The teddy bear is secretly a shapeshifting boogieman who turns into your greatest fear and kept being attacked since it looked like deadly monsters, so it's hiding in a teddy bear to keep people from being scared, but is super anxious about losing its disguise and being killed. Think a mix of mimikyu from Pokemon and bogart from Harry Potter
I'd say make them more social, but other than that it sounds like a positively squepic concept.
