For one, what happens if someone else buys the company? We'll have to go through the same thing again and then just trust that Fandom will purge my data from their servers?
If you are an EU citizen (and even some cases if not if company decides to extend GDPR rights to non EU customers) you may request a copy of all information that company has on you. They must then within a set time frame provide that data, you can do this to see if they have any data and if what they have is worth removing. You also have the right to request any company delete their information about you. A helpful video about your rights under GDPR can be found here, while the video is aimed at video game developer and players the fact remains GDPR doesntdiscriminate in the type of company if it has info about EU citizens in a digital format.

yea i`ve got the email but for now i will ignore it. i`m not eager to share my personal info with unknown company. what next - Curse and Fandom will be bought by yet another company and share info again and again and so one? it`s to shady. and what if i will not consent? i`ll lose all that i bought?
If you choose to delete your account, we will not have any information about you or your purchases (since we would be required to delete everything).
If you keep your account, nothing will change and you can continue to use D&D Beyond as you do today.
So, basically you are holding what I have purchased as a hostage if I don't want to give my personal details to a company known for its questionable approach to advertising?
To be honest, I find this unacceptable and am not sure how this is even possible under the terms of sale that you and I agreed upon when I made the purchase . The terms, of course, do mention that the license is revocable, but revoking these terms over not wanting to share my personal information with such a company seems rather heavy-handed. If anything, this feels like a bit of a bait-and-switch; I purchase a license and then, out of the blue without any warning beforehand, am required to give out my personal information to a suspicious third party to keep using that license.
While I understand you are doing this to comply with the EU regulations, I'm not personally all that sure that this is done in accordance with the EU consumer protection regulations that also should be taken into consideration, I feel.
Twitch and Amazon's legal teams have steered this process, and I (not being a lawyer) am unable to speak for them. What I can pass on from the team in regards to your data and purchases:
As part of their commitment to data privacy, Fandom will treat any of your data that is transferred over (for example, your account information) in accordance with the Twitch Privacy Policy. Fandom’s Privacy Policy is located here: http://fandom.wikia.com/curseprivacy
We (DDB) will be honoring all sourcebook purchases, and in order to do so, we will need the relevant data.
And they have added:
We're dedicated to honoring consumers' purchases, and in order to do so, we have to have the associated account data. If a user doesn't provide consent, we will hold that purchase data behind and make it available for a user to reclaim an account for a limited period of time (currently 1 year).
Here's an idea. We live in a world where things moving to subscription (instead of buying product X). Customers pay sub fees, company collects, and pays them out to shareholders as profits. In the old product days that made a lot of sense. But if we're moving to subs... why not initiate a Customer Buyout of the Company? Cut out all the middle-man BS. So for everyone super-concerned about Curse being bought out by Fandom... another way to speak with your wallet is to for the community to buyout DnDBeyond. We become the shareholders, and we decide which way things go, how many ads we're ok being place where, what's happening with our data and all the the stuff that gets our panties in a knot.
Setup a new Board of Directors and off we go.
Practically speaking, every subscriber say dishes out $500-$1000 dollars, we collect it through a GoFundMe type of online campaign. Set a goal, hit the goal, make our offer to Fandom for DnDBeyond.com. Offer fails, we return monies via GoFundMe or whatever and go home crying.
1/2 Serious suggestion :). Upvote at least 1,000,000 times for this to get serious.

NOTE: You will need to setup a zendesk account (which is not your DnDBeyond.com account, the team uses this 3rd party software). It's easy to do and your votes are needed!
On a personal note, I don't get why DnDBeyond gets so much grief from the community. They have been open and as transparent as is possible. Remember this is just one product line/offering from Curse. Fandom bought the whole thing. What Fandom did not necessarily target "DnDBeyond" but Curse who claim to fame is (self-proclaimed):
"Global Gaming Media Leader".
What's Fandom? According to them: "The fan-trusted source in entertainment"
DnDBeyond.com is a niche within that segment.
Honestly, Adam and team have been forthright and open with the community from even before day 1 (official launch). Now if new management/owners decides to get rid of Adam and team, or Adam and team decide to walk away at some point (for not good reasons). Yeah, I'll be worried then. Remove sugar coating, Curse has new OWNERS. That means DnDBeyond has new OWNERS. If the new owners are treating Curse and DnDBeyond.com like partners good on them.
Finally, just to re-iterate. Owning a paper book is something you can keep for life (if the book's eternal enemy the coffee mug doesn't end the book sooner). NOTHING digital will be owned forever. That's just a fact no matter what we'd like to think. If you made your investment in DnDBeyond.com thinking otherwise. That's on you my friend. Outrage at stuff changing even a day after making the investment is silly. That's the way online subs and purchases work.

I just hope I do not have to make a new account for DDB and Twitch as I use Twitch for my World of Warcraft add ons as well as DDB I hope that I can just use the account info I already have without changing anything.

Due to the fact they are keeping the twitch login, the DDB part should be ok. (Assuming you give permission for the data carryover) As for the curse mods on the twitch app am in a similar bind and have no idea what is happening with that.

I think it has more to do with what Fandom tries to do in say a year. "Oh, we need to put a banner here and here to make some product revenue." What will Curse/DDB/Adam say? "No, you said you wouldn't, I promised them." They would get laughed at. I get that DDB "Should" run as normal, but that doesn't last forever.
And since Fandom will have all our details, how much spam will i get in my inbox? What control does Adam have over what fandom decides to spam us on? none.

I just want to tell everyone "happy gaming" and actually mean it. Whatever your game is, just have fun with it, it is after all, just a game.
Nothing lasts forever , dont get why people get so excited. This kind of things is part of digital World we live in. Any digital product as a build in risk to dissipear. Lets say country a suddenly decided to block iTunes . Any users having bought movies and music there Will No longer have their products from that country.
Yep Thats why i still by books on top of digital version.
On a personal note, I don't get why DnDBeyond gets so much grief from the community.
It's my belief that there is a vocal minority who have found a way to amplify their message and who are primarily fuelled by the correlation in timing between Orcpub's C&D from WotC and D&D Beyond's announcement.
Either that, or it's the Russkis...

I am really curious about all of this information that everyone is so worried about. So a new third party has my email address, big whoop. Ill unsubscribe from their emails if I don't want them. I feel like a lot of people here are making mountains out of mole hills.
On a personal note, I don't get why DnDBeyond gets so much grief from the community.
If it makes anyone feel better (it does for me), we get far more love than anything else, at least these days. The grief is thankfully a drop in the bucket.
I believe this is because we have demonstrated over time that we care about Dungeons & Dragons and making a resource that enhances the D&D experience. We're obviously not there yet, and this recent news is another step in us being able to get there. We will simply have to demonstrate that over time just like we have before.
I, for one actually really like the D&D Beyond service. I have used it from the beginning and think it’s really easy to use and really made it easy for all of my friends to hop in! Not to mention having the books in this format is great! All the power to you guys and I hope future endeavours are as fruitful. I’ll be supporting, definitely.
Please don't get me wrong, I too love dndbeyond, I use it all the time with my digital table and if i played at a live table, i would for sure praise it's glory and hope everyone could try it and love it to. I am just not excited about fandom is all. And now i have to change my signature...ugh
However, i do have a question. since there is new ownership, does that mean you have to get a new license agreement with WOTC? Will this merger also allow for either inclusion of 3rd party products or even other's (pathfinder/starfinder/77Worlds)?

Based on the Dev Update last thursday - No the deal with WotC remains unchanged. As for the second bit the ownership of Twitch/Amazon never from what I gaather prevented 3rd party deals nor should the new ownership. THe thing that has meant we have not seen it yet is probably alot of behind the curtain legal discussions about licensing, right, amount to charge, etc, etc. When it comes to other RPGs new ownership will not change that the product is D&DBeyond while I do not know I would imagine, that they do not want to wrestle other RPG systems (or even D&D editions) when they are still working on so much content for this one.
I may be wrong not on the team but based on past dev updates and posts on the forums this seems like what is the case.
... I would imagine that they want to wrestle other RPG systems (or even D&D editions) when they are still working on so much content for this one.
Especially one (Pathfinder) that is a direct competitor to D&D (same niche and very similar system).
I would also suspect there is some kind of clause in the license agreement between WotC and Curse as to prevent the introduction of competitor systems, and that is not likely to go away simply due to the change in ownership/partner on Curse's side.
