I have noticed a strange pattern recently with D&D beyond giving me notifications when someone responds to a forum I am subscribed to. Many times, the notification will come several minutes after someone responds (I noticed this in situations where I was already monitoring that particular forum on my own for new comments).

What made me want to bring this up here was an even stranger case. I commented on a forum and then immediately got a notification that someone else had commented to the same forum. The "new" comment in question was one that had actually been posted over 20 minutes earlier (well before I even commented).

I think they're talking about notifications not e-mails. This is the notifications at the top right of any page - it looks like a bell icon. I have noticed a variety of strange behaviours lately including but not limited to:

Delays - sometimes I get a notification of a new post but it for a post that was made some time ago and that I've already seen - it varies from several minutes to over an hour. 20 minutes seems to be the average.

Self-Notifications - Three times now I have had a notification of a "new post" in a forum I just posted in that I was previously not subscribed to. The notification will be of the last post in that thread before my own post and would link to it, even if that post was days ago.

Duplicated notifications - Multiple times I've had a notification of a new post. I read it, and leave the thread. Several minutes later I'll get the same notification again. I'll check it and it's still the same post, unedited. I will check the "viewing" count, in case it was somebody posting and then deleting, but I'm the only one viewing, and literally seconds after getting the notification, so it seems very unlikely anybody posted and deleted.

I have figured it might just be server lag or something and pay it no mind. I don't rely on notifications and frequently run through the forums for updates manually anyway, so I'm not bothered by this. Worth mentioning though since it seems it's not just me.

I've been noticing Notification problems over the past two weeks. (I'm talking about the web browser "bell" symbol in the top bar.) Not the "Self" or "Duplicated" problems that Cyb3rM1nd mentioned, but the "Delays" and other incidents.

Since Notifications have been working *mostly*, I haven't complained until now.
(It was working fine up until recently, but I don't remember the exact date it started acting buggy.)
But it is often enough to be inconvenient, and it hasn't gone away.
I asked some other players, and they are seeing similar issues.

Since I do play-by-post (several threads are posted to every day by various players), it is easier to notice the erratic behavior.

- Not all posts seem to be noticed. I can remember a thread that had a "new" notification for a post 9 hours ago, but ignored a post that was made 3 hours ago.

- For a group Personal Message, there were two recents messages. Neither showed up as a Notification, and the "Unread" folder was still empty. (The original folder was still bold, and I got the e-mail notification the next day.)

I don't know if it helps diagnose the problem, but after 2 weeks of normal notifications, I did not see any notifications today (despite posts being made after I posted this morning).

EDIT: My last notification for forum posts is from June 29th. Nothing so far for the 30th or July 1st.

I did get a notification for a Private Message today.

 All my players are in the same boat (at least all the ones who have posted today. I haven't even received emails (or notifications) from PM's today. Is someone on staff looking into this?

Mee 2. No notifications today (ie. last 18-24 hours maybe?)

Yeah, now I'm getting notifications from 1 day old posts.

At a guess, the notification system backed up for some reason, and seems to be draining now.

Notifications (bell in the top bar) seems to be stuck again.
The last notification was 3 days ago. But I've received several PM and see a post in a PBP thread for the past 24 hours.

Is there a system status page?
I don't know if it is useful for me to post here, or if there is somewhere I can check that the (latest) problem is known and being worked on.

(EDIT: I just saw a notification for 17 hours ago (and not 2 hours ago), so I assume the system has restarted and the queue is draining.)

Today (Aug 19) I see notifications for 9 hours ago, but not for posts that were made 4 hours ago.

(EDIT: Posts from 6 hours are showing up now, so it seems like the notification queue is draining again.)

Notifications acting up again.
(Reminder that I'm talking about the red number badge on the bell icon in the top bar.)

Last evening there was a delay (4 hour old post didn't show up until the 5th hour), and this morning I can see 1 and 2 hour old posts in a thread that aren't showing up in the notifications. (It lists the most recent post as being 3 days ago.)

EDIT: 10 hours after I posted, and it looks like the queue is unclogging now.

12 hours or more delay for me. This is becoming a pretty consistent issue.

Me too. PMs are okay but notifications are 6ish hours behind. 

Delayed againagain. 3+ hours & counting.

Seems resolved.
