I created a dunamancy bard, College of Potential and I can't upload the new version. I changed some abilities and expended the spell list with the dunamancy spells from the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount. This is the issue:
This homebrew Subclass has data mapped to it that is licensed content or private homebrew. This typically occurs when licensed or private homebrew spells are linked to the Subclass.
How am I supposed to expand the spell list, when I can't share the subclass when I do?
In short, the dunamancy spells is licensed content. You can use it in your own private collection or for sharing within a campaign, but you cannot publicly share it
You don’t need to publish it to use it. You just need it in “your collection.” So, in short, don’t share/publish it. Just make sure you remove the old one from your collection and add the new private version and that’s the one you’ll be able to use.
Hopefully y'all can answer a question your reminded me of. If create and publish a homebrew whatever, and then decide to bugfix, or update, I can't seem to delete the old version. I can remove it from my collection as you suggested before, but does that remove it from DDB, or is it still published even though I have removed it, and since it has been updated? I just don't want three or four versions of my item floating around when I've fixed some things. I can see where if someone had added to their collection, it might not auto-update or let me delete, as that person might not be intested in my update, at least not without some notification.
Question I came here to ask in the first place (more honestly, question I was looking to find the right forum, but forum where people sound like they know what they are talking about seems right LOL). One thing I like to do is homebew the items from adventures I've been in (most recent, the Figurine of Wondrous Power: Snowy Owl from the DDEP10-00 in September. On the one hand, it is really a reflvor of the Silver Raven figurine, but even if it was an original figurine, it would deny anyway, because 95% of the text is identical between Figurines.
The Snowy Owl reflavored Silver Raven was denied for being too much like the Bronze Griffin.
Once homebrew is published, it then belongs to the community and you are unable to remove it, because others may be using it.
Please playtest and fully check your homebrew before hitting that publish button.
With regards your question about homebrewing magic items that are very similar to official magic items - just don't publish them! You can homebrew them and use them yourself with no problems and they are automatically shared with anyone in a campaign that you are a member of.
The rules will continue to be that we do not allow content that is basically the same as official content to be published for free via our homebrew system.
OK, that is what I assumed was the reason, though it would be nice to be able to update or modify as new ideas occur or bug reports come in.
It doesn't really sound as if you considered what I was asking before formulating your answer. The problem is that when I play an AL module and create an item for the folks in the party to use, because I enjoy doing it, and they enjoy having the custom item, we are not in a 'campaign' together on D&DBeyond so they only way they can access it is after it is published.
Another situation: if I am creating an item for the author of a module. In the instances such as this, https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/2785982-lord-uekiris-samurai-battle-armor there is nothing to worry about, but that is one of four items I was doing for him. Kusajiri, Lord Uekiri's Katana.txt, an Omamori, and a Hamatoan Bracelet of Prayer Beads, same idea as a Western rosary or prayer necklace, and mechanically similar to the Necklace of Prayer Beads, but in Asian cultures, they are normally worn around the wrist, not the neck, and the specific item has a custom description and art.
Also, I don't know if D&DBeyond is aware, in trading magic items in AL, the 'flavor' of the time from the specific adventure is often as important to prospective traders as the mechanics of the item, so again, items that are functionally similar, but have different descriptions are very important to your customers.
If you could pass these thoughts up the food chain for me, or let me know where I can do so, I would appreciate it.

I don't want to share it, I just want to include them in an expanded spell list, like oath spell or domain spells.
“Sharing” = “Publishing”
You don’t need to publish it to use it. You just need it in “your collection.” So, in short, don’t share/publish it. Just make sure you remove the old one from your collection and add the new private version and that’s the one you’ll be able to use.

Is there an appeals process for those denials?
Thanks y'all!
