Lol! Well, I have multiple DMs and the whole playgroup are all just friends. I dislike being favoured by anyone as I know how much resentment that can bring.
I dont know what year mine was but it was 5e and it was a gnome druid who got killed in the first session after trying to kill a suspicous dwarf. The entire party ganged up on me and then i was shot twice by wererats.
@Sposta, your DM was a genius, especially for a kid. I’ve had some very experienced players who don’t get the idea that their character can die anytime, and I bet if everyone had learned from him, we wouldn’t have that problem!
my first character was an elvish fighter who had the dueling fighting style but always used a bow. he often would often sneak around, preferring steal the straight battle.

My first character was a pretty stereotypical wood elf ranger. I'm glad that most of my characters now are unique with distinct personalities.

I remember my first character. His name was Dadd snow and I got to try him out for a couple sessions before the club ended. He was originally supposed to be a Human Cleric but everyone told me to just choose Half-Elf since that was a better choice, and my most favorite thing was when he told the party
" Oh wait, forgot to buy torches. "
" Why "
" Well, our mission is to remove the Spiders from the forest, and the way i see it if we burn down the forest there won't be spiders in it anymore. "
Oh good times, the DM made me roll persuasion and everybody else rolled low and decided it was a good idea.
his name was yesper nightfang. i messed up on some roleplay and made him look like an idiot, and i was such a noob that i thought wisdom was unimportant and assigned a 10 to that stat. i spent the entire short lived campaign trying to kill him off. fortunateley, i really like my new character and our first new session is in 2 weeks so im really exited.

Majestor Steel, the Moon Elf Ranger. When I first played, me and my friends had no idea how to, so we made stuff up. Our dm said we found 2000 gp each, and I used it all on as many scales mail sets as I could buy, and, thinking armor stacked, had an ac of over 300

I’m a little embarrassed to admit this years later, but the DM was my boyfriend, so I was pretty sure my character wouldn’t be disposable.

Yeah. In retrospect I totally agree with you.
Best character? No. First Character? No. First RPG character, yes! Vallarie, a human wizard. Think Jester mixed with Caleb Widoghast.

My first character was a Half-Elven Ranger/Cleric. I haven't played him since 1e and he didn't die so...technically still alive?

Cool! I am still playing mine, She is still alive and well! (she is an elf, so she'll be alive and well after I am dead, though.)
