Can you use mending on a Warforged to heal the same way you can on the battle smith's steel defender?
To be clear, by default, Mending restores no HP to any object it is used on. It only repairs structural/cosmetic damage to an object.
An Artificer using Mending to restore HP to their Steel Defender is a specific exception to how that spell functions.

You don't know what fear is until you've witnessed a drunk bird divebombing you while carrying a screaming Kobold throwing fire anywhere and everywhere.
Cure Wounds, Healing Word, healing potions... literally *any* healing of any kind that would normally heal a player race. They're living things, albeit constructed of material rather than of flesh. Rising from the Last War literally tells you this in the text talking about Warforged when they are first introduced in the sourcebook.

You're saying a warforged vampire or werewolf is possible? That would be a cool villain or subplot. Spend two sessions investigating werewolf attacks only to find out it's the Warforged personal guardian to the city lord or magistrate.

No, Repair targets a construct or object. Warforged are humanoids.
That certainly makes sense. But by that logic, would any spell that targets a creature then not be able to target a construct? (This is not entirely serious question, mostly for the sake of debate for the hell of it).

Creature is an all encompassing term that Constructs, Humanoids, Fey, Elementals, Aberrations, etc fall under. Warforged are specifically Humanoids, in 5E, and not Constructs.
I know this is an older thread, but now that the autognome is available, you could apply their Healing Machine feature to warforged if you like. That would allow the mending cantrip to work as a limited healing resource.
The point is, the rules are flexible, and it's not a big leap for a DM to allow it.
We don't because Mending is an unlimited resource. This is why there are no healing cantrips. Dealing with parties wanting to short/long rest after every battle is bad enough, I don't also want to deal with a warforged wanting to take 3 hours so they can cast mending 18 times to get themselves back up to full hp.

Or undead. (In 5e, at least, but even in earlier editions when they were constructs Woeforged were a thing.)
Warforge can become lycan and undead because they count as a humanoid, in previus versions they coulds because they weren't

Really, it's up to the DM. A DM COULD say that mending will heal a warforged 1d4 or something...enough to stabilize. Or maybe it just stabilizes.
The point is, the rules are flexible, and it's not a big leap for a DM to allow it. I've seen it one streams, though I have not had it come up yet.
