Okay. I am attempting to write a creature that is like denial brought to life. Basically, when a person with strong spiritual connections is grieving a dead companion, or enemy, they can accidentally create a spirit that is that person physically and mentally, at least from their understanding of them. These creatures believe they are the real deal and are functionally immortal, unless the person who summoned them stops denying and comes to terms with their loss. The problem I'm facing is what to call them. My current ideas are Thoughtborn or Griefborn, but I want to hear your ideas or suggestions.

I feel like saying (insert) born feels wrong because the person who died has already been born. Like a Dragonborn was literally born with dragon like traits, so it’s fair to call it a dragon, but if you simply transform it feels odd to call it a “born”
Trying to think of name suggestions. I don’t want to just be a critic but hopefully that insight is somewhat useful

I feel like you’re misunderstanding something. A Dragonborn isn’t called a Dragonborn because they’re born with draconic features. It’s meant to mean something along the lines of “of a dragon” or that the person was quite literally birthed from a dragon. It could be called a thoughtborn because they come from thoughts. Created by thought. You could even say they were born from thoughts.
Agreed that Grief/Thoughtborn are decent names and fit.
Somewhat thinking of La Llorona in a sense. (Grief-stricker ghost mother that steals and drowns other kids to replace hers.)'
Perhaps Tearmaiden/Tearmaster as a possibility.
Did not know about her. I like those options, but I feel they fall more in line as titles for the people who created the Griefborn. Still a good suggestion.
ok
what time would that be?

The US is a big place, and has an appropriate number of cryptids and fearsome critters.
