Yeah, except the only new system they tried out was an extremely complicated and long one. They can make a fairly simple and short new system for psionics. It doesn't have to be super long and complicated. Again, it's a circular argument to say "It hasn't happened the way you want it, so it can't happen, because this thing happened".
And the point that i have been trying to make this entire time is that new system is inherently more complicated. Especially on the other side of the DM screen
Hold up. Someone approaches you in the supermarket with a sample of food. You inquire if it has X ingredient because it disagrees with you for some reason, maybe peanut allergy or lactose intolerance or vegan reasons or blood sugar or whatever. They tell you it has ingredient X in it. And you politely tell them “Okay. No thank you.”
Literally no one says it like that unless it is sarcastic and they are trying to be rude, but go off i guess lmao
You know, I bend over friggin backwards to be polite in these forums and people take offense to it. I say it like I actually speak. And apparently people take offense to it. I can’t win for loosing. You want to perceive me as rude I can’t stop you. But has it maybe occurred to you that I wasn’t? I give up. I genuinely respect your opinions. I actually enjoy our debates. Here I was thinking you were doing some friendly ball breaking but in reality I apparently pissed you off. My bad.
Atrome, that is exactly what you said; do not act surprised that people interpret things a certain way when you say them a certain way. You are also mischaracterizing the argument many of us have made, which is that we disagree with the idea that spellcasting is an adequate way to represent psionics, and why we feel that this is the case. Further, we have discussed throughout this thread, as well as other relevant threads, different ways in which how such a system might work, and saying that this is impossible is clearly false, otherwise we wouldn't have any class differentiation in 5e whatsoever.
Lastly, perhaps you are unaware, but the tone you are using in describing proponents of a different system for psionics is condescending and, quite frankly, a little insulting. If you want to continue having this conversation and advocate your position, then by all means you are free to do so. However, I highly recommend that when you do so, you do so from a position of respect rather than treating us like children incapable of holding mature and reasoned arguments.
Boi i have no idea to which phrase you are refering to because you neglected to quote anything. Also you clearly didnt read everything i have typed in this recent conversation because i have tried to make i t clear that I partially agree with what you want but thing a lot of it is unreasonable.
Hey this is the intent, you are completely free to feel however you want and take what i say which ever way you want, but the last thing you get to do is tell me how to act :)

How? They made a new system for the Artificer's magic item making, with it being fairly simple compared to an alternative.
New System =/= Complicated System
There's no proof of this. Mystics were badly designed and overly complicated. This doesn't prove that they cannot make one.

I do share views that differ from what you have on this topic, yes. But for the most part i had absolutely no desire to input anything until that rude “Yeah. No thanks” 2nd grade pouty child response when kvnluck simply tried to share something that they made and were proud of.
Because believe it or not, these forums are actual for sharing ideas and things that you have created with other members of the community, not to tell other people their ideas are bad because it isn't your idea.
No, that's not what I'm trying to do. Just trying to explain my point of view as to why Psionics can't be based around spellcasting or spells.
This wasnt directed at you actually lol
I know, and it's not what Sposta was doing. Stop assuming what people are trying to say.

Okay, lets not give the artificer too much credit here. It didnt take a genius to come up with Eldritch-Invocations-but-restricted-to-items and it is hardly a groundbreaking or even that elegant of a system. They did my boy Artificer dirty and i truly have no faith in them for player systems anymore

It's not unreasonable to want something and vote against something because it's not the thing they wanted. I will vote against a UA that is meant to fulfill psionics in 5e if it doesn't meet my requirements. This isn't selfish, this just doesn't meet what I think psionics should be. If WotC was to release a UA race for the Tarrasque that gave you 5 attacks at level one, I'd vote against it, because it doesn't fit in with the other races. This is an opinion as well, and it's not unreasonable to have such an opinion.
Hey this is the intent, you are completely free to feel however you want and take what i say which ever way you want, but the last thing you get to do is tell me how to act :)

Doesn't take a genius, but it does take several redos to the class and time. That's my point. They developed a new system for the artificer. They developed the Psi Dice for the new UA subclasses. They can make a new system, and a new system does not mean that it is inherently complicated. 5e was a new system, but is much less complicated that previous editions.

On that note, a much more productive place to post homebrew and get really good feedback is on reddit (surprisingly). I recommend r/DMAcademy. It is a very friendly and helpful subreddit for stuff like this
this is me getting reactionary to him insulting someone (perceived) but never once telling him "be nice"

I know this now, and yes, I was assuming what Sposta was trying to say, because I know how Sposta speaks on these threads. You assumed generally about the meaning of his post based on other people, and I assumed based on him. I knew what he meant, and you didn't, because you couldn't imagine a circumstance where someone was actually polite and said "no thank you" when declining something.

However, I highly recommend that when you do so, you do so from a position of respect rather than treating us like children incapable of holding mature and reasoned arguments.

I get that. There’s a smug ass on these forums I regularly stand up to for being a smug ass at people telling them what they “shouldn’t do” in their D&D. Not “IMO” or a “I recommend against” but straight up tells people that their D&D is wrong like their God’s gift to D&D.
You want to know who I am? Pay attention to my posts. It’s never “my game,” it’s always “the game I DM.” I always make sure to respect gender neutrality unles I already know a person’s gender.” I can cal Levi “he” because he is. Almost everyone else is always “they.” I have 1,500 “thanks” because the vast majority of my posts are helping people troubleshoot in Bugs & Support or Homebrews & House Rules when the Mods aren’t around. Go check. That’s the kind of man I am. So when I say “no thank you” I mean it.
When I want to be sarcastic, I drippp with it like a sodden bath towel.

Infusions are a new system, because they're a system that didn't exist before.
Just because the only Invocations that attach to items are specifically Pact Boon items doesnt mean the concept wasnt already there
They're not identical to infusions, the only thing they have in common is that you get multiple of them, they scale as you level, and that you can switch them. Everything else is new. The magic items being a part of the system, the amount it scales, the infusions known vs infusions you have, some infusions scaling as you level, and so on.
They're different. The concept technically was there, but barely.

Thats cause you all checked out of having an actual conversation on this topic like, 3 weeks ago. If you arent actually gonna try and at least humor an intelligent conversation OF COURSE im gonna start trolling, cause at the end of the day i really dont care and you care too much. Like i said before, i only started chiming in after i saw (perceived [i feel the need to do this with you now congratulations]) unnecessary rudeness. I tried having actual conversations on this thread when it was newer but became increasingly frustrating and i didnt care enough so i stepped away and would just check in every once in a while to see how the conversation was going
We checked out of the conversation because people eventually stopped posting and it went off topic. Threads die, it's natural selection.
I have humored an intelligent conversation and am willing to again, but you came this thread with verbal guns-a-blazing, and got mad at us for telling you not to be rude. Don't be mad at us because you perceived something wrong. I'm all for starting up the conversation again as long as it's a real conversation.
