My players Hp resets to the fixed value when they long rest even though their Hit point type is set as manual, does anyone know how to solve this?
Manual means rolling HP on level up and entering that number “manually.” Fixed Value means taking the predetermined number just above average as a “fixed value” for their HP when they level up. Neither has anything to do with how much they heal when they Long Rest.
Every PC in D&D automatically heals up to full HP on a Long Rest.
I am unable to reproduce this. These are the steps that I did, if you want to confirm this is what you are doing.
My test character is a level 8 fighter with +2 con.
Fixed HP for this character would be 52 "rolled" (10@1st, 6 at each later level) resulting in 68 total hit points
I switched their HP to Manual from Fixed
In the manage HP window I changed it from 52 to 48 for rolled HP resulting in 64 total hit points.
Using the heal/damage box, I dealt them 20 damage.
They now had 44/64 hit points.
I clicked the long rest button and then confirm.
They now have 64/64 hit points.
As IamSposta pointed out, the rules say that you go to max HP when you long rest unless you are using a variant rule (and the variant rules aren't supported right now on DDB).
It's possible your players are setting their HP incorrectly. They may be putting in their HP in the "Override Max HP" setting in the HP window on their character sheet. This resets when you take a long rest. They should be setting it by editing their character with the builder and clicking Manage HP in the Class menu.

I just checked with the players that have been having this issue and this was the reason why, thank you so much for taking the time to respond to this post and helping me out.
