Today's fun fact: It's the Feast of the Immaculate Conception today.
Also worked an event on Saturday. Turned out that one of the kids there was named Greggory Hernandez* which was interesting since one of my fellow staff members was also named Greggory Hernandez. As part of the event also requires memberships we had someone taking care of that and he gave me a list with the updated info. Most of the IDs were starting with 5873* so when one of them, for Gregory Hernandez, started with 2496 I was like, "Huh?" And then turned to staff-guy Greggory Hernandez* like, "Hey, is this your ID number?" Since the guy checking things would've found a Greggory Hernandez that already had a valid membership and lived in the expected state so was like, "Okay this is his info."

I really liked the third one but was also surprised that what I considered simple math was to the rest of them, "What is this wizardry?"
Essentially I had two matrices.

First step is to realize that the spell levels form a matrix which gets you to

Which after the matrix multiplication gives you a final matrix of

[ 28 20 ]
Then convert that to binary and get a final matrix to toggle switches on/off of
[ 01001100 00110100 ]
[ 00011100 00010100 ]
But they were like, "I never came across matrices in my math classes." Which surprised me since I remember doing them in, IIRC, freshman year of high school. So would've thought everyone got to them at some point.
Now I had expected I would need to give them some hints along the way. Recognizing what was supposed to be done was one step I expected. And getting the final thing of "Now convert to binary." But I hadn't been prepared for a total stoppage at the second step of them not even knowing how to do math with a matrix. ;p
Certainly in the UK, not everyone studies this, it is only for people who take Maths at A Level, which is not mandatory. I would be completely stumped ngl
