I'm playing a bard in ToA and my DM allows me to have a rhythm-maker drum, but not as a drum: it must be skinned as a Chultan instrument. So I used my (awful) Google fu and couldn't find anything on the internet. I even spoiled myself about a specific item I want, available in the campaign.
So what are instruments that Chultans use to entertain their fellows? It can be for any race living in Chult, such as humans, albino dwarves, aarakocras, etc. as long as it's referenced in Chult-related lore
Thank you, but you're answering the wrong question.
The request of my DM is indeed to not have a bland Sword Coast drum but a Chult-specific item, and he does allow me to skin it anyway I want as long as it's Chult-themed.
So I'm asking what instruments do Chultans play? So I can choose whichever suits me best.
Hey, what i understand is you wanna know what instruments Chultans play. I would assume drums, flutes and other woodwind/percussion instruments make sense (looking at cultures such as latin american and central african for inspiration).
If youre looking for a Chult specific instrument, i dont think they have any? I might be wrong, but I dont remember seeing it stated anywhere that they have their own instrument or special Chultan oboe or anything.

Drums are one of the universal instruments, every culture in the world has some form of drum. Precision instruments are the easiest and simplest to create and use. I can all but guarantee you that Chultans have drums. If one accepts this as “Chultan” music, the first instruments you can head are percussion instruments, in list least one drum:
To me, Chult always has the ring of cultures along the lines of the Aztec so as no official listing of Chultan instruments seems to be available I'd dive into some real world cultures for some in game inspiration.
The link above goes to a brief overview of mesoamerican instruments but the TLDR of it is they used wind instruments made of clay and various forms of drums. There is a mention in that article to use of a Turtle Shell so dare I suggest a Tortle shell drum used like a carribean steel drum could be suitably Chultan?
The Chults are big into the Bongos, the Banjos and the Berinbaus... Prove me wrong.
Point is, there is no real Chult so you can decide what they play if your DM isn't. It may make most sense to do as above is saying and take inspiration from the Meso-Americans but Chult is in a fantasy realm so pick whatever works for you or, hell, make something up.

Why wouldn't Chultans have drums? Is your DM not allowing it unless it's Chult themed, or did they ask you this for flavor reasons?
If I were you I'd just call it a Chultan Drum. If you wanna get fun with it maybe call it a dinosaur-hide drum.
I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
