Okay so basically, the only source of magic in this world are curses. curses are evil magics that plague humanity and cause tons of trouble and stuff. But curses aren’t just curses, they’re living. A lycanthropy curse would be a shadowy wolf made of smoke and obsidian, that hunts in secluded forests during a full moon, searching for humans to bite, giving them lycanthropy, which eventually creates another lycanthropy curse once the host is fully taken over. A plague curse could take the form of some sort of medieval plague doctor, traveling from house to house, giving people magnificent “cures,” that really just infect them with infectious diseases.
so yeah, that’s kinda the idea. And if someone can somehow befriend a curse or something, they have powers now! Or something

Neat. So it’s like they’re personified. That’s an awesome idea!

Yeah, I also had this idea that Pandora from Greek mythology is basically the one that created the curses or something, still working on the idea tho,

Oh, yeah, Pandora’s Box. That’s cool. It’d mean no new curses can be created though. A lot of origin stories and whatnot (nothics!) involve someone being cursed by a hag or archfey or something, and if Pandora released them all it’d rule out a lot of that lore.

Maybe the spirits themselves can also create new curses? Idk

Okay well if curses are living creatures, what if pandora only released the first ones? Because creatures can evolve. And in this sort of hypothetical setting thing, the hag or Archfey would be the curse.

This is an awesome idea! I don't know how a person would befriend a curse though, perhaps you would need to outsmart it? That could be cool
Also people who befriend/outsmart/*insert whatever Arch ends up doing* the curses could possibly have the magic to curse said monsters and whatnot, so it could still work (would still take a wee bit of changing lore though)
