Yvonne quietly advances a bit closer to the door, preparing for whatever happens next. "We need to stay quiet." she whispers to the other two. "They managed to get the Mantis online. No doubt, they're searching for us."
Elsa looks up from the shiny pebble in their hand, and silently draws their sword- ready for the worst.

Roll for stealth! With advantage, because of the walls. The Mantis isn't likely to hear the trio behind the walls as long as they stay quiet (unless they roll really badly for stealth) but it'd be useful to roll now, so we can carry the checks forward, wherever the characters go next.

Hiya! I need everyone’s help to make a monster.. I have some ideas for abilities I just need help putting it in stats. Now, i’m aiming for CR 29, so around Greatwyrm-tarrasque level power. Lets get to my idea!
The Crenningclaw, Beast of the Crooked Moon, is the creature that stalks the woods in the night, the eyes you see in the shadows of the forest, and why it is unsafe to travel alone during the night. The Crenningclaw is inescapable. Once it sets its sights on you, there simply is no running from it. It will always be visible in the distance, slowly lumbering towards you. It doesn’t rush, it doesn’t need to. Dread it, run from it, death arrives all the Same.
the Crenningclaw is the sacred beast and the personal assassin of the Cultists of the Crooked moon, an unknowable entity that appears for eleven minutes during a crescent moon on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, once every eleven years. It haunts the sky and causes terror and madness, warping beasts and creatures to fit its own needs. Soon, it may replace the moon altogether and devour the sun. Any who appose the cult risk becoming the Crenningclaw’s next victim.
so first off, high armor class, around 400 hitpoints, and a 20 foot movement speed. You will see why in a bit.
very high strength, low dexterity, high constitution, a below average intelligence, high wisdom, and like, a 5 in charisma. Proficiency in all physical saves and wisdom.
it will have expertise in Stealth (this is gonna come up later) as well as survival and perception.
onto it’s abilities: first off, inescapable.
the Crenningclaw, as a free action on its turn, can mark a creature within 500 feet of it as its new target. It can have one target at a time. The Crenningclaw knows the precise location of its target at all times, and it cannot be more than 500 feet away from its target, no matter what, unless it chooses to. If you run out of range, it magically moves so that it’s within 500 feet. Teleportation? Same thing. Planeshifting? Same thing. It has advantage on attacks against its mark.
lunar crown: while in direct moonlight, the Crenningclaw cannot be critically hit, and it gains resistance to all damage besides psychic. In addition, while in direct moonlight, it deals an extra 2d8 radiant damage on its attacks.
crooked shine: it’s eyes glow with ominous power. Creatures that can see its eyes must make a charisma save or become transfixed, charmed, and incapacitated. If the mark sees this, it instead becomes frighten and must use its turn to run away from the Crenningclaw. You can avert your eyes, but in doing so you can’t target the Crenningclaw.
shadow of death: the Crenningclaw is invisible to all creatures besides its mark that are more than 30 feet away from it. In addition, it can hide in plain sight beyond that and is passively always hiding, detect DC 26. It can reveal itself to any creature it wants, which suppressed this trait against that creature for one hour.
On the hunt: as an action, it can enter its hunting mode, assuming its mark is within 60 feet. Its speed increases to 60 feet, it gains the siege monster trait, and it gains access to some new abilities. There will be certain actions that it will have exclusive to on the hunt, just need to figure attacks out.
