Rings of Power is a load of hogwash and trash. Change my mind.
I completely disagree. It definitely has its faults (I'm not a fan of the harfoot/stranger storyline) but you're throwing the baby out with the bath water. There are some really great parts of the story that I really love.
But that's all I'll say. I doubt you'd be willing to change your mind and all the other Tolkienites here hate the show as well and have outlawed the discussion of it.

To be fair, I think there really only is one person on the thread who has “outlawed the discussion” of the topic. But that person is the creator of the thread. They’ve been upset about the show since the first cast photos were revealed and issued a unilateral moratorium on the topic to protect their sensibilities. Which, of course, is their right - this is their thread and they have the right to ask others not to post on a topic that makes them upset.
I just don’t want anyone to think that Tolkien fans on a whole would prohibit the topic - or even think that most of the folks on this thread would.

I wouldn’t want anyone to think Tolkien fans on a whole are rejecting conversations on this topic. I think most fans of the esteemed author would be willing to engage in polite discussion, without getting irrationally angry that others disagree - that is, after all, what Tolkien would have wanted.
That is true and I know that not all Tolkien fans are like that. I just wanted to respect the maker of this thread's wishes.
I would just like to clarify something: I did NOT ban RoP discussion because I personally hate it, I banned it because the entire thread got bogged down by everyone arguing about it.
In fact, I’ll unban it. I’ve actually had something of a catharsis with RoP this time around. I’ve accepted that it bears about as much resemblance to the actual Tolkien lore as Star Wars does and instead of getting angry, I’ve actually had a splendid time this season laughing at the terrible acting, amateur directing, brain dead writing, shit CGI, abysmal fight choreography and general trainwreck of the whole show lol. RoP is actually prime comedy if you stop taking it seriously and just laugh at how bad it is.
Hehehe I get that completely. I watched the entire first season, just because why not, but haven't bothered to watch more that half of the first episode in the second season. I personally am on team RoP sucks, though I know a lot of people who aren't. Anyway, I agree with everything you just said. 🤣 I will say though, in the first season at least, the landscapes were pretty good.
LotR is for sure. I read the books completely through at least twice every year. And I've seen the movies countless times. But RoP is completely different. I'd watch it if it was written by Tolkien, and directed by Jackson, but it's not.
I'm hopefully going to be doing a LotR LARP game this Saturday. I'm going to be on the Haradrim team because I like using scimitars. Unfortunately I probably won't have a mumakil to ride.
From what I've heard, the Orc team is really hardcore. They researched how the Orc costumes were made in the Jackson movies and recreated them.
