I would like some more paladins that don't have to be good. Sure, we have Oathbreaker and Conquest, but what about a Oath of the Night, or some dark, not necessarily evil or good, more neutral themed paladins. Same for druids.
Yeah it's hard to make paladins anything but lawful good. You have oath of evil God, oath of plants > people, oath of dictatorship, and oath of personal vendettas. It's going to take more than 5 seconds to twist those into being any alignment besides good.
Same for druids. Circle of nature > cities, circle of fungus zombies, circle of forever sleep, and 2 different circles of animals > humans. Not as hard as paladin, but definitely hard to make non-good characters without even trying. And don't even get me started on the UA circle of arson.
Don't take any of the sarcasm personally, I was doing a bit. I couldn't think of a non-good twist for oath of redemption and heroism though: oath of apologizing for being a jerk and oath of helpfulness and optimism. They are painfully good alignments, even if they were to be bad at being good.
I agree. Already have an idea for a Circle of Midnight druid that can go ethereal, summon a specter-like being to protect them, and gets "spooky" themed spells added to their spell lists, examples would be moonbeam, dissonant whispers, so on. A plant based druid, like a Circle of the Root, that can summon an earthy-plant creature out of the ground to fight for them using a wild shape would be a nice ability, too. Druids, the one class that is deeply connected with nature, doesn't have any mechanics that let them connect to plants, other than a handful of spells like tree stride.
I'd like a paladin that is based on Chaos, which seems counter-intuitive for the class that swears themselves to an oath, but I'd imagine it to be like swearing yourself to a god of chaos that you promise to spread their doctrine of chaos across the land, something like that. Not just evil chaos, but freedom, like an elven or fey god, that a paladin follows. Oath of Conquest is based on law, Oathbreaker is evil, Oath of Devotion is normally good, and Oath of Vengeance can be almost any alignment. I'd like some strangely flavored subclasses, that make you think about it before choosing it.
I'd also like a Dragon patron for Warlocks.
Yeah, more druids that can use wildshape for something cool would be great.
I would really like a version of oathbreaker that is not anti-paladin. Simply a paladin who could not or would not keep their oath, not one that went full dark side and killed all the younglings after 1 tantrum.
I have also been wanting an ancient Dragon patron for years.

I actually really like that idea. If not a force of havoc, maybe even one of liberation or freedom. After all, chaos and freedom are pretty much just negative and positive lenses on the same concept; "Everyone do what you want". Maybe it could get spells like Freedom of Movement, Fly, and Counterspell to sort of hammer in that "You will not hinder my path" flavor?
And Thunder Step seems very “You will not hinder my path!” as well.

Possibly Haste, or Expeditious Retreat. Some spells that aren't smiting, more of "I will free all from bonds, and you can't capture me".
A Channel Divinity ability for this subclass would probably release all nearby creatures from being grappled or restrained, causing damage to the grapplers/restrainers.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
If you only have 1 encounter a day, why would you need more than 4 spell slots (the average encounter is only 3-4 rounds).
Though I do think Warlocks could at least benefit from getting their 3rd and 4th slot at lower levels (maybe 7 and 15) and get an additional 6th and 7th level mystic arcanum at level 19 and 20.
I think eldritch invocation progression should be changed to 1 every odd level, capping at 10 at level 17 (instead of 8 at 18). There should be more invocations that don't require you to use one of your limited spell slots, and the ones that do shouldn't be once per day (it is less useful than using an invocation to put a spell on your spell list).
Eldritch master could maybe be buffed by swapping "spending 1 minute" for "when you roll initiative" and moved to level 18 (to make it level appropriate), then give a better capstone like maybe be able to burn an arcanum to refill slots.
This are some changes i can get behind.

"Normality is but an Illusion, Whats normal to the Spider, is only madness for the Fly"
Revisited Warlock, so that they end up with more then 4 flimsy spellslots...
Assuming the recommended 2 short rests per day you should have 12 5th-level slots + the 4 mystic arcnums + the stuff you get from invocation + 4 slots from the capstoneat level 20.
Arcanums are once per long rest.
Spells from invocations use a Slot and can be used only ONCE per LONG REST, double blue balling...
Capstone 20 is Meh beyond believe, so nearly no one ever bothers with it and rather MC a lvl or two into something else that is more usefull/immidiate.
And off course thenever tiring fact that not all DM's or groups wants/likes/think about short resting at least once or twice...
Heck i've been called deadweight cause i requested a short rest once in a dungeon crawl cause i had to use my 2 spellslots to help those idiots, and the Artificer was all pissy cause taking a short rest now would waste his Arcane weapon buff and his spellslot( even though he had a Pearl of Power...)
Not all parties are nice or comprehensive..., as a Warlock you litteraly depends on the others "generosity" to be able to do what you're supposed to do...

1) yes, i am going spells per long rest.
2) talking about at will ones
3) is practically a 33% increase in spell slots (25% if you count arcanum)
4) Yes but that falls in the same category of people complaining encounters aren't balanced when not running the recommended 6-8 encounter for a an adventuring day

Only after spending a full minute being useless. It is barely better than having to take a short rest. And getting 1 free semi-short rest is not a great capstone. It would be 400% better if we could spend a mystic arcanum as a bonus action to get slots back.
There is a level 3 spell (catnap) that lets the whole party benefit from a short rest in less time, and nobody uses it because you can just take a short rest (and it is available at 1/50th the exp progression).
Yes! I would love to be able to spend an arcanum on getting my spell slots back. Maybe a little unbalanced to use the 6th level one, but 7-9 would be balanced the get 3-4 5th levels back I think.

an elemental Druid. one that lets you attune tot he elemental planes for passive buffs (expending wildshape to switch attunements)
And Thunder Step seems very “You will not hinder my path!” as well.

This freedom/chaos based oath would likely be called something like Oath of Liberty, always protecting the underdog, fighting against all oppression.

Maybe the new UA will include kittens. Pro’ly not though.

I still doubt they’re gonna fix any of that in the next UA.

It’s meant so that the Warlock can ask for a pee break instead of a lunch break.
Mystic Arcanum = pee break
Ritual Casting = smoke break
Short Rest = lunch break
Catnap = a double shot of espresso

Also known as CrafterB and DankMemer.
Here, have some homebrew classes! Subclasses to? Why not races. Feats, feats as well. I have a lot of magic items. Lastly I got monsters, fun, fun times.
It has been quite a while since the last UA. It feels like the next one should be here soon. Who thinks what might be in the wind?
