“You may need something as powerful as a Wish spell,” Lyra tells her. “I can cast that, but it drains a lot of my power and it can’t be cast lightly. I would advise you to go back to your kingdom. You are a princess, an heir to the throne. Get your parents to offer a reward sufficient to motivate a powerful wizard or sorcerer to cast Wish and undo this curse for you. Or alternatively, find out who did this to you and either kill them or force them to undo the spell.”
She shakes her head. "I'm not a princess. I'm just a noble. The people like us, but we're not of royal blood. And I can't go back to my parents."
Lyra pauses. “Why can’t you go back to your parents? Surely they would help you remove the curse if you asked them to.”
"Because then everyone would know about what happened. And the legacy of my family would be ruined. I've always let them down. I can't do it again."
“But that’s what you need to do!” Lyra says excitedly. “You need to go back and get their help to fix this. They’ll probably know better than you who would do this. This is not your fault! But you need to get help from someone who knows the intricacies of your family’s situation much better than I do.”
She shakes her head. "You don't understand. My family has hundreds of years of history. If I go back, looking like this, everyone will think I've done something horrible."
“I understand,” Lyra assures her. “My human family thought I was cursed because I was part steel dragon. They treated me like an outcast for years. It’s why my mother wanted me to stay home and become a debutante instead of going off adventuring. But it wasn’t my fault and it’s not yours. Someone evil did this to you. This is not your fault!
Go back to your family. Tell them what happened. They’ll understand and they’ll help you get back to the way you were.”
"Are you sure? I don't want to let them down another time."
Lyra leans forward and rests her hand on Valitya’s shoulder. "I’m sure. You won’t be letting them down. They’ll be proud of you for telling the truth about what happened to you and having the courage to ask for help.”
"Im doing... Really weird, if Im being honest. You?"
"Well, but I haven't done much. What happened?"
"Well... I went exploring in the nearby woods, and a few strange events transpired..."
"Like what?"
"Well... First strange tracks were in front of me... When I turned, they seemed to do the same to follow my path"
"What do you mean? Like an invisible creature, or moving footprints? Do you want to sit down?"
She sits slowly "Like moving footprints"
"Did they do anything else?"
"No... But after that, there were.strange shadows between the trees, and weird voices spoke to me telepathically.,
Szaren waits for her to continue.
"It... Told me to follow them. I asked why I should trust them... They said I had no choice. I wasnt going to make it out without help. That some 'traitorous foe' was changing the tracks"
"Go on."
"I... Started following the shadows. The trees got thicker the more we went on. The space grew tighter. Eventually, it arrived to a place where I couldnt fit further"
"What did you do?"
"I... Called out to them. They said theyll 'Make path'... A distortion seemed to form in one of the trees"
"What did it look like?"
"It... Seemed to bend and twist. I could almost kind of... See through it. As if it werent there"
"Like part of the tree was vanishing?"
"... Yeah, almost like that. That point was... Sort if spongy to the touch. It was... Really weird."
"Could you go through it?"
She nods "I pushes through it. It felt like I ran for miles as I got to the other side. It was a small clearing, with a natural sort if pedestal in the center... Vines were holding a dark colored gem of some sort"
Szaren waits.
"I used Roffigirrte to cast identify on it, and it seemed to have something to do with space or gravity... Seeing that it didnt hurt him, I tried picking it up, and the vines around it crumbled"
"What happened then?"
"The crystal... Melted into a liquid. It sunk into my skin, and my veins went black. I felt noxious for a few seconds... Then I noticed the distorted pathway had closed"
"Could you leave?"
"I.. Couldnt for a little while. But... The voice eventually told me how"

"Do you promise?"
“I promise,” Lyra swears. Impulsively she gives Valitya a hug.
She stands still for a moment, then hugs Lyra back. "Thank you."

Insight 27
She can tell that Valitya seems to look up to her.
That makes Lyra really happy. She gives Valitya a sending stone and tells her to contact her if she ever needs anything or just wants to talk.
"I will. I promise."

After they leave Lyra’s room, Kalani’s gonna help Valitya get packed to go back home, then probably hang out in the tavern for a few days till her group arrives and she goes back to Exandria.
*Random question for anyone who wants to answer: how common do you think travel between Material Plane worlds should be? I think it exists, but it’s primarily limited to high-level adventurers and the very wealthy. The average person probably doesn’t even know other worlds exist. What do you think?*
