I just bought Eberron: Rising and the first thing I noticed in the app was the file size was 3.2mb, much smaller than any other book I’ve purchased on D&D Beyond. When I started reading it in the app I noticed there is no background image on each of the pages that makes them look like an old book. All of the books I have have the same tan colored background. This book is just white. I figured that’s kind of lame. It’s not like these books are that big in file size anyway. So then I started looking at the images to see if they dropped the quality on those. That’s when I noticed the maps are unreadable. If you zoom in to read the already small text, it’s just blur. I then looked at my other source books, mainly TOA since it has that world map that has small text and that was acceptably compressed and legible. I also checked the web based Eberron book on my computer and that had a very high resolution image of the map.
My questions are:
Is there a high resolution version of this book available for download in the app?
Is this the new standard for buying books from D&D Beyond? Anyone with the Exandria book, I’d appreciate if you could tell me the file size and image quality of the book in the App. I was planning on buying it, but not if this is the new norm.
If I go in to the Eberron book from the site, I can zoom into the Khorvaire map IF I open the pic in a separate tab - it's 2.35MB. I'm not sure what the download options are, but the images are available even if you might have to jump through some hoops to get them separately. Edit - ah, missed the part where you already knew this.
As for Exandria, for the big map it's got a button to DL a high res map from the site, which is 7.2MB on its own.
Can anyone confirm that the download size of the Ebberon: Rising for the app is only 3.2mb and the image quality on maps is illegible? This is a big downgrade in quality and I am trying to find out if this is just my digital book or the new compression that all books are going to be delivered. The web version is fine. It’s the offline app version that I’m asking about. Thanks
