Just a fun idea I had with my friend, when we were mucking about doing some online 'What are your ability scores in real life?', 'What would your IRL D&D class be?', you know that kind of stuff. But I was curious what people THINK they SHOULD be, not what a quiz says they are. Some ground rules:
- 6 levels (because OneD&D has subclasses at 3rd level)
- Must include: Race, Class, Subclass (if necessary), Background and Justification. Anything else you want to include is just a bonus.
- Can only use official published content.
For example, I think I would be:
Race: Rock Gnome [Reason: I like to tinker with tech and stuff I can put back together]
Class: Aberrant Sorcerer - Order of Scribes Wizard [I am a very intelligent person, and frequently write for competitions and work with books as a volunteer in my library]
Background: Sage [Pretty much the reasons I've already given]
Never gave it a lot of thought, but a few friends kept telling me i would be a Cleric because I study religions, try and take care of everyone, and they knew that i had a chainmail shirt from the Ren fair.
Another more recently said i would be a gunslinger fighter because i know a little chemistry, admited to making gun powder as a kid ( it was ineffective, the ratios were off ) and have basic competency with firearms. ( I won't call myself proficent, i am just competent. )
He/Him. Loooooooooong time Player. The Dark days of the THAC0 system are behind us.

I have little strength. So, I'd have a low Strength score. Maybe 6.
I am slow, clumsy and get frequent dizzy spells. So, I'd have a low Dexterity score. Probs a 6 too.
I have low pain tolerance, get sick often and have a brain condition. My Constitution score would be utterly abysmal. Maybe 4.
I am only slightly above average intelligence. 12 at best.
I have poor instincts, poor perception, and so would have a low Wisdom score. 8 at most.
I have problems communicating with people verbally, get serious anxiety, very socially awkward, sometimes get a stutter where I can barely speak at all, and recently when I turned 40 not a single member of my family remembered I existed so nobody wished me happy birthday (even though I remember theirs). I have the charisma of a dead fish. This would be a 4.
6th level? I'd barely make it to 1st. Real life has nearly killed me multiple times. Not a chance in Hell I'd survive as an adventurer.
There's a reason I play Roleplaying games. I don't want to be me.

Human, commoner, with maybe a couple extra points in Charisma to account for my being a DM and wrangling the players to the story.
My partner, on the other hand, would be an Aasimar Bard of the college of Glamour - every time she plays a character or GMs a game, everybody is captivated by her storytelling and her methods.

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
Tabaxi because I really like cats and am very curious.
Class is hard, but I'm going to have to say Druid because I like nature and could just make friends with animals and live in the environment. (Also they're my favorite class, so I'm a little biased.)
Hermit because I like to think and spend time by myself.
The average human has an intelligence of 10 (we'll assume it scales with the times). Average IQ is 100; ergo, 10 Intelligence is about 100 IQ. So when you give yourself 13 Int, you're basically giving yourself 130 IQ. Not quite sure if this is accurate, considering that's near genius level...
Anyways, not sure other methods of measurement. Since we have four Hitpoints, you could only have a minimum of around 4 Constitution, and that basically makes you weak as a leaf. I don't know anyone who could reliably take a bullet or a sword to the chest and still live, so I imagine maximum constitution would be around 12-14.
Strength... impossible to say. I'd say upper limit is around 12-14, lower limit around 6. Same with Dexterity.
Charisma and Wisdom are impossible to say. Probably similar constraints as the others. So, taking all this into account, I've got:
10 Strength: I carry a 15 pound Bassoon case every day, so I'm not exactly weak, but I'm not super strong either.
11 Dexterity: I'm quick, ngl. I do Cross Country.
10 Constitution: I'm in pretty good health.
11 Intelligence: I'm no dummy, but I'm not super smart either.
11 Wisdom: I'm rather observant.
9 Charisma: I am extremely socially awkward.
I doubt I'm even at level 1, let alone level 6... Variant Human for my race, Mobile for the Feat.
Maybe 4.

Probably being a bit hard on yourself there. But yeah 6th level in a commoner is what I'd assume 99% of us would be.
The gruff but lovable middle-aged human valor bard who doesn't actually perform any more. He just sits in the tavern relaying rumors and legends to young adventurers to give them ideas of what monsters to go fight.
Str 12. Dex 8. Con 12. I 15. W 14. Ch 14. Skills: athletics +4, deception +5, history +8, insight +5, intimidation +5, investigation +8, performance +5.
Background: City Watch. Feats: Tough, Healer, Durable.
STR: How far you can jump with a 10ft run up (standard rules for long jumps). E.g. 12 ft = 12 STR.
CON: How many seconds you can hold your breath. 30 secs is minimum, +1 to CON every 30 after that.
DEX: More difficult but I use a click per second chart for 15 secs, take the average from your score and add the result to 10.
INT: IQ score every 5 above 100 is a point. E.g. I've got around 140 (not sure how accurate) so I'd end up with an 18.
CHA: Two ways, 1 - Ask a close friend, what they think you'd have, if you don't have a close friend take a 5. 2 - add 1 to 8 for every: Musical Instrument you can play, Decent role in a production, Performing arts qualification (excluding music below like grade 5), +1 for every decent length campaign you've DM'd for. Minus 1 for every: Production you've messed up, friend you've lost because of your actions, that kind of thing.
WIS: Book or web page of common sense riddles, however may you get right in 5 mins is your WIS score.
Either a wizard or a sorcerer, multi classed as a bard. I am a retired software professional (highly proficient in creating (conjuring?) software (summoned entities from Elsewhere) from the unformed entropy of the universe), along with a love for song parodies.
If you can recall Glenn Frey's 'You Belong To The City's, in my case, 'I belong to the system, silicon forms my veins, my thoughts are data streams, my mind is a DBMS' 'I can feel the data move, I can feel the printers print' 'I am The System!'
Background: Sage [Pretty much the reasons I've already given]
I would be a shifter (because I’m a top dawg - at work anyway) I would have a 20 in wisdom and charisma) 13 in strength and intelligence. And low dexterity and constitution (because my balance sucks and when I get sick I bottom out for awhile). I would be a Bard - because I’m a Jack of all trades and master of none.
Which either takes the fun out of the question, or makes it more objective.
Don't know how accurate that is, but I got this:
Neutral Good Human Paladin Ability Scores: Strength- 15 Dexterity- 14 Constitution- 12 Intelligence- 18 Wisdom- 13 Charisma- 12
Interesting that I got paladin instead of wizard despite a high intelligence. Also, somehow warlock was fourth most likely even though I had no evil points.
Which either takes the fun out of the question, or makes it more objective.
Decided to give this a try. I don't normally pay much mind to these because the questions/scenarios just never have any match for my reality or even any reality in some cases. Like the questions about love are like are you loyal to a true love, want true love or just wanna sleep around -- no answer is useful, I'm aromantic so how do I answer? Or it constantly asks "which religion do you prefer" and there's no option for "none".
Wizard makes sense. Scores too high and no chance in hell I'd make it beyond 1st level.

I'd go for cleric probably. A sympathetic organization in the world in most settings, a powerful outsider in my corner, and plenty of magic - including magic that lets me do things like take care of my injuries, protect myself, and obtain potable water and food.

We have tried this in several different games.
Try letting your fellow players give you your initial ability scores.
You can even go as far as only using equipment you have access to in real life to start the game. Depending on the game.

Not bad. Don't necessarily agree with everything, but it's not so far off from what I would've put anyways. Paladins are so much cooler than clerics.
"Uh, I have Illusory Script. I think I can read that."
Chaotic Good Human Wizard (6th Level)
Ability Scores:

Wisdom- 17
Charisma- 19
Looking at those scores... Yes. Yes, I agree. :p
Interestingly, my favorite class (Bard) was my lowest score.
