I'm just leaving D&D kinda, at least my main group is switching systems and I want to try some others
Real. I do like 5e tho
You could think of D&D like star wars, Its a bit rough sometimes but still good until it started making mistakes on the newer stuff
Definitely. Dnd is still fun, they’re just… making rise of skywalker content for it
Exactly. The force awakens was like... The books just after Tashas that were alright but not amazing. Since then its gone more and more just... Questionable
I'm also so sad star wars is turning into Marvel, theres so much content and they release like a show a week. I feel like i just finished Bad Batch never got to the tales of the empire and now theres The Acoylte. Like, slow your roll. It’s definitely getting dragged out, i think star wars content should either go to a release every one or two years (or not super often) or just stop making content entirely.
ah yes, the acolyte. truly a cinematic masterpiece, the likes of which only morbius and madame web can compare.

I get it a problem for some, but what’s your solution? If they get subclasses at level one, they have much more options than everyone else. If you get it at the start, some people will feel that it’s unearned. There’s no real way to please everyone. Some people like having to go through a struggle. And it is a personal issue because you personally don’t like the way it is designed. Some people will agree with you, others won’t. Either way it’s still a personal opinion
Well in general, there’s a lot of issues with class differences in terms of power level. As a spellcaster, you’ll always have more options than a martial at any level. I’m also not a giant corporation with a team working on this. But what I would do first would be probably add more health or something? Anything to not make you die in one shot. I think fixing martial caster divide would also be a good first step. So giving martials more option than just swinging. And while there’s no way to please everyone, you can put in the tools people can use to make their games better and make new players have an easier time, right? Isn’t that the point of DND? It’s supposed to be the mainstream accessible TTRPG.
And even if it’s my opinion, I’m proposing for it to be more accessible to different playstyles, while you’re proposing to restrict it to dark souls gameplay. DND should be more generalized with individual games narrowing down and adapting. It’s harder to take gritty base gameplay and make is accessible than to take easier 1-2 levels and make them more difficult.
I’m not saying restrict to dark souls gameplay, I’m saying that you should expect the beginning to be difficult. You’re still finding your way. I can understand making it more accessible to others but here’s my point, my first dnd campaign started at level one. It was perfectly fine. I had no issues even though I almost died. And WoTC is fixing the martial/caster divide. Tactical mind for fighters and such.

i'd hate to spoil the thrill of discovery for you, my friend.
Would any of y'all be interested in a tavern where you baccicly play yourselves in the end world? Like, you could play yourselves but evil, yourselves but better, yourself but if your life went a little different, that kinda thing. You wouldn't be forced to make it super close to yourself or anything it'd just baccicly a way to play out your fantasies.

Tactical mind doesn’t make up for the vast array of spells that spellcasters get. And fighter is only one martial class. Even if levels 1 and 2 should be hard, they should be skillfully hard and not random chance at dying hard. My first level one campaign went fine too but our personal allusions shouldn’t be what we’re basing experience off of. I know lots of people that hate playing level one. Objectively, level one and two are poorly designed.

I didn't watch it yet.. does this mean I should be worried?
i'd hate to spoil the thrill of discovery for you, my friend.

I'm Fry, a doodler, writer, aspiring singer/songwriter, and sort-of youtuber (check me out!) goofin' around on the interwebs Soli Deo Gloria(Sed servus eius crustulum vult) I'm a disabled, neurodivergent, dumpster fire, and somewhat of a clown, but I do my best :3 Crafter of Constellations, vocaloid enjoyer, waluigi’s #1 fan, space alien, undead cutie pie, danganer of ronpas, and certified silly goose Internet big sib to aspeninthetrees, TheGatoLover, (and hopefully more)
I’m not saying restrict to dark souls gameplay, I’m saying that you should expect the beginning to be difficult. You’re still finding your way. I can understand making it more accessible to others but here’s my point, my first dnd campaign started at level one. It was perfectly fine. I had no issues even though I almost died. And WoTC is fixing the martial/caster divide. Tactical mind for fighters and such.
I can’t blame you for that but the best way I can put it is suck it up. And yes, caster get a hell of a lot of spells but usually for less health and such. This is one of the situations where there’s no real correct answer. There’s no tell way to buff a fighter to have the same level of versatility as a wizard unless you buff the hell out of eldritch knight. And I don’t like repeating myself but levels one and two are supposed to be hard. You’re supposed to be taking a risk by becoming an adventurer. It’s supposed to be dangerous
That’s like 1/8th of the average stuff you used to see on the tales of adventure’s tavern
That does not mean for you to try to make a longer one.

Saying suck it up is like.. what? I’m trying to propose solutions to a problem. No need to be rude. Casters don’t even get that much less health. And how is balanced that one class gets d10 hit dice while the other gets slightly less but gets to cast 9th level spells? There also is a correct answer. Baldurs gate 3 did a really really good job of fixing a lot of these problems. You can provide more use to a fighter by giving them more mobility, making battlemaster abilities universal, and probably more things? I’m 90 percent sure that at least one of the millions of TTRPG systems have fixed this. You’re also repeated points that I’ve refuted. It’s not hard, it’s unfair. There’s a difference. It’s a game. Not a real life hack and slash gritty system either. Refer to my previous points and what I’ve said anout RNG and dark souls games (which isn’t even applicable because in souls games, you can actually use skill to avoid death.)
