That's absolutely bonkers. I've been tearing my hair out over this for like four days. I even went through a phase where Veracity of Velocity and all associated abilities and actions were in their own segregated class feature just to keep things organized better, and I had a dedicated feature for Spellcasting just to get DNDB to correctly calculate and display all relevant spellcasting modifiers (which actually did work correctly), and then I REMOVED THAT and rolled Veracity of Velocity into Association of Acceleration to try to eliminate possible sources of errors by reducing core features down to 2 just like W4E since...you know...they haven't provided us a way to just make a copy of an unpublished homebrew and modify the copy to test the changes.
I'm honestly kind of dismayed at how janky this whole system is. This is one of the most bonkers user-level programming systems I've seen, and on top of the company not really providing any guide on command features insertable code (Spellcasting feature doesn't work right if you title it anything else, {{scalevalue}} system I had to hunt around on the internet for an explanation of how to set that up to get it to output correctly, and now I find out some of their own official subclasses wouldn't be user-publishable by their own standards). Whacky.
So then....could I get it to be publishable by taking all my Level 3 features complete with all Level 3 disciplines (class feature options) and them make that it's own Level 3 class feature....repeat with level 6, repeat with level 11, repeat with level 17...
Break all the disciplines into class options, each within their own level-segregated class feature?
It's A LOT more work, but maybe then it would be publishable.
Man...I think that might be more work than I'm willing to do given how janky the interface is and the fact I'm not being paid for this...
I know. That’s why I wrote the FAQ, to help people in the same boat as you. Talk about wacky? The most comprehensive set of instructions for the system is fan made.

That would work. Or you could just add a feature at 6th, 11th, & 17th levels that don’t actually do anything just as placeholders.
"That would work. Or you could just add a feature at 6th, 11th, & 17th levels that don’t actually do anything just as placeholders."
I'll try this placeholder features concept first to see if this works. It might satisfy the technical requirements without disrupting any backend mechanics, and will be far easier than doing it the other way.
Thank you for creating these guides and taking your valuable time to help people struggling with this goofy system. They really should be paying you for this.
Lol, thanks, I appreciate your comment. I’m happy to help. If you really wanna thank me then go vote “very helpful” in the poll attached to that FAQ. And if you have any more questions you know where to find me.
Do yourself a favor and don’t publish it right away. Take the time to fully playtest it and edit it before publishing it. Trust me, you’ll thank me later.
FWIW, it still doesn't like that. My placeholders aren't satisfying DNDB's arcane technical requirements, so it looks like doing it THE VERY HARDEST WAY might be the only way.

Oh, for sure. I just want to know that it's set up correctly so that it can be published when I eventually get that far.
I know this post is old, but I am having this issue and followed this link. According to the link, everything is correct (Ranger) but I am still getting this error.

Did you set those features to not display on the character sheet? Because that will foul the system too.

Currently "hide in builder" and "hide in sheet" are not checked for any of the features, including the placeholders.
ok, I checked "hide in sheet" and now it says I can share with the community! Moving the right direction, now...
ETA: I even put back the Spellcasting subclass option to get it to calculate and display correctly, and it works, and is still publishable. Awesome.

Your list does not say anything about the blood hunter class
My list?!? I’ve posted no list.
It’s simple, to look at the blood Hunter class and see what levels they are for yourself: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/blood-hunter).

It is amazing to see this thread continuing 5 years on from my original post in August 2018... lol
IamSposta's FAQ on homebrews is extremely helpful and I encourage you to read it, learn it and live it... It has helped me greatly over the years...
In fact, it is the only DDB forum post I have saved in my favorites... =)
Why thank you. I appreciate your vote of confidence. Please do me a favor if you haven’t already and vote “very helpful” in the poll attached to that FAQ, I’d really appreciate it.
