According to the racial threats of the zariel thiefling, you should get 'searing smite' at level 3 as a 2nd level spell to cast once a day. And "branding smit" at level 5.
Branding smite does turn up, but searing smite doesn't. Would be great if this could get fixed. Thanks in advance.
Searing Smite is not part of the Basic Rules/SRD - so isn't available for free. If you haven't either purchased the spell, the PHB, or had this given via camapign content sharing then you wont see it.
I bought all the spells available, so that shouldn't be the problem. I didn;t buy the entire book, only the content I needed. But that should still give me acces to it right?

D&D Beyond FoundersOpen your character sheet, then go to the address bar of your browser and copy the URL there. In this case, I was able to determine what it would be:

I've had a look at the character and, as you said, Searing Smite spell was missing under racial features.
I changed the character Race to Tiefling - Mammon and then back to Tiefling - Zariel, forcing the character to reload the racial abilities.
This seems to have resolved the problem for you. 😊
If I had to guess, did you gain access to the Searing Smite spell after selecting the race for that character?
