Question of the Day: How was your last Dnd session? My answer is a little long so I'm putting it in a spoiler.
Yesterday, Yankedoodle, my war forged lore bard/clockwork soul sorcerer rick rolled the entire universe and almost became the god of dreams. Our adventuring party has left post-apocalyptic earth in a spell jammer powered by a lich's phylactery that we stole from a band of mercenary Gith. As we were flying through the Ethereal Plane we came across a giant crystal castle. Upon entry we discovered that this was the castle of the Dream Maker who is the cloud giant responsible for making dreams. He carves fantastical statues out of dream crystal and then puts them into a machine called the World Mind where they are ground up into dust and spread across the mindscape to create dreams. Something was clogging the World Mind so we had to go in and fix it. We found that the tube going into the grinder was clogged by a large troll statue that had gained sentience. All the other dream statues were blocked up by the troll who was afraid of going into the grinding mechanism.
Now, the argument was that the animated troll was not actually alive, merely an artifact that had gained the semblance of sentience through its magical nature. My character was a robot though so he wasn't having any of that. If the troll begging for his life wasn't alive, how could my character be considered living? This was quite the emotional conundrum for poor Yankedoodle.
We later discovered that being ground into dream sand wouldn't kill the troll, instead it would cause him to be born as a dream spirit in the mindscape so we calmed and convinced him to go into the grinder. Instead of leaving right away, Yankedoodle had an existential crisis. He was a construct who never slept before, he had never dreamt. Looking inside the World Mind he could visually see all the wonderful and terrible dreams of the world. Also, as payment for the unclogging job, the Dream Maker offered to give each of our characters one dream of our choice next time we slept, but my character has had a lifetime of no dreams. How could he choose one. He had a very strong urge to jump into the grinder himself in the hopes of becoming a dream to discover the secrets he has been searching for and live in the ecstasy of the mind that he has been apart from. He eventually decided not to though, because his adopted/gaslighted son was burning in a hell dimension because of him and he needed to free him.
So we left the World Mind, but not before my jukebox bard played Never Gonna Give You Up inside it, rick rolling the entire universe and inspiring Rick Astley to write the song.
And that was just the beginning side quest.
That's amazing lol. Me personally, our session went well. Players confronted the final boss of a dungeon, chose to spare him because he regretted working for the BBEG while watching everyone he knows in his kingdom die. They also made a Cyclops think they were gods and will probably meme about him for a while. They're decently new, and I'm also not the most experienced (we all are only are a few levels after having finished Phandelver), but each time we sit down and roll some math rocks we get a better understanding of roleplay, the rules and such and it makes me happy to watch the group grow.
Me, I've been avoiding the drama. I admit, with the games I run, and for as long as I've been running them, the needle is too deep in the veins. The addiction flows.
Question of the Day: How was your last Dnd session? My answer is a little long so I'm putting it in a spoiler.
So on Saturday, I played two games.
I ran my 7am game - and in that game, I was an unusually cruel DM. In that game, there are two monks in the party. And they enjoy the ol' stun lock trick.
So where they were - a pack of trolls arrived (drawn by the smell of dead elves, that the party discovered had been killed by a green dragon). One of those trolls was a venom troll.
The venom troll spews poison on any damage it takes except for one specific type of damage.
So the monks were hitting away, trying to stun - taking damage themselves - only to discover - the troll was regenerating.
Was very, very, very fun to present a challenge that forced them to think differently.
The game after - It's the 5e Dragonlance in which I play a White Robed Wizard, whose path has been going darker...
Usually I drop a fireball or two - then the bad guys get their revenge on me, since I have crap armor and even worse HP. (I am going to grab Toughness at level 8...)
But this was the first time I survived without taking a fall. Was a fun session but I was bone dry out of spells when we had continued.
I sometimes recap it in a "story" format from my character's perspective:
So, uh, what are we exactly supposed to avoid posting now?
We'll know it when we see it.
you can always tell. It leaves an odor in its wake...
My last D&D Session was Saturday night, and it was wild because this group decided to head to Dorado and compete in the Grand Games prelims. Which, of course, i have outlined but nothing specific created for.
So it was me basically improvising a Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin, Bob Hope, and Bing Crosby road trip to Gladiator crossed with Olympics in a city that is modeled after the Wild West and genuinely run by a man who is called The Duke.
in the middle of this, came a pun sequence. not just any pun sequence, but a pun chain, where yo have to not only pun off the last one, but add a new pun.
because they saw camels. And, having seen camels and started making puns, (it was midweek, so, i guess they had a point), this meant the Vanguard (gladiator style Barbarian) had to punch the camel. but forgot to specify non-lethal (accidentally, on purpose) and so killed the camel, and now they not only plan to compte, but they plan to do it in the chariot races, with camels instead of horses.
That's next month, thankfully.

Can a giants ring act as a humans crown? Like as a spoil of battle?
I cannot think of a reason why not, beyond the aspect of size of the giant to make the ring the size of a head.

if I only have ketchup and yellow mustard, then probably.
but I am very, very rarely only left with those options.
i use ketchup on hamburgers, and the above mentioned occasional.
‘I do not use catsup for anything else. Ever. It is the one common condiment I almost never have — and when I need it, I just make a small batch of it for myself.

Is WotC doing any stupid 💩? Or have they recently done some stupid 💩? That. Don’t talk about that in this thread and you’ll be fine.

That’s a great idea! I would definitely say it could.
I really like D&D, especially Ravenloft and Forgotten Realms. My pronouns are she/they.
I like reading and writing too, but I’m not much of an artist.
I don’t exactly know how to calculate that. But I find it funny.
