That’s cool. I’m not much of an artist, but my grandpa is an amazing watercolor painter, and my nana does a lot of wildlife sketches.

that's super cool! i used to have no interest in drawing anything other than people but than I watched the blue period anime and now i wanna learn how to draw everythinggg
watercolor is really hard due to it bleeding across the paper and wildlife is tough cause it can be super detailed, so props to your grandparents

I might've missed a discussion on this in another thread, but does anyone actually care about 5.5e/6e/"One D&D"? Keep in mind I haven't really been keeping up with what it changes or fixes, but last time i checked it all just seemed kinda.. pointless. If you can literally play a new edition using an old edition, is it even a new edition or just slight tweaks? I've recently looked at other RPGs (Cairn, Mausritter, etc) and the communities youtubers keep making them. (DC20, bobs gonna make one eventually, and I'm sure there's others) Just kinda seems like now that I've actually looked at something other then D&D I'm just kinda like, "This really isn't "The Worlds Greatest Roleplaying Game." And its worth noting I haven't actually played any system but D&D yet, but I have looked at several and my group is switching to Symbaroum soon. (I might also run a Cairn oneshot) basically I think I'm sticking to 5e if I play D&D
Just curious what everyone else thinks
(Also, I know some people just want to yell or complain about nothing, I hope I'm not coming off like that (especially because I once was that, kinda.) I'm totally open to changing my mind if someone has good reasons, like i said I haven't even kept up that well with 5.5e/whatever you wanna call it. Y'know I get the feeling this has been talked about in another thread with the same people already and I wasn't there..)
I haven't really kept up with 1D&D either. I've heard there's some good ideas in it, but my friend group is using 5e and I don't think they've even heard about 1D&D and I've got enough 5e PBPs here to keep me happy.

IIRC they were originally making some generic wildshape blocks. But then went back to "choose a beast."
And tbh the idea of generic blocks makes sense. Only requires players to look at a couple blocks instead of the whole animal kingdom, but also gets into the issue of "You can pretend this is a bunch of different things. But it's really all the same."

I've used wild shape for so many things, from carrying an unconscious party member as a horse to sneaking through some bars to break out of prison as a spider and if there was only one generic block that wouldn't be possible.

Actually, I’m not really looking forward to it that much. I don’t like rulebooks nearly as much as I like setting sourcebooks and adventures, and there’s going to be like a whole year without any of those because they’re putting out the revised core rulebooks. But my school group has already decided to switch over and I think the new sourcebooks and adventures going forward will use the new rules, so I’m keeping an open mind for now.

Good choice. Symbaroum as a system and world is much better than D&D. Same goes for all of Free League’s products, but Symbaroum and Coriolis are especially well-made.
To answer the question, I couldn’t care less about One D&D. 5e was never an especially good system, just the most popular one. I’ll continue to use it for convenience until the community adopts One D&D universally, a point at which I’ll stop playing altogether.
Hope that people on the forums continue to use 5e stuff, I mean everything is supposed to be compatible right? I don’t know how much they changed combat or character creation. As far as I know, they just updated the core classes and that sort of stuff with new mechanics that still work with 5e but I have genuinely no clue about anything else or if that’s correct. I just like the 5e system and don’t think I could stop using it completely in favor of a new one.

It's supposed to be fully compatible, as from what we've seen from the playtests it is with the exception of a few edge cases (circle of the shepherd druid for one).
I feel like I'll continue to play what is popular, and at least for my non-PBP groups at least I bet we'll continue playing 5e. Though one of my DMs is thinking of starting a group for Cipher, so I'll probably join that if he ever gets around to it. I'll wait to dish out my full answer until I've read the book and seen how similar it is to 5e.

I'm definitely no artist, but I'm glad you've got more stuff going on with it.
Also, was rewatching this sketch and for the talks of gen-Alpha slang here now and then, white-beard's ability to relate to the youth caught my eye.
