My friends & I are starting up a campaign so I decided to see how much this could help in character details so I don't have to carry around my book & I sadly noticed that the Drow Elf stats & details are missing.
i just figured that if it's printed in a book, it should be in here at some point.

During the beta test of D&D Beyond, we'll only be including content that is freely available from Wizards of the Coast, including the D&D 5th edition SRD , D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, Elemental Evil Companion and potentially others. The beta will not include additional content from a Commercially Released Book, Module or Supplement.
All of the remaining published content from the PHB, DMG, MM and other D&D 5th edition books will be added to D&D Beyond for product release - the cost for accessing this material has not yet been announced.
The 5th edition of the Dungeons & Dragons Player's Handbook published by Wizards of the Coast in 2014 contains information and stats for the Dark Elf (Drow). I find it interesting that that is considered "additional content".

It's not free.

According to the basic rules that was mentioned in the post, the 5th edition players handbook was incorporated into the basic rules. But that's nitpicking. The fact is the beta has Aarakocra, 4 types of Genasi, and Goliath, but Drow, that's extra bonus content? My issue is that I can't even beta test the system because my only character's race isn't available. I get it, it's a beta, it can't include everything. But what I have a hard time with is that Fire Genasi is more core than Drow.
One thing that everyone needs to remember is that Basic Rules/SRD does NOT equal the core rule books. The full PHB, DMG, and MM are all paid for books that are not provided in full for free. As such, content that is only found within the core books (Drow being one of them), will not be found in Beyond until launch when users will be able to purchase the content (or access via a DM's subscription, etc.)
So, if we have purchased said books, will there eventually be a way to incorporate this content or pay a nominal fee to have it added? Having bought all these books and others I'd like to have access to use said additional content.
You will be able to purchase additional content on D&D Beyond. The details of exactly how this will work haven't been revealed yet, but what we do know is that you will be able to purchase just the parts you want, without having to buy full books.

Curse isn't producing and selling the physical copies, WotC is. Curse is selling only the digital copies. Would WotC reimburse Curse for the lost revenue or license fee? Curse is not obligated in any way to provide a discount for something you bought from somebody else.
Not the same product
If you bought a digital copy, should you expect your local game store to provide a discount on the physical copy? No. If you already own a regular copy, should you expect to get a discount on a special edition? No. Even though the content is the same, you're buying two different products. If that's not something you want to do, you can either not do it or sell your first copy to get the second.

That is because you have PHB races available to use since they overlap with the Basic Rules. If you bought only Tabaxi from Volos then Volos would show in the filter, even though you only have 1 race of the 14 available.
Ah, but the Basic Rules only present Dwarves, Elves, Halflings and Humans as playable races, whereas the PHB includes Dragonborn, half-elves, half-orcs and Tieflings, all of which are available to choose on this site.
Yes. Once you have the PHB on here, then you have access to content from that book that isn't in the SRD, as well as what is in included in it that overlaps.

But ive already paid for that content with the purchase of my PHB. Now I have to pay again to use it in the supplemental program built for the game?

Both the Basic Rules and SRD are free. The SRD includes Dragonborn, half orc, half elves, and tieflings.
It is tricky as dndbeyond lumps WotC’s basic rules, SRD, and elemental guide to evil all under the label Basic Rules.
Ah, okay. I see where the confusion is coming from now.
But if all those races can be counted under the Basic Rules label, then what's the point of having the PBH as a selectable option?
Subraces. Such as the one this thread was started for.
