So spend your hours on What you think I've done wrong I know I'm in your mind I've been here way too long I want to spend my life With those who've done me right Your heart is frozen over I'm a four-leaf clover
Well there's less than a month until Netflix's live action Avatar gets released. Any of you looking forward to it? Or fearing that it might be like the movie that never existed?

I kind of forgot about it but I am kind of afraid to watch it. It's probably kind of hard to fit such a good show into an hour and thirty minutes, so I'm afraid that they cut out good stuff, which is okay just as long as they don't actually change a bunch of things.
Pretty interesting. Looks really CGI-heavy, though. I guess it’s unavoidable when you’re making that sort of movie.
It's actually a 10-part series with a longer runtime that the original S1.
Which does fix one big issue Shymalan's movie that never existed had. He tried condensing a bunch of stuff from a whole season into a movie's runtime which led to a lot of narration filling gaps since either a movie focuses on a small part of the whole or has to jump from place to place.

WHAT? ANOTHER ONE?! I thought they were done with those movies.. they were SO bad compared to the show

Ohhh, well that’s a lot better. Still kinda concerned about the CGI. I just don’t like the look of it. Not sure why. Maybe because a lot of scenes have similar lighting, or the backgrounds don’t look super real? I’ll give it the benefit of doubt, though.

The Shymalan ones got cancelled. As I recall he was in the middle of producing the second one and the first one's box office was so disappointing that they cancelled it mid-production.
The Netflix is a fresh attempt starting all the way back with the boy in the iceberg. (So not a continuation of Shymalan.) And from the trailers it should be better than Shymalan's. (There's still concerns over how it will go given that ATLA producers did leave the Netflix production over creative differences.)

Fair enough. The scene of Aang flying on a glider to Roku's island in the trailer did look a little janky. But at least Appa looks like Appa and night a creature from your nightmares. :P

I probably won’t watch it tbh, I don’t have Netflix anyhow
Yeah. There's way too many streaming services these days IMO. Would be nice to be able to just pay for a one (maybe two) and be done with it. Instead you get crazy things.
Take Star Trek Prodigy for example. Paramount+ was billed as the home of Star Trek. So Prodigy should be on Paramount, right? WRONG! It was but they cancelled it so Netflix picked it up and now if you want to watch all your Star Trek stuff you have to go elsewhere.
Or even a single show can get split up. I've seen some animes on Netflix where only S1 in on Netflix and for the rest of the seasons you have to go elsewhere. (Probably an advertising method to try getting people hooked on a show so that they want to buy your service too.) It's infuriating.

Yeah, that’s just silly. It should be regulated. I mean, I can’t imagine how to go about regulating a system like that, but someone should at least try.

And as soon as you got regulations they would find loopholes around them.
Oh we have to put the whole series up if put at least one season up? Well okay. Then this isn't one show with 5 seasons. It's actually 5 series that tie into each other but are distinct legal entities. And to further comply with this legal requirement we no longer have all 5 seasons, ahem, series, show up under one item in a search but as 5 discrete entities in your search so you have to add all 5 to your list instead of just one.

I’m a little worried that it will just be a live action recap of the show. It could be interesting, but I hope it shows us something new.
I would prefer if they just wrote a whole new animated series set in the same world with mostly new characters. I want to see a series where the main character is fire nation and the villain is the avatar.

I mean I think the same, shows and stuff shouldn’t be split. But if there was only a couple streaming things it’s a monopoly

I don’t want that At All
But a continuation of the series would be cool, the comics continue (Zukos Mom, and a ton of other interesting stuff)
how come?
So spend your hours on
What you think I've done wrong
I know I'm in your mind

Speaking of Avatar the Last Airbender, has an AtLA tavern ever been made? Would anybody be interested in that?
