The question I have is... why delay the announcement of a book that will be coming out later? It's not like they're delaying a release because of a print error or something. Any ideas why they might delay it? I'm just curious if people have heard of this happening before, not really annoyed with the situation at all.
I would like some more paladins that don't have to be good. Sure, we have Oathbreaker and Conquest, but what about a Oath of the Night, or some dark, not necessarily evil or good, more neutral themed paladins. Same for druids.
Had an idea for a homebrew Paladin subclass called the Oath of Binding...paladins who are the perfect definition of a mercenary. They "bind" themselves to a contract or task, and see the job through with a supernatural resilience and focus. "Their word is their bond", essentially.
Because of this, they are both heavily sought after...and very much feared. Someone who hires a Binding Paladin can expect the job to be completed in due time...and the subject of the Paladin's wrath can expect to be hunted relentlessly unless the paladin is killed.
The vision was a paladin who was basically The Terminator...the channel divinity of these paladins included boosting their AC score by an amount equal to their Charisma modifier, and allowing their ranged attacks to benefit from standard smites. Their spells included ways to incapacitate a target... "Hold Person" and "Entangle", for example...and spells that demoralize and track their quarry, such as "Mind Spike". Later features would allow for additional resilience, giving the paladin temporary HP should they sustain damage that reduces them below half their HP level, as well as the ability to attack as a bonus action.
Lore-wise, they were bounty hunters, mercenaries, and siege-breakers...and their contracts made it impossible to turn them or otherwise betray their clients. This made them both alignment-flexible...celestial beings put faith in them for their conviction and stalwart nature in the pursuit of benevolent crusades...while devils were rather intimidated by them...the appeal of a paladin who doesn't break their Pact meant an easy soul to claim...but if the paladins own binding contradicted the devil's pact, it placed devil in uncomfortable position to be exploited. Perhaps amusingly, this resulted in such paladins having an almost respected reputation in the Nine Hells.

Celestial warlocks are more focused on being clericy.
I agree Fiend warlocks are focused on fire spells, but with less spell slots, they don't get to use them that often, and warlocks tend to focus on hex and eldritch blast.
I want a sorcerer pyromancer, born to use fire.

Heh, I made a gunslinging paladin subclass a while back (I do need to go back and revise it, it's not the most clever design...) that was basically meant to be a ranged combat specialist with a little emphasis on stealth and protecting others. Lorewise, it was meant to be a highwayman-esque figure that had no problems with breaking the law if it got in the way of doing what they thought was righteous.

Yes, and fire is part of "any element", they do that in order to not make a pyromancer, and then a cryomancer, and a geomancer, and so on.
In my Dragon Heist/Dungeon of the Mad Mage campaign that I'm running our paladin killed a drow gunslinger and stole his gun, bullets, and smokepowder. He only has a +1 for Dexterity, and had to gain proficiency with it over time, but he eventually became really good with it and it is his secondary weapon after his greatsword. He's an Oath of Conquest paladin, and guns are cooler and scarier than bows.
Paladins look cool with guns, and I'd love a subclass of paladins that are more focused on DEX, maybe that freedom based paladin discussed above.

Yes, I'd prefer one that is more themed around fire. I would like the Phoenix sorcerer to be revised, or some similar sorcerer published.

It does occur to me that with many of the crazy subclasses we saw in the latest UAs that there is a possibility we *might* see some old stuff like Phoenix Sorc make a return. That's entirely speculation on my part though.

They made a sorcerer all about elemental air, so asking for a pyromancer would only be fair, to be honest. Personally I would like stuff that uses more earthy/metal abilities, though. A sorcerer or druid that harnesses the power of elemental earth would be awesome.

It's ok Ranger, you'll always be cool to me.. Unless druid gets another use for its wild shape charges.
I could easily see a '***Mancer' Sorcerer subclass in much the same vein as the Circle of the Land Druid. The general abilities are the same for each Flavor (Fire, Earth, Wind, Water) and the real difference being an enhanced spell list, if we are lucky playing to the same model as the Aberrant Mind Sorcerer from the UA since the idea of efficiently casting your class specific spells using Sorcerer Points just feels so right to me. "Sure you can cast anything, but these things that line up with your bloodline are just 'Easier'."
EDIT:
There is a pyromancer in the Plane Shift Kaladash released material.
Sorcerous Origin: Pyromancer
Your innate magic manifests in fire. You are your fire, and your fire is you.
Heart of Fire At 1st level, whenever you start casting a spell of 1st level or higher that deals fire damage, fiery magic erupts from you. This eruption causes creatures of your choice that you can see within 10 feet of you to take fire damage equal to half your sorcerer level (minimum of 1).
Fire in the Veins At 6th level, you gain resistance to fire damage. In addition, spells you cast ignore resistance to fire damage.
Pyromancer’s Fury Starting at 14th level, when you are hit by a melee attack, you can use your reaction to deal fire damage to the attacker. The damage equals your sorcerer level, and ignores resistance to fire damage.
Fiery Soul At 18th level, you gain immunity to fire damage. In addition, any spell or effect you create ignores resistance to fire damage and treats immunity to fire damage as resistance to fire damage.
There's a storm sorcerer, why not pyro sorcerer, Terra sorcerer, sea sorcerer, maybe even some inbetween sorcerer subclasses? Magma sorcerer, mud sorcerer, so on.

The book announcement in question has been pushed back to next Monday, as per a tweet from the official D&D twitter account. :(
Partway through the quest for absolute truth.
They announced that they are going to announce the book on the 13th and no longer on 9th.
NOOO!
Why do you do this to us Wizards?

My guess is either Art or Legal.

Maybe to hype it up more? Similar to Endgame's hype going up because of how long they waited to announce the name and details.

They need more paladin subclasses, same with Monks, sorcerers and warlocks.

Evocation Wizard? Red/gold draconic sorcerer? Fiend or Celestial Warlocks?
Evocation can be any element.

There was a phoenix sorcerer in UA once, but it never became official for some reason. You can check it out here: https://media.wizards.com/2017/dnd/downloads/26_UASorcererUA020617s.pdf
