I had some players initially make characters on my account, but now they've made their own accounts. What is the fastest way to give them their characters from my account to theirs?
Make campaign. Add characters as unassigned. Give players join link. They join, take an unassigned character. You then close/delete campaign. They will keep their copy of the character sheets.

Wondering if anyone knows if it affects the anything if the recipient doesn't own some of the content? Like if I made them a kenku, but they don't own volos guide.

They will have full use of all the options on the character sheet, even if they don't own those options. However, should they remove any of those option, they won't be able to re-add them.
Does this still work? I can add a completely new unassigned character but not an existing one?
I just went through this too, lots of people saying it's possible but not going into detail on how exactly to do it.
Add the existing characters to a campaign using the join link (so if you make a campaign, join your own campaign using one of your previously built characters) - and then unassign them. Your players should be able to then choose those characters and take control of them from the campaign. After they claim the character, you can delete the campaign and they will keep the character sheet.

TESTING BUT DIDNT SHOW ME THE PC CHARACTERS I WANT TO TRANSFER TO MY PLAYERS>>>
In my original DM account, I created a new campaign. (I used Google Chrome browser) Then I added 3 characters from My Collection that I want my players to go get and have in their own fresh dndbeyond.com accounts. Following the directions in this thread, I joined my own campaign and added a PC character from My Collection of them. I plan to delete that campaign so those character sheets will be able to remain in each of my players dndbeyond.com accounts after they claimed them in that dummy campaign..
To test it: I created a new DnD Beyond account username/password from scratch. (To be safe, I used Firefox browser) After I logged into that brand new account, I joined the campaign from my first account at DND Beyond by copying the Invite Link. I then clicked "Create a Character" and didn't see the pre-made Characters I had just added as stated in paragraph 1 above. Then I clicked "Create from Premade Characters" and still nothing.
SO, how do I transfer a character I made in my account to one of my players so they can have ownership of it in their fresh dndbeyond.com account? What am I missing here?

I’m having some trouble grasping all the details of your steps, but if you are willing to PM me a link to the campaign you are using for this, I can take a look and get a better sense of what is happening. One possibility is that you didn’t unassign the characters, but some of what you describe isn’t entirely consistent with that.
OK. It took a few minutes for the character sheets to transfer in.... I was able to click the word "UNASSIGN" near the VIEW/EDIT tags and they are unassigned now and can be claimed!!!! Eurika!!! Thanks to all who helped clear this up.
My original D&DBeyond account, Panda_Lord, was linked to my now-defunct university Google account and my still-active Discord account. How can I recover my original account or transfer characters if I can't log into my original account?

if -it is possible you will need to file a support ticket. See the link in my signature.

Alternatively, if you guys are going to be playing a campaign together, you can add the characters to that campaign unassigned.

As dm, I would be able to re add those for then, right?? If they accidentally removed some stuff.
The DM and owning player can add any content they have access to to a character sheet

You came to the right thread. You didn't need to post a comment to read the answer though...
