 2021, but you know full well that Toots in pseudomedieval Urth would have either insisted the party find a way to bring him along or else she woulda had a whole tear-fillled goodbye scene for a construct she thinks of as “someone,” and therefore 9 is someone she already thinks of as a member of the party. (There would have been crying so hard I would have described the snot bubbles and the puffy eyes.) She would still be all bummed out and depressed ever since leaving him behind since, in game, it’s been… what… uhh… only a couple of hours.
I don’t remember ArwensDaughter ever stated at the beginning of the past two Long Rests that Ely was doffing her armor, nor at the end of either that she was donning it, but that’s okay because we all realize that Ely knows to take care of herself and her gear, including the 55lbs of steel she’s wearing, even if ArwensDaughter doesn’t necessarily think of it.
You’ve not once mentioned that Tommary takes off his pack and his tactical vest before resting, nor that he’s picked it back up again after resting. Does Tommary sleep with his backpack on?
Not a single player in this game has once mentioned our characters pooping, peeing, or even sipping out of our waterskins. Do our characters consume but never expel? Has Toots been topping off full waterskins this whole time? Or do we just presume that our characters handle necessary stuff like bathroom breaks and hydrating because they would have to, but we don’t have to mention it?
By the time we finally got the heck past that gorram room, I (me, Sposta), was more than done with that room twice over I was so frustrated. I was just so happy that room was finally no longer the thing we had to deal with I had already skipped ahead mentally. (Heck all of us kinda started posting less and less around there and still haven’t quite picked up again to pre “that room” levels of posting. I think we were all relieved that room was behind us.) So I, me, Sposta missed the fact that we left 9 behind
Toots has constantly insisted on treating 9 as “one of the group,” and chided the others for not accepting him into the fold. She thinks of him as an Honorary (or at least “Jr”) Waywatcher. She wanted to give him what she considered “a fair share” of the recovered magic items for cryin’ out loud. Can any of you really say that Toots wouldn’t have noticed and wouldn’t have made a fuss about it?!?
Tommary examines the scorpion carcass terrace from their water vantage, trying to determine if this could be safely vaulted down to Perception 21
"Y'all want me to take a jump down there or do we want to take another break to strat-ee-jer-ee?"
The floor of the scorpion pen is covered in a thick layer of sand with a few rocks of various sizes. There are also some bone fragments sticking up out of the ground. It looks like the sand would cushion a short fall.

OOC: Calm, Sposta. I get it, it's a goof. We can sort it out. If nothing else, just do the same chutes-n-ladders Rudi Goldenbyrgh mess again in reverse. We'll collect 9.
Heh, doesn't mean Ilyara trusts him, or won't say "I told you so!" when he tries to eat all our brains in our sleep :P
OOC: I’m not un-calm, just making a point. (Alright, I did maybe get a li’l agitated thinkin’ about that room again. *shudders* I had kinda blocked it out of my mind because we’re past it and I was hoping to never have to go through that way again. (I kept suggesting the doors, doors in D&D and I have had a thing going back to before the turn of the century. When I start thinkin’ doors might be the lesser evil, that’s a tell.)) But here I was apparently the only one didn’t realize we left 9 behind, and I’m the one playing the PC who’s been treating him like this:
She’s got a lot of strays she’s picked up, including a mouse, two Otterpops, and a Meat Golem. (And a foxy trickster, but at least Ily feeds and cleans up after herself. 😜) But the only one she isn’t physically carrying got forgotten like Macaulay Culkin in a Christmas movie. 🤦♂️ Nobody said nuthin’ to me that Toots left ¼ of her menagerie behind?!?
OOC; Tommary does probably sleep in all his gear, thinking it's good for his abs (mind you, he's only got a strength of 10, but I think core strength is oft well reflected in CON, and Tommary is likely to work his for show more than practical when he walks that tightrope) and always ready to spring into action when a fusillade of flaming oil is prompted by whatever trips his scimitar of warning alarm clock. ANYWAY, I sorta thought 9 was sorta tactical impractical on this leg, and I probably imagined it but I thought we did have him sorta watching our six to be retrieved if 9 on precarious chutes and ladders hijinks were actually warranted. He's sorta a tank and since these are kayaks I don't know if he'd even fit (DM's discretion).
Anyway(2), are we assaulting the sea lions too, or going to play off their fellow mammalianism and maybe try to parlay? We can also let the kayaks run their course back to the kayak rack, retrieve Nine and downward this (probalby wise if there is something accessible beyond the sea lions or aquamanticores.

Speaking practically as a player, we pro’ly should have left 9 behind quite a while ago. Toots adopted him though, as she has a tendency to collect. She collects stray animals, random bits of stuff that might be useful, anecdotes, whatever. She’s kind of a pack rat in that. (it’s actually one of her Personality Traits,*s at least picking up lots of bits & bobs is, the rest kinda just grew organically when, in addition to her pocket mouse, the Otterpops became her responsibility and went into her backpack. They kinda fell into the “and trinkets” category with overtones of “orphans” that hit her right in the feels. 9 was just too big to fit in her pockets is all.
I thought the plan was to clear the terraces and then investigate. 🤷♂️ I apparently miss stuff though since I missed the disappearance of big-ass, decomposing meat-robot. You want Toots to stop playing her dirge, that’s no problemo.
Personality Traits
• I hide scraps of food and trinkets away in my pockets. • I ask a lot of questions. • I eat like a pig and have bad table manners.
Ideals
Change. The low are lifted up, and the high and mighty are brought down. Change is the nature of things. (Chaotic)
Bonds
• I sponsor an orphanage to keep others from enduring what I was forced to endure.
Flaws
• Gold seems like a lot of money to me, and I’ll do just about anything for more of it.
Do her obsessions over saving every last cp the party comes across, and gathering pouches full of string and buttons; her remarkably bad table manners; and the fact that she often oddly phrases things as questions when statements would do all make more sense now? I’m personally averse to change, so I’m probably missing the mark a bit on that one. But I do try to make sure I hit as many notes as I can with her.
She’s very different from my other main PCs, despite the fact that one’s also a Bard, and the other also has the Urchin background. The bard is College of Whispers and plays much darker, but with a vernier of cheer because people expect it of actors. The former Urchin is an Artificer, and so straight-laced and by-the-book he would likely even annoy anal retentive people if he wasn’t so quiet and reserved that people forget he’s there at all.
OOC: You've been pretty good about telling Number 9 to pick you up, or carry stuff, or follow along, so I gave it a mental shrug. He is pretty busted so I thought maybe you wanted to avoid getting him killed. Apologies.

The scorpions have been vanquished, the sand looks safe to jump on to. There is a barrier between the sand pen and the sea lions so the sea lions cannot get to you.
Or are you going to set up the Rudy Golenbyrg thing and get Number 9?

Are there any other ways out of this room other than heading back the way we came?
OOC: As Tommary said, you have not fully explored this room yet.
OOC: If there isn’t then we’ll have to go back anyway. If there is then Toots will settle for riding the lazy river back around again, going to the end of that room and messaging 9 a private and heartfelt “until next time” with some instructions to go wait with Layla and if we don’t see him again to stick with her, stay alive, enjoy some sparks, and have a happy existence.
