Spiders are objectively cute. Kittens however... Have you seen their whiskers? Like little antennae reaching for you, their slimy noses sniffing you, their tongues grinding you in a slow horrible death that inspired many Eldritch horrors! Repulsive!
Did Bilbo fight Spiders, or kittens? Did Harry Potter fight spiders, or kittens? I think it’s clear the Spiders are mostly the enemy here

I can abide the spiders in my basement as long as they stay in the corner. (They're tiny and spindly.) All others die.
And totally relate to the careful, PJ. Once had to do stuff in the crawlspace and got decked out with long sleeves, pants, and a hoodie.
