I am absolutely sure this has been brought up countless times as Encounter Builder has been slowly evolving and developing. Most of the feedback I've been seeing are great and stuff I also want to see. HOWEVER! I have to say this to see if anybody else agrees or if the message has already been passed.
In my campaign and I'm sure for lots of other folks, I like making some of the enemies (BBEG mainly) as characters in DnD Beyond. Whether that's the evil wizard or the dark paladin, I like making them as characters to use them in fights against my players in sessions. Why is this not a thing you can assimilate in Encounter Builder?? Why can the enemies in Encounter Builder only be premade or homebrew monster sheets? Surely there's a way to easily make a system where you can drag and drop characters from your Characters List, over onto your campaign's Encounter Builder page, and mark them as an enemy!
I don't know... has other folks expressed this interest/desire? Has there been any word on that being developed at all? I'm sure there's ways to do it, like I have thought about just joining the campaign on DnD Beyond as the enemy NPC but then it calculates the Challenge Rating all wrong and I think you have to add a monster anyway (I guess you could just add a placeholder goblin).
Maybe I'm stupid and this is already a thing you can do and I just haven't figured it out. If that's the case, HELP!
There are no rules for calculating encounter difficultly for creatures without CR and there are no rules for converting class levels into CR directly. As such, the encounter builder cannot support characters as enemies for the purpose of calculating encounters. If rules are added to support this, I'm sure the team will endeavour to add those features to the encounter builder

How about the other way around, marking monster stat blocks as allies for the purpose of calculating encounter difficulty?

That’s not strictly speaking exactly true. There are rules for calculating a creature’s CR in the DM’s Workshop section of the DMG: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dmg/dungeon-masters-workshop#CreatingaMonster). Following those guidelines one could take any creature built as a PC and calculate its CR. I do it all the time.* Then simply follow the rules for calculating the encounter difficulty. Does it take an extra step? Sure. But there are in fact rules for it.

Okay thanks. Peace and blessings.
